Rating: OMS Slipstream XXL are a better fit than their Scubapro counterpart
Reviewer: Peter van den Broek, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 - View all my reviews
I have been using these fins for about 30 dives and am able to use al the alternative finstrokes. Their fit is exactly between the Scubapro XL and the XXLs, which is what the docter ordered. Slightly stiffer and significantly lighter than what many people consider the reference. Judging from their pristine surface, I suspect them to last forever.

Rating: OMS Slipstream fins - Finally some real competition for Scubapro Jetfins
Reviewer: Timothy D., Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Having owned and used Jetfins, Rockets and Turtles I was eager to get my hands (feet?) on the OMS Slipstreams. As I compare fins to my favorite Scubapro Jetfins, here are the criteria I look for in a fin. 1)Footpocket fit: While only available in 2 sizes the slipstreams are well designed and I found the XL to be just slightly larger than an XL Jetfin and the XXL to be slightly smaller than an XXL Jetfin. This meant I could wear either one - so if you need larger size fins (11-15s) and have trouble getting Jetfins to fit properly, these may be just what youve been waiting for. 2)Responsiveness: Even more responsive than Jetfins, probably because they are slightly stiffer. This makes alternative kicks like Frog Kicks, Helicopter Turns, Backwards Kicks and modified flutter kicks very easy to perform. This is most noticible with the backward kick and helicopter turns. 3)Weight: Slipstreams are much lighter than Jetfins, being nearly neutral when fitted with Manta Spring heel Straps. While Ive been able to dive them, it is especially difficult to trim out in my doubles where I am used to having negative fins to help counteract top heavy doubles. Ive experimented with Ankle weights (which I dont like using) and am trying to find a way to weight the fins with about 1# of lead. This is my only substantial problem with the fins. 4)Large blade: Blade size is identical to my XL/XXL Jetfins - very good size. Overall I am very pleased with the OMS slipstreams - I do wish they were heavier, however it is nice having a lighter weight fin for travelling, and for those wanting Jetfins, but in a lighter weight, these are a great alternative. One very small issue is the drain holes - yes, its nice not to carry extra water out of the ocean with me, but I miss having that water for rinsing boots off back at the car... very minor issue... I much prefer Slipstreams to either Rockets or Turtles, and compared to Jets its a close call - if I can find a way to make them more negative in the water Slipstreams will win hands down.

the fins are pretty nice especilly with the spring straps. they are very stiff and give a lot of propulsion but they will make your legs tire a little faster if your swimming a lot. they are also pretty light to pack for vacation

The weight is light they are quite stiff, they work perfect with my whites dry boots, but are to deep for my 7 mm deep seas... I wear a size 13 in both, and went with the xxl... the spees they can give you si incredible, plus there is less side to side swaying in the kicks so it propels you forward without undue ankle stress. I may just find myself wearing dry boots with my wet suit so I can use these year round... yes they are that nice...

Rating: stiff but good
Reviewer: sack igarashi, Thursday, July 26, 2007 - View all my reviews
I had split fins before which have there place but the slipstream fins are great for fine fining. They dont kick up a lot of silt and are quite stiff. I am liking these fins. Mind you for a stiff current I think the split fins are probably better.

Rating: OMS Fins
Reviewer: Jeremy Gibbs, Friday, July 20, 2007
I have used Mares Avanti, Scubapro Jet fins, and now the OMS slipstream fins. So far, the OMS fins have been my favorite due to the size, the cost, and most important, the performance. I have better control for moving close to the bottom, a wall, a wreck, and I have more thrust. There is a little more leg muscle required, but it is small compared to the benefits of greater control underwater.

The power in the slipstream fins is un paralleled. I have tried many other styles. If I have to move quickly, swim a great distance or if Im in the open sea treading water in full gear, there is no other fin I would want on my feet.

Very powerful thrust with these fins. If you want a fin that will give you enough power for anything this is it. You will know when you take them off your feet too, although not to heavy for the power given.

Excellent action. Reminds me of the original Scuba Pro fins which I used for 20 yrs before they cracked. The spring heel straps are great also. So good for tech diving.

A little longer than I expected. Great design, seems to move quicker than my older ones, needed to get something that fit better with boots on.
