Rating: Great computer for a good price
Reviewer: Lynn F., Saturday, May 19, 2007
Having used this computer for a couple months now I have been able to determine its strengths and weaknesses. The strengths are as follows:
1. Self adjusts for altitude. (Most of my dives are high altitude fresh water dives between 4,500 – 11,000 feet. It is nice not to have to worry about programming altitudes in it).
2. Allows for two gases, programming and switching between them while under water.
3. Easy computer to learn and use (as opposed to my Suunto Cobra II).
4. Large easy to read numbers with the primary screen containing the depth, dive time, no decompression limit, PO2 monitor, oxygen and nitrogen absorption bar graphs, and accent rate.
5. Has a built in 3 minute safety stop at 20 feet.
6. Figures out decompression stops and times. Most importantly it will NOT lock you out if you make a decompression dive, it will keep track of what level diver you are and adjust your next dives from there.
The weaknesses are as follows:
1. The pressure gauge is small and hard to read under water and the luminosity of the gauge lasts for about 3 seconds after having the light shined on it.
2. The backlight of the computer only stays on for 10 seconds, I would prefer 20 seconds.
3. I was not fond of the console, so I removed it and use it as a wrist computer now.
I bought this computer as a backup computer for my Suunto Cobra II, but now I use it as my primary computer. Bottom line, a great technical computer for a good price, I highly recommend it.
