For a NON CONTINOUS USE compressor the Max air 35 is reliable and relatively quiet. I use this compressor on an island in Georgian Bay and have yet to recieve a complaint from the neighbours about noise level..... thats bc it is not that noisy. Make sure you place the compressor on sturdy ground so that the metal casing does not rattle. Also make sure you buy multiple air filters bc you need to replace these every 10 hours. If you are not electrically savy then consider hiring someone to do the configuration for you or purchase the gasoline version. Also ensure you have a 30 amp line running to wherever you want to put this guy bc if not you will increase your costs.

Reviewer: Mark Swenson,
The Max Air 35 met or exceeded our expectations. And was in fact faster at filling dive tanks quicker than the large compressor at the Two Harbors dive shop. The motor is a bit noisy, so be kind to your neighbors.

this compressor is idea for your own personal use. easy starting, no hastle and user friendly. i would highly recommend this compressor for anyone who fills and uses 2 to 10 tanks of air per day. maybe the only down side would be that the unit is fairly loud so dont expect to fill in your back yard during late hours, your neighbours may not like it.

Reviewer: Andrew B Mendenhall MD,
We are very satisfied with the compressor for delivering a timely and clear air fill. We use our compressor aboard a 28 foot sailboat in the Sea of Cortez. It is a bit bulkyfor our small boat but we constructed a storage box that keeps toes and feet from finding the compressor as we move about down below. (doubles as a seat in the cockpit when at anchor) It is important to factor in the expendables section in terms of use and cost. We recommend getting a few extra filters and some compressor oil, change regularly and consult the thermometer and manufacturers guide to determine the expected lifespan for the filters lest you find yourself with the inability to fill lots of tanks. Exceeds expectations in all!

Questions and Answers for Max Air Max Air 35 Standard Compressor:
Philip:
If this compressor is used to charge Nitrox cylinders with just air, do the cylinders have to be O2 cleaned after or are the oils/filters compatible with Nitrox?
Bill (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
This is strictly for air and should not be used for filling nitrox.
victor:

If I want the Max Air 35 with the single phaze electric motor does it come "plug and play" or do I have to do some wiring?
Also, how much is it with the electric motor?

Nick:
I am looking for a compressor to be installed on a boat. Only place big enough is the engineroom. Whats your opinion on an 220v aplication being used when engineroom cool and air braught in from outside. Its a spacious stand up engineroom on large sportsfish.
Darrick (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com)
:
Hello Nick, if you are going to be running it down in the engine room. Then you are going to need to make sure the the exhaust from anything be taken inside the air intake of the compressor. As long as that happens I do not see why you would not be able to fill a few tanks. Just to let you know this compressor is not designed to be running on a continued base. If you are only filling a few tank then turning it off to let it cool down before running it again. If you would like to place an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
Max Air 35 Compressor
One of the biggest arguments about purchasing scuba gear online as opposed to your local dive shop has been that you can’t buy air online! They’ll try to convince the diver that they’ll get to their destination and not have air if the local dive shop isn’t supported, of that if the local shop goes away, they’ll miss out on all those spur of the moment dives that air fills might be needed for. There have been many times over the years that I’ve taken off for a weekend of diving someplace and the conditions were so surprisingly fantastic that I wished I’d have thought to bring more cylinders. Or even more commonly, there have been more times than I care to count over the last 30 years that I’ve had to pass on a spur of the moment evening dive because I hadn’t filled my cylinders after my last dive and by the time I got home the local dive shop was going to be closed. My poor pre-planning or bad timing has caused many missed adventures with squid runs, grey whales, porpoise, and other exciting to see rare dives for the average diver. But no more.
The Max Air 35 compressor is perfect for these exact types of divers. The perfect “personal compressor”, it’s designed to be a smaller portable compressor made to fill a few bottles through out the week or month for the average recreational diver. It is available in electrical 110v or 220 volt versions as well as gas powered. I chose the gas powered unit for portability. I can throw it into the back of my truck and take it along for those weekend trips that I didn’t plan to do more than a dive but found that my buddy and I can’t resist another dive or 3 for what ever reason. I’ll never again miss out on one of those spur of the moment, after-work dives as it is capable of filling an average aluminum 80 cylinder in about 20 – 25 minutes. In the time it takes me to get my gear together and set to load, my bottles are filled and ready.
The compressor is extremely easy to maintain. If you can keep your lawn mower running this won’t be any more difficult. The only difference is keeping an eye on the filter cartridge, which is extremely easy to check and replace. It can be done in less than a minute. The oil is a common synthetic compressor oil from Max Air that can be picked up pretty commonly at any Max Air Dealer.
If you are the diver that thinks they have everything, I’d recommend looking at this unit. At the price it’ll be well over 600 dives before you actually save money on your fills, but what price can you put on not having to hear about being the diver in your group that missed “that one amazing dive”. So, who says you can’t buy air from an internet retailer?
