I am using this for snorkeling offshore while kayaking. This tool makes me visible to passing boats. It is compact enough to take anywhere. Id previously had a float with a large styrofoam float. It was good but bulky. Your inflatable flag is easy topack and set up.

I purchased the marker so that boaters will see the location of where I was in the water. I like the ease of inflation and deflation. Stores easy in my equipment bag. The only fault I find is that it has not weight on the bottom of the float. I had to tie a weight to the bottom to keep the flag upright.

I use my new dive float and flag for the first time at the last weekend of October 2011 well I was snorkeling Nanaimo BC Canada. It worked like the ad said,I use water inside as like the instruction said and it worked very well.

we bought two of these for snorkeling for scallops and are very pleased. it is weighted by water you add to a compartment in the bottom of the float. because of the surface float, it is always visible to boaters, even when we swim with it. it is very lightweight and easy to pull with you. the flag isnt necessary for visibility, but it meets the legal obligation to have a dive flag when snorkeling. before, we used a dive flag with a foam float and a lead weight to hold it upright. when we swam with that one, it flattened out and wasnt visible to boaters. we also tried a canvas float with a rubber tube, it was more visible, but very bulky and put a lot of drag on the snorkeler. the scuba dive flag and float is the best snorkeling flag we have found and i definitely recommend it as a flag that is easy to pull with you. it also stores efficientlyjust deflate and empty the water. you could travel with this outfit.

This is a great float for the price, great for travel as it fits in bag with no problem. Took it to the BVIs for sailing/scuba diving for a week, and it worked well. Flag fell out of base on last dive as we pulled it back on boat and had to dive back in to get it.

The blowup flag float works well.
It stows in easily in a dive bag and deploys
in a few seconds. Even a son-in-law can figure it out.
It can be used with or w/o the water ballast.
When towed it works well with a line reel. Best of all, boaters can SEE it!

I was looking for an inexpensive "diver below" float/flag for some time now.
I am perfectly happy with this item. You cant beat the price. And for this price I wasnt expecting anything more. I have one to use on a regular basis, but wanted a small portable one that could be used on the spur of the moment. This is perfect.
When you add the water to the bottom pouch it really does stabilize the float. The flag only goes up 18" (not appropriate for big ocean waves). I keep this in the bottom of my dive bag.
I give this 5 stars because it was everything it claimed to be, not because its the best dive flag on the market

Dive buddies really like this float. It will remain upright IF you follow directions and add water to the pocket built into the base. The team says its easy to take along both in the water, and deflated in the gear bag. Much easier to deal with than the foam ball and stick type. Easily inflated by mouth.

Make sure you read all the reviews!!! tie the flag to secure it to the pole. This flag is not made well but perfect for the travel bag to be leagal in states like Florida that require a flag. I have not used it yet but inspected it and it looks like it will work fine and is small so stuffs into the dive bag.

Something you should be aware of is flag height is short However that is the trade off for it being compact. Certainly much better than no flag. This was as described and I am happy with this purchase. maui mike

The flag that comes with this IS NOT 12x15. I just measured it and its a little smaller than 12x12. SMALLER that legal size. Save your life and get a real flag.

this float is a good size -easily seen and it is easy to store away.After reading the reviews,I drill four small holes into the flag and pole.Put four tie wires(mechanical plastic ties) and clipped off the ends.I used this in the swimming pool and in a dive cove.Each time- other people and divers noticed the float right away. Hey........admit it..........we all get concerned a little if there are boats around and youre diving. This float and flag is visible from a long ways and you cannot take chances when your safety is at risk. However, it does topple over alot if you do not have direct pressure applied from below. Easily fixed though if you tie some sort of light weight to the bottom. Great product for the price.

Although it is not huge, the float and marker is big enough to see well. I use it on local deep lakes that I dive in to mark our decent and accent location. It works very well. Just do as others have described by placing a screw in the flag to fasten it to the pole so it doesnt fall off. No problems for me....

The Good: The product design is great for the ease of portability. I travel by kayak to my favorite snorkeling spots and it takes up almost no room in my dive bag. The Bad: The product design is terrible based on the choice of material and manufacturing method. The plastic flag is spot-welded (e.g. melted) to the plastic flag stick. On my unit, the bottom weld was too deep and crimped the flag stick. Within an hour of use on the very first dive the flag stick failed at the crimp and flopped over like a dead fish making the flag virtually invisible to approaching boats. Not good. Upon returning home, I shoved a length of heavy gauge wire through the hollow plastic flag to give it some support. Now it just leans slightly. I guess you get what you pay for...

