Reviewer: Brooke Brines
Excellent boot for the price. Ive used them 15 times or so for river/lake kayaking here in Michigan (air temp 45 + to 30 F, some ice on still waters). 18 inch boot is great for stepping in and out for kayak launch and landings. Neoprene boots are of course not "waterproof" but these allow me to stand in a foot of ice water for a minute or so with no water sloshing between my toes afterwards . Size runs a little short and wide. (Based on a sample of two pair). My actual shoe size is 81/2 EEEE. 4E is generally a tough fit for athletic or casual shoes. For example I have a pair of indoor soccer shoes that are size 101/2 which are great but only after I added a heel cup cut out of an old pair of jogging shoes. I originally ordered these boots in a mens size 9 which were actually too short. Width was a little tight - for me,- but I would have kept them if they had been longer. I replaced the size 9s with a mens size 10 which are fine for length and wider than I need - but well within the adjustment range of the foot strap.

Rating: Neoprene Boots Great boots - Plus size woman purchase
Reviewer: Jacqueline L.
These boots are great if you have large calves. Theyre very stretchy. I would recommend buying a size larger. I wear a womens size 11 W and ordered a size 12 mens. A size 11 mens would of been fine too. I wanted a larger size for wool socks. I wore them in the snow 12 degree F. and my feet stayed warm and dry. Excellent traction and very, very comfortable. These boots pulled up right below the knee cap. The neoprene is unbelievable for winter wear even out of the water.

This is the second time I purchased these boots. THey finally started to leak after the hard bottoms on the boot started to crack and split away from the neoprene and the constant bending in the boot ankle made them no longer leak proof after abusing them for 2 years kayak fishing and surf fishing the winters in Florida. I liked them so much that I bought a second pair. Make sure you order a size larger as they run SUPER small. I wear a womens 7 and ordered a 7 and fit like a womens 6. Return and exchange shipping will cost you so be careful how you order. Customer service will not help in this matter.

Rating: kayak booties excell
Reviewer: Mike K.
Best buy ever. These booties are the perfect answer for getting in and out of your kayak at shore. The 18" high upper keeps me warm and dry. The soles are solid enough to make walking on any surface from the launch to my vehicle a breeze. Velcro strap across the arch snugs the bootie just enough while the nylon cinch strap at the top perfectly seals out water and keeps the bootie in place where it is supposed to. Easy on, easy off. I am a kayak angler and have tried lots of water shoes, surf booties, sandals but nothing comes close to how satisfied I am about these. No more chilly Puget Sound feet and legs for me. Mike

Rating: They Actually Work
Reviewer: Stevens Crowe
Got my new boots and tried them out paddling on the Southern coast of Texas. I was very happy with them. They kept my feet warm and they handled walking on both mud and oyster reefs. Water was 53 degrees and weather was cold and wet. Air temperature was in the 40s. No problem. I am a pretty good sized fella, but I still had enough room in the boots to cover my wetsuit and rain pants. Did some wade fishing so they got wet inside. No problem. Kept my feet reasonably warm if not dry.

This pair was for my wife and were too small but I had purchased a pair at the same time. These are excellent boots for getting in and out of water, no leaks and warm with a pair of socks, water temps in the mid 40s. Have used them several times and I am completely satisfied. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Questions and Answers for Neosport by Henderson 5mm Explorer Kayak Boots:

  • Steve:

My wife wears womens size 8. What size would she order for these boots?

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

The drop down box for selecting sizing on boots will give both the mens and women's conversion size for unisex products such as boots. For a lady's size 8 boot she'll want to choose men's size 7.

  • rob:

Information on return/exchange policy if boots did not fit correctly or some other valid concern??

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Rob, if you go to That will explain our return policy. If you would like to place an order or have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.

  • russ:

I wear size 7 shoe but will be wearing wool socks should I go to a size 8 or stay with a 7. I do not want it too tight as my feet get cold and numb. Thanks for all your answers.

    Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Better to go up one size.

  • Louise:

Am interested in the "Neosport by Henderson 5mm Explorer Kayak Boot". I have very thin legs. My calf just below my knee is 11.5 inches around and my shoe - 7.5 womans. 1. I kayak and want to be sure that I can tighten up the boot so water does not get in at the knee. 2 Also what size should I order. Thank you.

    Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

The best we can tell you is that the manufacturer always recommends purchasing your boots using your normal "sneaker-style" shoe sizing. They tighten up well, but unfortunately unsure how small.

  • Jordan:

Im a big guy and have large calves, my bare calves measure 19" in circumference. I would be buying these for winter paddling which means I would be layering my clothes (long johns and some sort of pants) and tucking them into the boots. I wear a size 9-10 shoe but I would probably order an 11 in these boots. Would these fit my calves with clothing also?

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Jordan, in the size 11 you would be able around 20"-22" Dia. I have a size 17" calves and tried on the size 11 and had a good 4"-6" Dia of space that could be used to tuck in your winter gear.

  • Susan:

i searched for "minimal snow boot" and this boot came up in the results. is this a zero shoe - no raised heel, not even by a little? is the sole flexible? will my feet stay dry walking in the snow? the description says, "not a fully dry boot". do you carry a fully dry boot that you can suggest? thank you for your help. this was an unexpected search result and im not familiar with these kind of boots.

    Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at

Hello Susan, this boot does have a medium style sole but they do not have any type of arch support built into them. Unless you are walking in snow that is higher than half way up your calk (top of the boot) your feet would stay dry. So if you wanted to wear wool socks in these boots you could to help keep your feet warm. These boots are designed for Kayaker that enter and exit the water in the shallows to get in and out of there boat without getting there feet wet.
