What would I need to take to A Jamaican resort to be able for them to attach this mask to their equipment/air tanks.
i am aware that you probably would not recommend someone with epilepsy to dive however i love diving and do not want to stop. in addition, my condition is under control by medication and i always dive with a buddy. but in the rare case that i would have a seizure under water, i would need a mask that enables me to breath through both my nose and mouth until my buddy gets me to the surface. would you recommend i use this mask or a different mask for that type of situation.
Based on your description this would work as you are seeking. and yes, our professional advice would be to strictly follow the advice of a physician with knowledge of diving and the effects of your medication under pressure. Remember, the ppm of substances absorbed into your system is going to increase with the pressures of increased atmospheres, just like the substances in the gasses you breath. Even normal medication that is okay on the surface can have adverse reactions at depth. A very good example is Oxygen. While O2 is perfectly safe to breathe at the surface, remember that it's toxic in as little as 20 feet of depth.
How does the performance of this mask with regard to clearance of CO2 build-up compare with the Interspiro AGA MkII - i.e. are do they use the same/similar system? Is it handled well at all? Or is this the big difference between the 2 masks?? Thanks, Mike.
The Guardian FFM is on sale for 499.95 plus the option of Buddy Phone for 380.00. These two combined will it allow two divers to communicate or is there more parts to buy, Gary

Hello Sui, this item is a one size fits all. Also this will work at your depth requirements. Also there is an adjustable nose piece that you can move up and down to fit different size faces. If you have any other questions please feel free to give us a call at 1.800.347.2822.
Does a person consume more air with the full mask
No. The full face mask doesn''t change the divers breathing rate.
How does this mask compare with the Ocean Reef? I dove this past weekend with an Ocean Reef that was about 10 years old (I assume the design hasnt changed - looks identical to the new ones). I found that I had to put more effort into inhaling compared to a normal in the mouth 2nd stage. Even with the flow adjusted, at times it seems difficult to breath. I understand because of the distance between your mouth and the 2nd stage it can require more effort, but I was expecting it to be a little easier breathing.
The regulators have improved greatly in the last 10 years. Now they use a balanced 2nd stage which maintains ease of breathing. A ffm will seem different on the inhalation due to the extra volume but if the mask is put on and adjusted properly you should not even notice a difference after a few minutes of diving it. Either mask make an excellent choice. Setup and adjustment can make or break your experience.
Would this be an option for someone with a mustache and bears that doesnt want to shave it off?
OTS Guardian Full Face Mask
The Guardian line of Full-Face Masks (FFMs) is OTS' most recent innovation. Designed to meet the demanding needs of today's Commercial/Professional Diver, it leverages the best features found on other FFMs with unique features designed by OTS. The Guardian FFM comes in the following color combinations (skirt/hardware): black/black, black/blue, black/red, black/pink, blue/black, and yellow/black.
Features of the Guardian FFM include:
Removable 2nd stage for easy cleaning and storage (can't be used w/o mask)
Made of a one-piece, non-rigid silicone skirt combined with injection-molded, high-impact, glass-filled ABS plastic frame and regulator housing
A double face seal and slightly smaller oral nasal cavity to fit most faces
Equalization occurs through a nose block.
Air flow is directed up over the visor to eliminate fogging and through one-way valves in the oral nasal pocket to reduce CO2 retention.
2nd stage comes off the right shoulder and uses a standard LP hose
Includes a communications port for easy installation of a Buddy Phone® or ear/microphone assembly to connect an OTS Diver Communications Unit such as the Aquacom® SSB-2010
Includes OTS' Ambient Breathing Valve®, Mask Bag, and LP hose
1. How do you equalize in the Guardian Full-Face Mask?
Equalizing in the Guardian is simple. First you must adjust the equalizing assembly to fit you. We offer different size pads to build up the equalizing assembly to fit your nose. The equalizing block can also be moved higher or lower. You will then push up on the base of the regulator which will push the equalizing assembly up on your nose, blocking your nostrils, and allowing you to equalize.
2. What happens if my mask floods?
First off, due to the positive pressure inside the mask, it is very difficult to get water inside the mask. Even if you break the seal underwater, air will push water out instead of water coming in. Having said that, if you do manage to flood your mask, simply look up and press the purge button on your regulator. This will drain out the water. Resume normal position and take a hesitant breath to ensure all water is displaced. Repeat as necessary.
3. Can I use any 2nd Stage Regulator with my mask?
No. The only 2nd stage regulator that can be used with the Guardian is the OTS-designed regulator that is built into the mask.
4. I need glasses. Is there a kit for this?
Yes! Contact your OTS salesperson to find out how to install the eye wear accessory kit made for the Guardian. Your mask is already set up to use this!
5. What happens if my mask fogs? Do I still need defogger?
Due to the unique air system of Full-Face Masks you do not need any defogging agent. Your mask will not fog!
6. What happens if I forget to close my Ambient Breathing Valve® (ABV®)?
It’s always best to remember to close your ABV, however, if you forget to close it chances are you will be fine – no water will come in. That is, of course, as long as you remain at an upright position while underwater. If you leave your ABV open and invert upside down you can expect to flood your mask – and very quickly.
7. What’s the difference between Positive Pressure and Demand (Semi-Positive Pressure) regulators? Why would I choose one over the other?
The Guardian Full-Face mask is a demand regulator with a semi-positive nature. Having said that, positive pressure is a feature of some full-face masks primarily used by SCBAs to continually deliver air to you whether you are demanding it or not. These are used for fire fighting and hazmat emergency response. Positive pressure is designed to keep contaminants out of the mask if there were a break in the seal by blowing air out. A demand regulator gives you air as you “demand” an inhale when properly sealed.
7B.) Is a demand regulator positive pressure on a full-face mask while underwater?
Yes. A demand regulator does maintain a slight positive pressure while in an upright orientation. This is due to the position of the regulator being lower than that of the rest of the mask.
8. What if I run out of air while diving a full-face mask? How do I buddy breathe?
If you are diving a full-face mask, it is highly recommended you are familiar with emergency procedures and are comfortable doing them underwater. Get in a pool and practice if need be. Read your manual!
It is highly recommended that you have a spare air supply octopus, pony bottle, etc. and a small spare mask on you. If you run out of air, remove your full-face mask, utilize your spare air and don your small mask. You cannot buddy breathe using a full-face mask.
9. Does the Guardian come in different sizes?
Nope. One size fits most. Because of the Guardian’s unique double seal, the mask will fit almost everyone. If the first seal doesn’t fit properly, we’ll get you on the second seal.
10. Does the silicon material of the skirt degrade or lose shape? Is it as durable as rubber?
The silicone material is sturdy as can be and does not warp or degrade. You can fully expect for your Guardian Full-Face Mask to maintain its durability and shape regardless of how often you use it.
11. I want to use my Guardian with a Hookah system. What must I do for this?
We do not recommend using the Guardian with a Hookah system. The air pressure required for the Guardian is 135 psi, which is a much higher requirement than most Hookahs. Although it can be done, you may not be able to enjoy the Guardian at its full potential.
12. Why does the Guardian Visor have frosted sides? Can I get the visor without this?
Years of experience have taught us that without frosting the sides of the visor, many people experience vertigo, dizziness, or distorted views. Frosting the sides of the visor eliminates those problems and still allows for a great field of vision. Frosted visors are the only way they come.