We used this float on a shore dive on Hawaii and it worked just fine. Following advice on other reviews, we had zip-tied the flag to the support before we left on the trip. Its a very good buy and easy to take with you on a trip.

This flag was exactly what i was looking for you can easily blow it up by mouth and when your done with your dive deflate it to have it fit perfectly into your dive bag, also when blown up it is large enough to be visible from a good distance. perfect addition for any diver at an excellent price

We use a dive flag on the boat, but other boaters dont seem to notice it. With this in the water it gets more attention. It inflates and deflates easily and fits in the dive bag. The only complaint I have is the nylon rope used to attach was not finished at then end and frays and doesnt tie off easily. We are going to have to use a differnt type of rope to tie off with. But other wise its great, I can tie it off the anchor rope for it to float several feet from the boat to alert other boaters.

The compact size makes it a great buoy for travelling when space is a premium. Works great for lakes or minimal surf areas when you need to tow it. Wouldnt be suitable for ocean/bays with heavy winds or tide.

Weve used this several times. If you want peace of mind and a greater sense of security, I highly recommend that you purchase one of these. Theyre really easy to inflate and can use water for the bottom fill. The flag is easily visible and we used a carabiner and some rope attached to the bottom and tied it off to a rock to stabilize the float. Great for setting off an area for your family or group to snorkel.

I gave my husband (and me) this dive flag for christmas since we did not have one. Its a nice compact size for the gear bag and it has an area at the bottom for water to keep it upright in the water. Havent tried it yet but it looks great.

Read the reviews from other customers and decided to try it and so how I liked it. Agreed with the others that the flag will come of if not secured properly. So what I did was to drill a small hole through the flag and pole. Took some nylon ties and secured it to the pole that way. There can be other ways to secure, just try what you think is best, but thought I got a great deal.

The float was easy to inflate (orally) and is highly visible while floating on the surface. It was also easy to tow.
The one thing that we all noticed was that it was easy to lose the flag. The pole was fairly secure in the float, but when we carried the float, several of us lost our flags (off of the pole) and had to go back and hunt for them.
Overall, it works well and I like that it collapses for storage. Just make sure you zip tie the flag to the pole before you use it.

I love this dive flag! Its just the perfect size when its not inflated, it can fit in a small pocket, which can be useful when we are travelling with scuba gear. And it does just the thing when you are diving. People can really notice the dive flag.

Diver Below Dive Ball and Flag

This product has notable pros and cons:
Pros: Cost. Can deflate it and stow away with ease. Even if boaters see the Diver Down flag and think it means theres a person from Switzerland in the water they can read the "Diver Below" label on the ball and know to keep their distance.
Cons: Low profile... less than one meter tall. Diver Down flag is not rigid so you have to jimmy-rig it yourself if you want people to see it. Does not stand upright on its own... youll need to purchase weights for the bottom pocket or stuff the pocket with rocks.
Recommendation: 1) increase the flags height by purchasing a cheap piece of dowling from a hardware store. 2) take a clothes hanger and bend it at 90 degrees, punch a few holes in the top of the flag and weave one part of the clothes hanger through the holes to make the flag rigid. Use red duct tape on the top of the flag to keep the clothes hanger from ripping the flag.
If you enjoy tinkering with stuff get this flag and itll be better than any premade buoy out there.

The Float is great. I use it for all my training dives. The Flag pole broke after 2 weekends. I removed the Flag and the Float is still going strong. Great for marking descent/ascent spot for my students.

The flags were verry easy to use there function was
wonderful. My wife and I both used the flags along with
four other divers using the same type. The only problem
I lost the flag carring the ball out of the water as did
one other. Three of us had the flags slide off, I was
paying attention to other divers and didnt notice the
flag slip off, I should have secured the flag to the post
the flag slid over.

Ths flag and float was easily packable. Water chamber large enough to allow float to stay upright without problems. Large and high enough to be seen boats in congested passes and in moderate surf. Towed easily.
Really cool swimming pool decor when not used diving.
Kids finally tore it up...but I bought two initially.
This one will be for diving only.

When diving in Wyoming not all boaters are aware that people actually scuba dive in the cold waters this makes it much easier to let them know that an activity is going on near them and it isnt just an abandoned boat in the water.
