i thought if they had anything like, say, a sausage, a whistle or a mirror, the captain would not have missed them and they would not have been left behind. but they didnt. ive brought it with me on a number of dives in bonaire where all our dives were shore dives. the kit did not get in the way while diving, and was hassle freei clipped it to a d-ring on my waist. the sausage is much longer than i initially imagined, which is actually a good thing. the entire package was light and did not take too much space, whether while diving or traveling. the only drawback is you should remember to unroll the sausage after diving so it can dry inside the rolls. also, some water leaked into it, but it dried after i partially inflated the sausage. also some of the red color did run, but not much. overall, i think its a good purchase.

Comes with the signal tube, whistle, glow stick and mirror. Its a little bit bulky, but its understandable since the signal tube has to be tall when inflated. I definitely recommend it, but I hope Ill never have to use it.

OH MY GOD, I AM SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS DAN SURFACE SIGNAL KIT. Was diving in the Philippines off the island of Boracay. Had a very scary dive. Our group of 4 got caught in a nasty current and came up about a 1/2 mile away from our boat in very heavy chop. The dive masters (very old) surface signal float, had a bad leak and would not stay up, AND THE BOAT DIDNT SEE US! I started to panic, until I inflated the DAN float, which the boat saw. This thing saved us. I was so glad I bought this item. Its easy to use and great quality. Be sure to get a line for it, as it comes without one.

HUGE SMB! I get comments on this all the time. Safety whistle, mirror, and glow stick are nice additions as well. I wish it were slightly more compact, but otherwise very happy with this purchase. I think everyone should own one.

I bought this kit after looking around on the internet for an all in one safety pack. I was very pleased with the quality of all the products that are in this handy pack. I took it with me on a dive trip to Cozumel a couple of weeks ago & was asked a few times about it by other divers. I didnt have to use it but was glad that I had it. Its funny how safety equipment is like that.... you buy something & hope to not have to use it. :) I highly recomend this kit.

Once inflated, seems very good. A bit of a fiddle to inflate however - either by mouth, removing BC inflator hose and manually pressing onto the SMB, or by regulator purge from the base (which also pushes water into the SMB which is difficult to remove). Storage of light stick and mirror is a space saving idea. I removed the whistle to save more space as I carry one on my BC. Based on my research seemed to be the best colour and size combination.

The type of thing you hope you never have to determine its value. On my first dive witht the unit, the trip organizer said that he wished everyone would invest in this type quality product. He has seen some pretty shabby items and would hate to rely on them for rescus. It looked pretty complete when I unrolled the unit and inspected it.

I have several SMBs, and this is the best. When we were in rough seas, this one stood out better than the others that people were using, mainly because it is BIG. It is a little less handy to carry with you because of the size, but worth it when you need it.

We like the compac unit, is keeps the whisle, Signal mirror Chemical lightstick all in one spot and clips easily to the D ring on the BCD. Easy to inflat and deflate rolls up very easily and stores well in your gear bag.
