The best off the rack wetsuit money can buy. The fit is perfect and the insulation cant be beat. When I say the fit is perfect for me, pick the right size and it will be perfect for you! Rinse, drip dry and plan you next dive. No worries!!!

The suit is great however I order the jacket and farmers john and one of them wasnt in and had to wait for both pieces before it was shipped. I had opt the additional shipping fee to get the items order in 3 business day and piad for it but the delay was waiting for Scuba.com to get both peices before shipping...kinda defeated the express idea of it.

Questions and Answers for Henderson 7mm Thermoprene Farmer John Wetsuit:

  • Dot:

Does this have velcro on one or both shoulders?

Bill  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Typically the women style has velcro on both shoulders, but the men's just on one side.

  • Pete:

I really do not want to get into dry suits. But, the Atlantic Ocean can get really cold at times. I am thinking to buy the 7mm farmer john bottom wetsuit in ONE size larger, so as to fit a 2mm under it. I have never doubled up, so I am not sure if this IDEA can work. Has anybody tried wearing a 7mm farmer john wetsuit over a 2mm wetsuit, so as to get a little bit warmer? If yes, did you need to ONE up in size so the 2mm fits below? Thank you.

Bob  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Typically your best bet is to get the best fitting suit possible in the thickness for your water temps. A farmer john suit is already a 2-piece wetsuit with the top and bottom halves giving a double layer of insulation at the torso. Usually that is all that is needed for even the coldest of water conditions a person would wear a wetsuit in.

  • Mark:

Want a wetsuit. I am very cold tolerant. (do cold water ocean swims, etc.) 63 - 64 and 244 lbs, fit, muscled, 50 years old. Chest 47 - 48", 57" around shoulders, waist 38" thigh 25-26" and calf 19" large and muscled. Have a polar dry. & Have a 7mm - 8mm semi dry integral hood great for cold water. Love it/hate it. I hate getting it on and off , pulling hood overhead, etc. Feel like stuffing a sausage (even with a diveskin). It might be just a little small for neanderthal man...but no water sloshes around...so its toasty when needed...can dive mid 30s seawater with a warm preheat bottle dumped in no problem when emergency calls for a reasonable period. New England has cold water early season, and depth always cool. Can be very warm out in early summer, deep water still cold...by time the tug of war to put the semi dry on is done....and head is encased in 7mm rubber....my core temperature is like deep fried chicken....have to hop in or overheat... put on a hot stiff suit, get seriously overheated, roll around on deck of my dive boat in the waves waiting for others...and you feel green before you hit the water... Want a suit easy on-easy off. moderate temps...48-low 60s water... I wear a 2-3 mil tropical for most shallow dives in new england by late summer henderson farmer john seemed attractive... looks easy on... can add doubler if cold, or just a hood and leave arms for moderate... like the idea of bare arms for swimming and working on underwater equipment too...such as boats, recovery work, etc...... Not sure if henderson is big enough for a gorilla like me.... and what other thoughts and options present for an EASY OFF AND ON SUIT WITH GOOD FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT that isnt a fight in hot weather cold water situations. Tired of feeling like a cooked oscar meyer weiner before i hit the water.... Suggestions for anything, any brand open... thought about a shell dry suit...but I am truly half fish and think I would would prefer wet except in the most extreme conditions...like i do now. Not sure I want to deal with seals every year either... ideas??

do not know what size have a 38 inh waist 44 inch bust 44 inch hips not sure if this wet suit stretchs as i would order large size i beleive the wet suit need to be close to the body and not to buy too big is this correct

Darrick  (Certified Scuba Instructor at Scuba.com):

Hello Doreen, yes the suit should fit snug but not uncomfortable. when you are sizing a wetsuit or dive skin. The two most important measurements are going to be your chest/bust and waist. Height is a secondary measurement and weight is the last measurement you take into account.
