Rating: axiom i3

this is a great bcd. the toggle switch that operates the dump valves is the best system i have usedair in when you want it, out when you dont. no reaching for kidney dumps or holding a hose in the air. its one less thing to think about. i also thought the integrated weight system worked well. its way better than a weight beltmuch more balanced. this is an expensive bcd but well worth it.

good morning, this is true. Aqua lung doesn't allow us to ship their products outside the us.

  • Paul:

Interested in the Aqua Lung Axiom i3. However, Im slightly between size. Waist and Height are ML, but weith is about 5 pounds above upper threshold. Which size is best?? Also, do you have the ML and L in stock for immediate shipping.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

  • mark:

I really like the features of this BC...but does it allow you to orally inflate the BC if necessary?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

That is a safety feature in all BCDs.

  • Mark:

My wife and are are considering new BCs. We are looking at the Aqua Lung SeaQuest Axiom i3 BC size large and the Aqua Lung Pearl i3 size small... What are the weights of these BCDs?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mark, both BCD's are under 9 lbs.

  • Raul:

Im about a 32" waist, and measure in at around 62 in height. I cant pick out my size from the sizing chart. Which would you recommend?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

When selecting a bcd from the manufacturers sizing chart the waist size will always be the most important dimension. After that height is secondary and usually nothing to be concerned about unless you are a great deal outside the range (12" or more outside) You'd be a size small in this item.

  • Michael:

What denier is the BCD made?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Air cell is 500D Armor Cordura, 1050D ballistic nylon.

  • Doyle:

Is the Sea Quest Axiom i3 BC a jacket style or back inflate?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

    Back inflator.

  • Kyle:

Is there any Aqualung BC that can be used for twin tanks as well as a single tank?

Aaron  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hi Kyle, The Aqualung BC are set up for single tank systems. For Twin systems you'll want to check out the Apeks BC. Example Apeks Black Ice BC or a WTX system. Available for shipment to U.S. zip codes only.

  • Junell:

In order to help you with your question, please contact one of our instructors at info@scuba.com or 800-347-2822.

  • Tim:

I am looking for a BC that floats you face up, does the Axiom

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The jacket style BCs will be the best at floating the diver face up. But a lot depends on the setup, type tank and size, weight belt or weight integrated etc.

  • guy:

heloo. i want to bau this bcd but without the i3 system / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKqfMQlH9Qw you have the same bcd without this system like in the video?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

For information about alternate products please contact our instructors at info@scuba.com or 800-34SCUBA

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Guy, this is a BCD that we can special order for you. Also due to Aqua Lung shipping policy we can only ship there products to US zip codes. The cost on that BCD would be $575.00

  • David:

Can the axiom i3 be used with the atomic SSi safe second regulator?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello David, since the power inflator is a built-in unit you can not use a inline octo with this BCD. You would need to go with a stand alone Octo.

  • Pat:

Does the axiom i3 come with a low pressure inflator hose?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Pat, yes this unit will come with the power inflator hose. Unless stated in the bullet points all BCD come with the power inflator hose.

  • Andrew:

Hi, I have been using a Mares Dragon BCD but find that at the surface I am struggling to keep my face out of the water and am continually rolling around and very unstable. Which BCD would you recommend for me to give me good surface stability, cost is not and issue. I have been told that Sherwood Avid is probably the best as it is not just back inflation. Recommendations please. Many Thanks

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

The Sherwood Avis is on of the best jacket style bcd''s on the market. Any Jacket Style BCD will do this for you. But, as a Course Director and since you do have an extremely nice bcd already, I do need to add this: Remember from your class that proper buoyancy at the surface is chin to eye level at the surface. This in mind, your face is already in the water and the bcd cannot push your face into the water. What happens here is divers will try to emulate the really bad habits their instructor displays on the surface and inflate their bcd until they are neck to shoulder high out of the water. They do this to speak to the class on the surface but very few of them actually explain why it''s wrong and the proper way to maintain surface buoyancy. The Dragon is a Jacket/Hybrid bcd as well. It is not going to offer a great deal different stability at the surface than the Avid. One thing that makes me wonder, besides the fact that it sounds overinflated at the surface is that it sounds like there might be a fit issue on the bcd you currently are using.

  • james:

I am 5 10" 170lbs what size do you recommend waist is 34" How do the sizes run ? I also just want to confirm this is a jacket style well maybe almost a hybrid style. What is the model for this in a womans version.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello James, yes this is a jacket style BCD and going by your Height and Waist the size I would suggest for you is the size Medium

  • JAMES:

What is the female version of this BCD ? I am a new diver and plan to dive both local waters and tropical waters will this BCD be appropriate for both conditions ?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

This bcd, as well as it''s female counterpart the Soul i3 Women''s BC are suitable for temperate or warm water conditions alike.

  • Mike:

I watched the video overview, but do not see how this is orally inflated. Please explain. Thanks

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Mike, on the left side shoulder there is a flex tube you can use to oral inflate the BCD.

The Axiom i3 is our most comfortable and easy-to-use BC yet. It is a feature-rich, ADV style, wrap-around jacket that incorporates the innovative i3 inflation/deflation system (patented). The integrated Wrapture™ harness system (pat. pend.) allows you to stand up straight in total comfort while the cylinder remains perfectly vertical and pulled in close. Diving has never been this comfortable.
The GripLock™ tank band and buckle system makes its debut on the Axiom i3. This strong, secure system makes attachment to a cylinder easier than ever before. Gone are the days of complicated web weaving and you don't have to worry about pinching your fingers with the innovative finger saver feature (pat. pend.)

The Wrapture™ harness system, using the shoulder swivel buckles (patented) and a customized back plate, provides comfort and stability while preventing 'ride-up' at the surface

The i3 Control System (patented) provides single touch control for inflation and deflation.

The low profile flat e-valves (pat. pend.) all open simultaneously when the i3 lever is depressed.

The GripLock™ tank band and buckle system provides security and easy change out of cylinders.

SureLock II weight pouches (patented) provide a simple, single-pull release. Loading is as simple as insert and 'click'.

Pull down oral inflator is easy to deploy, use and stow.

A bladder retraction system is used to pull in the sides of the bladder during deflation

An adjustable chest strap can be raised or lowered on a rail system.

A scooped octo-pocket on the top, front of the right lobe makes it easy to stow and deploy an octopus. The octopus remains visible and accessible throughout the dive.

Some divers may find it useful to run their instruments behind the left pocket and out the scooped opening on the top, front of the lobe.

Pocket within a pocket – A small security pocket is found on the flap of a larger drop-down pocket

Knife attachment points are found on the left lobe

Features 5 stainless steel D-rings and 2 plastic D-rings for all of your accessories.

Right shoulder pull dump

Rolled neck collar for comfort

Available for shipment to U.S. zip codes only
