Ill never shop for SCUBA gear anywhere Else! - In todays corporate/business world honesty and integrity are sought after. Well in SCUBA.com I have found it and I need not look any further. I know I do not have to shop around for a better price. My local dive shop here in Central FL gave me the best price I thought I would ever get, especially trying to beat their price through research on the i-net. I had completed my research and somehow stumbled across SCUBA.com web site and boy am I glad I did. They were $163.00 lower then the dive shop. Redundancy = Extra Safety - I and my dive buddy wife both have Sherwood Alum 6cf pony bottles which have become permanent parts of our dive configuration, used on every dive. After 15 years of diving and instructing all over the world, we have come to value the redundancy which a pony bottle gives. She attaches hers alongside her 80cf. I carry mine under my right arm pit on caribinners. We both hang the second stage reg around the neck with surgical tubing. We highly recommend the 6cf pony for the extra safety it brings.

Great Compass! Super easy to read! - The Aeris XR Compass Clip Mount Boot with the Sherwood SUPERTILT 2 COMPASS MODULE mounted on the XS Scuba XSCERRORY MINI RETRACTOR CLIP gave me the perfect compass set-up. My compass was out of the way clipped on my BC until I needed it, then it was in my hand and ready to use. PLUS, this set-up let me swim with my arms in a natural position — not the arm bent at right angle position necessary when using a wrist compass. I loved it, my friends loved it, and so did the SOB who stole it. Ill replace it with the same set-up, even though my Suunto D9 has a built-in electronic compass.

Sherwood Avid 2008 - Replaced an early 90s Sherwood Freedom with this one, what a difference. No more messing around with a weight belt. This is super comfortable, lots of storage space, and lots of buoyancy control both on surface and below. Dump valves are hard to find, but Im coming from a BCD that had none, so its just a matter of getting used to it. I just came back from a trip in Victoria, British Columbia, and was one of the few that was not struggling with this or that on the boat(I hate rental gear!)

oceanic sea chute power inflator - Its not like I havent known the owner of my local dive shop for 20+ years, and he knows I have sent him lots of referrals over the years. They wanted twice the price, werent sure they could get it, and couldnt commit on a turnaround time for this part. However, they sure had some nice new BCs for $300 and up.
I left him standing around with 2-3 of his helpers in an otherwise empty shop.
After finding you guys on the internet I had my trusty 10 year old BC up and running like new for $50 in a few days after consulting with the scuba.com dude. I think its a shame the Toledo, OH, locals havent figured out how to treat a customer, if I could find the part so quickly you would think they could... View Full Review

Excellent Aluminum 80s - The Sherwood Aluminum 80 scuba cylinder from scuba.com is an excellent product at an excellent price. Simply remove it from its box, screw down the Sherwood K-Valve that comes paired with it and its ready for an air fill and ready to dive. It is truly a 5 star product at a 2 star price.

Neutrally buoyant tanks - I love these tanks, no longer do you have to add three or four pounds to your weight belt in anticipation of the end of the dive. Many older divers I have talked to are set in their ways and think that this is only a gimmick to sell tanks, its not a gimmick try one for yourself, highly recommended.

So So - I purchased everything from scuba.com and this was my weakest pruchase. The fins bend too easy. In my OW class, I often found myself standing with the front of the fin bent under my foot. No one else in class has this happen with their fins. I am a fast swimmer, but can be easily out swimmed in these fins. The fins showed a lot of wear just from the pool bottom compared to others in the class. I bought these for the savings, but less than 8 weeks later, I am considering upgrading. It is hard to stomach when you are just starting out to spend more on fins, but my advise is to spend the money and get stronger fins.
