Rating: XS Scuba Weight Pouch Review - $3.95 - Scuba Gear Customer Reviews

When you dont want to have a weight pouch filled with something you dont know, this is great. You can put in your own weight, and know exactly what is inside. The Velcro makes whatever is inside very secure.

Rating: XS Scuba Weight Pouch Review - $3.95 - Scuba Gear Customer Reviews
Reviewer: David F.
With this pouch, and the other pouches tailored to other weights, one can easily make up weights that are comfortable, accurate and easily handles without lead oxide or lead dust. The key to accuracy is an inexpensive digital kitchen scale which will let you meassure out weights to a fraction of an ounce. The key to avoiding lead oxide or lead dust is to use nickel-plated shot that is available from reloading supply outlets, albeit at a premium to ordinary lead shot. While more expensive than ordinary chilled shot, the cost is comparable with that of pre-molded lead weights. I recommend using a bit of fabric paint, available in craft stores, to clearly mark the weight in large lettering on the pouch. The bags are sturdy, and with a double velcro closure, quite secure.

Rating: Nice Weight Pouches

This is a nice weight pouch. The velcro closure does securely hold the lead shot. You can save quite a bit of money by filling these pouches with reclaimed (recycled) leadshot (available from several internet sources).

Rating: Works great!
Reviewer: David C.
After accidentally breaking open several pouches of soft weights, I found these pouches as a solution. They were just what I needed and worked very well. I have had some reclosable pouches for lead shot in the past but the velcro eventually got weak enough to let shot dribble out. The velcro in these pouches is quite a bit more robust, however, and I think they should last a long time.

Rating: Dive weights on the Cheap
Reviewer: Sean L.
After looking at other soft weights, and seeing the $4/lb price tage, this seemed like a no brainer. I bought 4 5lb bags, figuring I could adjust the weight as needed in each up to 5 lbs, then for about $50, had 25lbs of reclaimed lead shot shipped to my house. I cleaned off all the dirt and such, measured out the shot for each pouch, and the double velcro flap seemed to hold it all in pretty well. havent dove with them yet, but I dont foresee any differnces or problems coming up. And the ability to adjust the amount in the bag is nice (just because the pouch says 5 on it, doesnt mean thats whats in there).

Rating: Outstanding

Went to gun store and got a bag of number 8 shotgun lead and used kitchen scale to fill bags. This way I can adjust the weight of the bag.

Rating: Just a better way to carry weight
Reviewer: Adam K.  -  View all my reviews
go ahead and make the investment. the fit better in you bcd, dont hurt (as much) when you them on your foot or the boat deck, you can take weight out of them if you need them to weigh less but still want the pouch, the weight amount is always readily identifiable, and they are not that much more expensive.

Rating: XS weight pouches

Very well constructed weight pouches for your BC. Easy to load and double velcro closure to prevent spillage of lead shot. Mesh allows easy rinsing after a dive.

Great little pouches. Save a bunch buying reclaimed shot form the range and these pouches. EZ to get exactly what you need for the diving configuration you are using.
