Out of the box, 2 night dives in Roatan, Honduras. Mainly used the low light setting which was plenty of night light and gives you extended battery life. Only minor complaint is on/off/lowbeam/hi-beam switch worked hard and required two hands adjustment. I couldnt just click between the beams with one hand on the light. Ditched a 4-D cell light in favor of this one with 4 C cells and LED light. Clearly an improvement in weight, ease of handling, and underwater light. She wants to replace her old style 4 D cell primary diving light as well, and were going to order another one of these for her. Good piece of equipment !

Took it out for a try after receiving it. Worked well,light was bright,not as heavy as I expected it to be.Would have liked the switch to be a little easier to use but not a big issue. Seems to be a good product for the price.

Although expensive it is really well made and the color makes it easy to see even in poor visibility waters. Wrist strap is good size - not too big and not too small. Light has good power and it is not too heavy or bulky. Good purchase.

I am very satisfied with this light. Why did I get it? My light was an oceanic ocean pro. 25 years old, 6 volt battery, and just wore out. I was optimistic that such a compact light could deliver so many lumens, be so compact and work as described in the literature, delivered to my door in less than a week, with batteries included, free shipping.
AND IT WORKED AT A 115 FOOT depth on two boat dives on the same day........... Love it, Bill

Princeton Tec Shockwave is a bright though somewhat heavy (with 8 C cells) light that really lights up overhangs and reef walls. I would recommend it for anyone not concerned about the extra bulk and weight

Excellent strong and pure white (!) light.
The beam is broad. One could possibly call it not tightly focused. Personally, I consider it a plus for a night dive: it allows you to see more in a broader field of view rather then focus on an illuminated point in the sea of blackness.

The Princeton Tec Shockwave LED light is by far the best underwater light I have ever owned. Its penetration on a night dive is far superior to ordinary lights. A bit heavy with the 8 batteries but the hand hold is sufficient to balance the light. Great light!!!

Some divers go crazy for the most expensive products out there assuming they must be the best. This light is a rare exception that you get what you pay for. For the money, this light blows away HID and canister lights 3 to 4 times its cost. Princeton is also amazing to work with on warranty claims, had another light earlier from them that leaked, sent it in and they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked! This new 400 lumen model is outstanding for $100.

This was the 3rd. light I bought, and is The best! I could have saved a ton of money if I just went with this light. As soon as you pick it up you can tell its just the right one. The way it feels in your hand, it fits like it was made just for you. If your looking for a good light go with this one.Dont do what I did and try something else,save your money and go with the Princeton Tec and you wont be sorry.

Tested it out on a night dive last week and it worked great. It was far brighter than any other lights on the dive. LED technology is the way to go, no more worry about replacing bulbs and battery life is so much better. The light was so bright that it will wash out photos at night if pointed directly on the subject.
Hint: save and reuse the cardboard between the batteries and the bulb. It should help preserve your batteries during storage.

The Princeton Tec Shockwave LED light is a great light and a great bargain at Scuba.com. Very bright even light. Long battery life with LED technology. I have owned and given (I would give them to Scouts and leaders) a number of small backpacking lights and headlights made by Princeton Tec. Of the few that had problems, Princeton Tec replace them free of charge. Great company to deal with.

Light is super bright, nice compact, handles well underwater. Light switch design I feel not the best. If you wear gloves for cold water diving, turning light on an off takes a little effort. Even with out gloves switch could have been a better design.

great piece of dive equipment. worked very well and the battery life was much longer that non LED lights. this is not one of those large heavy lights, however it gives just as much light. i used this for the lobster opener and a few nights after that without any issues. the only ones who do not like this light are the lobsters..:) for both price and performance, i would highly recommend this light to anyone.

I picked up one of these lights as a replacement for a different brand C8 that failed. Its a very simple design, fewer places to fail than my other light. The switch is easy to use with either hand. The switch safety is large and not a problem even with gloves on. I found the light to be bright & even. Battery life seems to be good. After a few day time dives where I used it a lot to look in holes and a night dive Im still on the orginal batteries that came in the light.
Its not a canister light, but for what it is, a C8 hand held, I like it enough that I bought a 2nd one for my wife to use.

On my first night dive, I was off the coast of Bonaire. My light shown quite well compared too the rest in the group. At one point, I was seeing all the way to the floor which was a good twenty feet down.

Very nice light for night diving. The first time I took it under in the dark, I was amazed how bright the LED lights are! Mine was brighter than my buddies way too expensive canister light! Illumination was bright, wide and the beam travelled far enough to see well ahead. Great for dark nooks and crannies. One suggestion would be to definitely use with a coil lanyard. The on/off switch could be better, but no big deal. The switch lock is nice to have. Overall, for the price......HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

After returning from my first dive trip after getting my light, the light failed to work. Upon opening up the light I discovered that the small plastic extension piece that engages the little slide mechanism on the back of the assembly that houses the lens was broke off.
The slide mechanisms position detirmines the off, low, high functions.
This design arrangement appears too fragile. Plus the switch locking mechanism and the switch itself is cumbersome.

I have been diving for about a year, with 5 night dives in my log. For lights, I have been begging and borrowing my buddies lights. This one by far is the best that I have tried. Since it uses regular batteries you dont have to wait for a recharge and the three L.E.D. bulbs make it brightest light in my dive group. It is small, light and very easy turn on with gloves. Finally my dive buddies envy a piece of my equipment.

Nice compact pistol grip light that packs the same punch as the much larger lights. LED technology is the way to go. Extended battery life will quickly justify the increased cost of the light itself.

I have used this light on 5 dives so far. (Manta night dives rock!) I also bought the HID Light Cannon 100, largely seen as the best light available for under $300. This light is as bright, weighs less, doesnt need to warm up, is less delicate, a permenant bulbs, and has quadruple the battery life of the more expensive light cannon. Dont debate, i did a lot of research, the Shockwave LED is the light to buy. I might suggest buying a large pack of Ni-MH batteries online in bulk from a web dealer for the cost-savings. Excellent product: comfortable, durable, light, efficient and powerful.

I bought this light to upgrade from the original Shockwave II. Very nice improvement and the white light from the LED is great for our local, murky waters.
I took this light to 133fsw in pitch black 8 vis on a wreck and this light was real performer under the worst conditions.
Lifetime Warrantee from Princeton Tek is a real bonus as well.

the shockwave ii led is a top performer. this thing is indestructible ( i should know, ive ped it a few times and it is still going strong). for those of you who are thinking about whether or not to get an led light, stop thinking and get one. the led bulb has no filament, like a standard bulb, so they are bombproof. they also produce the same amount of light as a standard bulb, at a lower wattage. this translates to higher battery life. with an led light, how can you go wrong?

The Shockwave LED does a great job of lighting things up. The only thing I would suggest is to put some kind of attachment on the bottom of the handle to more easily put a split-ring for a retractor.
