I am currently doing the Divemaster course in Utila Honduras and was advised to buy this book prior to arrival. Per PADIs program, Divemaster completion is partially precedented on your ability to pass certain tests (physics, physiology, equipment, etc) which are written up in the corresponding Diving Encyclopedia. This knowledge workbook is a partner piece to the Encyclopedia and gives you sample problems in advance of the test, to help you hone your skills. The explanation of the answers to the contained sample tests are fine, but could be better. They are presented in verbal explanation format, rather than math format (i.e., think high school match problems on the blackboard. This is what most of them are, but they are presented more in words than columns, formulas, etc.) It would be helpful if there were more examples to work on, to ensure that you know the formulas, rather than just the answer to that question, as presented in the book. The multiple choice format is deceptive, as there are actually some fill in the blanks (with NUMBERS that youve CLACULATED) on the real test. If you can grab ahold of this temporarily for study purposes, do. It is more useful than nothing. However, this is not a book which will be the centerpiece of your library (diving or other) much after you get your certificate (even if you keep diving).
