Rating: Hollis F1 Fins

These are very nice fins! I needed something better suited to drysuit boots and went with these as they have std. spring straps compared to others supplied as an adder. Compared to some reasonable non-splits these are a whole step up, like swimming in a different world. Oversized finger loop works well with heavy gloves and angled feature is nice to keep it out of the way. Highly recommended, they do not disappoint! I make it a point to let everybody struggling to get a their std. fin into a drysuit boot that these are great.
Ease of swimming? Went for a nice surface swim to the Madeira - once with std., once with the F1. Std. fin, exhausted, F1, fantastic. Did a long surface swim to retrieve a blown away buoy with my 17 yr. old, athletic son. He was using the std. type. It wasnt a race but I easily passed him on the way out and again on the way back. These kick!

These fins were purchased as a Fathers Day gift for my fiance and he absolutely LOVES them!! The springs are perfect for quick on/off, the size and shape of the fins make for a very smooth kick and glide through the water. I earned BIG points when I gave these to him! :-)

Rating: hollis f1 xxl fins
Reviewer: christopher s., Sunday, June 21, 2009
Great Fins. More flexible and powerful than jet fins. Very maneuverable. I would have given 5 stars if not for one issue, the springs. The xxl fins have the same length spring as all of the other sizes. For the xxl fins, IMHO they are too short (this is not the case for other fin sizes). Consequently, unless you have dry suit boots, there is a good possibility you will feel like your toes are being compressed into the fin pocket, which can be uncomfortable. I hear a longer length spring is in the works.

Rating: Hollis F1 Fins

As a long time and faithful Scubapro Jetfin owner , I purchased these fins based upon the advertising and the good reputation of Oceanic/Hollis to produce a quality product.Needless to say ,I was not disappointed.During my testing , myself and my dive buddy swapped fins during the dive.when frog kicking,we found that the person with the F1s had to reduce their effort to prevent from swimming away from the person using jetfins. Also there was no ankle fatigue experienced at all with the F1s. during flutter kick sprints, the F1s showed a slight advantage in speed. It seems that the deeper foot pocket (which fits better than the jets) transmits more power to the fin . The spring straps are awesome and you do not have to play trial and error with buying the correct length as the F1s are adjustable. In a nutshell , I would buy these fins again if anything ever happened to these and would recommend them to anyone who want a powerful, solid fin with less leg/ankle fatigue as most jet, turtle ,etc. designs

a new d version of a vented paddle fin design.
it fits comfortably and exhibits good thrust and manuverability. the spring straps are great.
it is however not a light weight fin.
