Rating: Great Boots
Reviewer: Dawn Klein
Bought these for my boyfriend for Christmas.. I read the previous reviews about the sizing and they are slightly larger than a normal size would be..but I took that into account and they fit perfect! Hes very happy with them :)

Rating: Great boots!!

upgraded to these boots from a cheap pair of 3mm boots. I am very happy with the switch because the quality and durability of these boots are much better.

Good fit. Great value. Keep my feet warm in the sea with temps in the low 50s. A zipper is essential when pulling on wet or damp boots. Boots with no zipper, no matter how "super stretch" dont work.

Rating: Great Boot
Reviewer: Andrew E.
Read the reviews that said sizes tend to run large so I got an 11 rather than the 12. Boots fit great and are a quality product. Keeps the dogs warm at depth!

Rating: very comfortable
Reviewer: Richard Barker
These boots are more comfortable than any ive ever worn. I live in GA,bought these to go diving, and I actually wear them around the house. Its been so cold lately,so wearing these are more comfy then docker shoes, and an ease to take on and off.I love the added padding on the heel,so my fin straps dont blister my heels. A must to have. Recomended 100%

Rating: good boots but order a size smaller
Reviewer: Jason Craven
I normally wear a size 12, but these boots are loose even in size 11. They are extremely comfortable and grippy, but a snugger fit would be better. Also, a velcro or other zipper lock would help keep the zipper from undoing during surface swims.

Questions and Answers for Mares 5mm Classic Medium Sole Zipper Dive Boots:

  • Alem:

Pls. I am number 9 but on some forums there is tip to buy one number smaller boots in order to fit better and what size of fins mares X3 i knead to chose is it better 7-9 or 9-11 Best regards !

Greg  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

If you are a size 9, than get the 9-11 fins. If the fins are too small, you will get cramps in your toes.

  • George:

Im looking at the mare 5mm classic med boot. I wear a size 9 1/2 shoe what size would I want in this boot.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Always purchase your boots based on your normal sneaker style shoe size. Scuba boots are not made in 1/2 sizes so the manufacturers recommend you round up to the next nearest full size.

  • Frank:

I am not a diver. But am looking for this type of product to use when fly fishing in lakes where you use a float tube and fins to get around lake. Normal fly fishing boots are made for rivers and are very heavy. I am thinking this would be a lot lighter. My sneaker size is 10.5 to 11 depending upon the manufacturer. Remember I would have on a wader suite with neoprene socks built in. So I am thinking 12?? Anyone use there fly fishing?

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Frank, yes depending on the thickness of the sock you have on your waders yes going up one or two sizes would work.

  • Bill:

Looking to order the Mares boots. I see on here that they run big and should order 1 size smaller. Is this the case with this brand? I just want to make sure I order correct.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

We do see reports suggesting the purchase a size smaller would work best with this boot. The only thing we can tell you officially is that the manufacturer recommends using your normal sneaker style shoe sizing to purchase the boots.

  • Frank:

How high are these boots in inches?

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Unfortunately we do not have anything to measure them with at this time and the manufacturer does not offer that info. They are high top boots that come over the top of the ankle, though.

  • Min:

I usually wear shoes in size 7.5 (245mm). What size should I choose? I heard that this item is a little bit bigger than others.

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Min, since you are a 7.5 you would round up to a size 8. I think that these boots run true to size.

  • Dave:

I dont really like your new classic booty. Can I still get your original style booty? Thanks, Dave

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

It''s really not "our" bootie. We are simply the retailer. The boot is manufactured by Mares. Unless specifically noted, all items we offer are the most current available by the manufacturer.

Flexa DS

The exclusive design of the sole features a system of drainage grooves (DS Draining System), which prevent the suction effect between boot and foot pocket.
Donning and doffing a fin becomes much easier. Ideal for those who have to cover large distances on foot to the dive site.

Trilastic

Trilastic is our distinctive marking, the symbol of Mares know-how in terms of Neoprene.

At the start, Trilastic was identified with the idea of developing a dive suit with Neoprene sheets of different thicknesses. The greatest thickness is positioned at the core chest area and back, gradually thinning out on the arms and legs down to the wrists and ankles, where the material used is not just thinner but also more elastic, to improve seal and, of course, facilitate putting the suit on and taking it off.

Today, Trilastic has greater meaning. It is a world of materials, linings, finishes, zippers, and technical details that all aim to create the ideal suit for every need and every type of dive. Trilastic means mating the most suitable type of material to each section of the body for that particular type of dive.
