Rating: Excellent for specific purposes and divers

These are great for diving with a large amount of equipment (I dive with a CCR and two or more bailout tanks) or if you like to "frog" kick. If youre a basic recreational diver you may find these to be a bit heavy and hard on your body when compared to a light-duty or split fin. You will also want a rigid dive boot, as a regular neoprene dive boot will allow the spring to dig into the back of your heel and put too much pressure on your toes. All that said construction and quality are both excellent.
A note on sizing: Im a size 13 and with a rigid dive boot or a drysuit rock boot the 2XL is the correct size for me, but I did have to adjust the springs to get a snug fit.

Rating: Fantastic fins!!
Reviewer: John Prator, Monday, July 11, 2011 - View all my reviews
I wanted a stronger fin like we had in the Navy, these looked very similar to the old "Jet Fins" so I bought them to try out. Im glad I did, very well built and I love the spring straps that are included. Fantastic fin but make sure youre used to this stiffer type fin or they may give you some cramping until you build up to them. High quality, great power, highly recommended!

Rating: Hollis Thanks for The Great F1 Fins!
Reviewer: Darrell Long, Friday, December 03, 2010
I just wanted to say I got my Hollis F1 Fins in and they looked and felt GREAT! I am a size 9EE and I purchased a pair of F1 Adjustable Spring Strap Fins Mens 7-9 /Womens 8-10(Regular)SKU#014857. The weight is a little heavy. But I think they are worth it. The value compared to the cost is a wonderful bonus as well. "Great Job"Scuba.com and Hollis!!!!

Rating: I really like them!!
Reviewer: chris f., Saturday, July 10, 2010
I was a little nervous ordering without trying on these fins. I wear a size 12 shoe if I really like them but should and normally wear 13s. I also have a wide foot. I wear these with a 3mm Pinnacle boot and the fin is really comfortable. Better than my Tusa expert Zoom splits. I liked the Tusas and was worried that this fin might really work my legs but they are sweet. I get way more propulsion and dont really notice an increse in effort required. Im a 37 year old dude in average/good shape so if you are a dainty woman maybe not the fin for you.The springs make them that much better.

Rating: Great fins
Reviewer: Tim C., Sunday, August 01, 2010
The instant you pick these fins up you know they are well made, yes a bit on the heavy side but I was looking for a well built fin. Foot pocket is comfortable for my 11 eee feet. They slip on easily with the extra large hook loop in the back. If you push a lot of weight these fins are for you, and they are a great buy.

Rating: Better than my Jet Fins and w/ spring straps
Reviewer: Scott Michael, Thursday, May 20, 2010 - View all my reviews
The fins are well made and are in my opinion work a bit better than my old ScubaPro jet fins. What really sold me was
- how comfortable they are
- that they come with ADJUSTABLE spring straps
- the loop on the spring strap sticks up at a 45 degree angle making it easy to grab
These (like Jet Fins) are heavy fins. I need a heavy fin so that is a plus for me. If your weight distribution is such that you need a lighter fin than these may not be for you.

These fins are awesome. You can motor with them bigtime. Very easy to slip on/off. Zero complaints about them. Love them and they look super cool.

Rating: Hollis F1 Fins
Reviewer: Steven B., Monday, August 10, 2009 - View all my reviews
These are very nice fins! I needed something better suited to drysuit boots and went with these as they have std. spring straps compared to others supplied as an adder. Compared to some reasonable non-splits these are a whole step up, like swimming in a different world. Oversized finger loop works well with heavy gloves and angled feature is nice to keep it out of the way. Highly recommended, they do not disappoint! I make it a point to let everybody struggling to get a their std. fin into a drysuit boot that these are great.
Ease of swimming? Went for a nice surface swim to the Madeira - once with std., once with the F1. Std. fin, exhausted, F1, fantastic. Did a long surface swim to retrieve a blown away buoy with my 17 yr. old, athletic son. He was using the std. type. It wasnt a race but I easily passed him on the way out and again on the way back. These kick!

Rating: hollis f1 xxl fins
Reviewer: christopher s., Sunday, June 21, 2009
Great Fins. More flexible and powerful than jet fins. Very maneuverable. I would have given 5 stars if not for one issue, the springs. The xxl fins have the same length spring as all of the other sizes. For the xxl fins, IMHO they are too short (this is not the case for other fin sizes). Consequently, unless you have dry suit boots, there is a good possibility you will feel like your toes are being compressed into the fin pocket, which can be uncomfortable. I hear a longer length spring is in the works.
