Rating: Great Computer!
Reviewer: Bill B.,
I purchased this a few months back when Suunto was throwing in the transmitter for free. Its a great computer, especially for the price I paid. This is my first AI computer and its a very nice feature.
Everything was easy to setup and customize for my diving needs.
The transmitter is a tight fit on my SP MK17 but it does fit, barely.
User replaceable battery is nice (I got the low batt indicator when I received the unit, but was easily replaced).
The compass is nice feature as well, most of the time I need a compass its to simply "head north", so the interface should not be an issue, maybe even easier than an analog compass since I can tilt it.
A nice large display that I can see all the information I need, and with the push of a button.
I was a little worried about the signal being lost from the transmitter being my first AI computer, but that has not been an issue. After more testing, I may remove my analog SPG.
Overall a nice computer.

Questions and Answers for Suunto Vyper Air (Nitrox) Hoseless Wrist Computer with Digital Compass:
Deborah:
How reliable is the wireless air integration on the Vyper 2 vs the non wireless air integration on the Cobra 3. Also, can another (backup) pressure gauge be connected in addition to the Cobra 3?
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Deborah, i have not heard anything about losing sync with your computer. As for a back-up analog gauge as long has you have a second HP port on your 1st stage you would be able to have a back-up gauge.
Vagner:
This offer of Suunto Vyper Air comes with the PC data cable for downloading the data or does the cable need to be bought in separated?
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Yes this should include the USB cable.
Deborah:
I have heard some negative comments about Suuntos response to problems. How is it handled when I purchase through you? Do we send products to you or Suunto directly?
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Deborah, you can send it to us or the manufacture directly. With computers unless it is a battery change if there is a issue with them we have to send it back to the manufacture.
Vagner:
Sorry to insist, but you answered "should".
i want to know for sure if the price advertised includes or not the PC data cable.
it is very important because this seems to be an old model, or at least no on the Suunto product line, and i am afraid not not find the cable after the purchase.
Could you please answer if the advertised product - Vyper air with Transmitter - also includes the Download Data Cable?
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Yes it does come with the USB cable. This product is listed in Aqualung's current catalog and is coming from them so it will be the current model.
Paul:
If you use the suunto vyper air without the pressure transmitter ,doe it screw up any other functions of the computer ?
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
No, you just do not have any of the air integrated functions; ie, tank pressure and time to dive based on air usage.
