The year was 1955, just three years after Jacques Cousteau’s book, Silent World, introduced an eager public to the wonders of scuba diving. The idea of unrestricted movement underwater was as new and thrilling as space travel. Scuba diving, however, was still in its infancy, very much an extreme sport practiced by a handful of adventuring pioneers.
Sherwood had already been in business for more than 30 years, designing and manufacturing compressed gas and air management equipment for use in medical and industrial devices. By the mid-1950s Sherwood had earned a reputation for robust engineering and precise manufacturing, two qualities essential to making reliable life support equipment.
So, Sherwood was a natural choice to produce components for these early personal air regulators designed and built for use underwater. Through the 1950s and 1960s Sherwood parts went into almost every regulator on the market. Manufacturers staked their reputations – and divers staked their lives – on the dependability of Sherwood components. And, as scuba diving grew in popularity, Sherwood grew.
In 1972 Sherwood introduced the SRB-2000: the first complete regulator to be sold under its own brand name. The behind-the-scenes engineering and manufacturing powerhouse had entered the spotlight, and it never left.
Today, the Sherwood brand has expanded into a full line of dive equipment and products, each continuing the long tradition of utter simplicity and absolute reliability. Sherwood regulatorsuse innovative technologies like diver-controlled venturi devices to reduce breathing resistance, and environmentally sealed spring chambers that limit corrosion and contamination. Sherwood dive computers come with Deep Stop Reminders and even Dive Simulators that allow you to walk yourself through a dive. Sherwood aluminum tanks come in multiple sizes, from 6 cubic foot pony bottles all the way to 100 cubic foot full dive cylinders.
For 50 years now divers around the world have counted on Sherwood equipment for dependable performance in all conditions, and this trust is something we’ll keep earning, dive after dive, for the next 50 years and beyond.

|Sherwood Avid CQR3 BCD Reviews
Reviewer:Scott Michaelon6/22/2013One great upgrade...2 small steps back - i bought a sherwood avid cqr 2 in july 2009 and have used it almost exclusively since. i did replace those silly cam tank straps with "scubapro" style fully opening tank straps and jury rigged a crotch strap but thats just personal preference. it is still in great shape, but i recently lost 70 lbs and my xxxl bc no longer fits. i did not even give it a second thought when i ordered an xl avid bc with the new cqr 3 upgrade. the only really serious design problem with the cqr 2 was the difficulty in reing the weight pockets back into the bc. the cqr 3 has a redesign that puts the locking clips up front in a separate pocket where they are much easier to reattach. the new bc itself is just... |Sherwood Supertilt 2 Compass Module Reviews
Reviewer:Ron Cooleyon7/25/2007Great Compass! Super easy to read! - The Aeris XR Compass Clip Mount Boot with the Sherwood SUPERTILT 2 COMPASS MODULE mounted on the XS Scuba XSCERRORY MINI RETRACTOR CLIP gave me the perfect compass set-up. My compass was out of the way clipped on my BC until I needed it, then it was in my hand and ready to use. PLUS, this set-up let me swim with my arms in a natural position — not the arm bent at right angle position necessary when using a wrist compass. I loved it, my friends loved it, and so did the SOB who stole it. Ill replace it with the same set-up, even though my Suunto D9 has a built-in electronic compass.
|Sherwood 6 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank Reviews
Reviewer:David Guccioneon6/18/2007Redundancy = Extra Safety - I and my dive buddy wife both have Sherwood Alum 6cf pony bottles which have become permanent parts of our dive configuration, used on every dive. After 15 years of diving and instructing all over the world, we have come to value the redundancy which a pony bottle gives. She attaches hers alongside her 80cf. I carry mine under my right arm pit on caribinners. We both hang the second stage reg around the neck with surgical tubing. We highly recommend the 6cf pony for the extra safety it brings.

Reviewer:Bob Bukeron9/19/2006Nice Value Tank - Attractive tank that wont show minor scuffs and dings. No coating to flake off in boat or on other equipment. Well packaged for shipment. Inspection sticker was not accepted by local dive shop for first air fill. I am very pleased with the purchase though.
|Sherwood Wisdom 3 Air / Nitrox Integrated Computer Reviews
Reviewer:Gregory R.on3/15/2014Great dive computer - Purchased for wife. First computer but she has 50+ dives. As easy to learn as any dice computer on market. Very clear display with large readout. Clear information with messages such as STOP or SAFE for safety stop and ascension rate plus elapsed time. Quick disconnect is smooth and easy and a necessity if you dint want you computer damaged as fear get tossed around boats. Have made 13 dives with this and see no room for improvement for recreational diving. Highly recommend this or XS Scuba Datamax Pro 3.0. Cannot go wrong with either.
|Sherwood Profile Air / Nitrox Computer Reviews
Reviewer:David Cory Huggon4/7/2012great product great service - I recently purchased two of these computers for my sons who just completed their Jr. Open Water certification. Scuba.com had the best price by far, and I received them in the middle east very quickly. We just returned from a dive trip, and the computers performed well beyond my expectations. They are very straightforward, are easy to use, and the data is easily to read, and later, easy to retrieve. I myself have used a suunto for years, but it has a steep learning curve, and I have to read the manual before each use. These profiles by Sherwood have won me over. My 10 year old can slap it on his wrist, dive in the water and understand all of the data, be reminded of the importance of... View Full Review
|Sherwood Absolute Dry Snorkel Reviews
Reviewer:Renee G.on9/30/2009satisfied with product - This is my first time buying a snorkel, so I wanted to get a good one. I am satisfied with this snorkel. The only problem was that the splash guard fell off and was lost in the sea. However, once I contacted scuba.com I was told that this problem was limited to a particular batch of defective snorkels and sent me a new one immediately with no extra charges. The automatic close at the top also works really well when free diving, although sometimes a bit of water can get it, but the purge comes in really handy anyway. all in all, I am satisfied with the product for the price. I am even more satisfied with scuba.com customer service!
|Sherwood Profile Air / Nitrox Computer 3-Gauge Navcon Console Reviews
Reviewer:Don C.on7/16/2013Good Console - This console is not bulky or obtrusive. The pressure gauge is quite visible even on a night dive. I think the compass is top notch. The bezel has good size and facilitates smooth manipulation, even with gloves on (5mm). Easy to read. I have to reserve rating the computer, because this is the first one Ive owned. Besides, I used to be a dive tables guy and dive computers are new to me. I will say that that the owners manual (which is on a disk) leaves much to be desired. Quality of the print is inferior and seems to me to be written for folks who are familiar with them. Overall, I think this is a good console and would recommend it.
