| Mares Sten Mini Rigged Speargun for 2012 Reviews
Reviewer: Robert A. on 9/17/2007
Extremely pleased - i was pleasantly surprised when i recieved this speargun today. a few things for novice speargunners (like myself):
- as youve seen this gun is operated pnumatically. however this doesnt mean that you have to "pump it" like a pellet gun every shot - the chamber is internal and it works much like a pogo stick works - so you push in the spear to "charge" up the pressure and lock the spear into place. a pump is included in the event that you begin to lose pressure over time.
- assembly: the directions are vague - it is made in italy so for the english reader the instructions are not that good. however, i will try to let you know about the assembly. the first step is to assemble the... View Full Review

| Mares Nemo Wide Air / Nitrox Dive Computer Reviews
Reviewer: Donald A. Dutcher on 10/19/2008
Mares Nemo Wide - Discounted Display Model - LIKE NEW: I bought the display model which was $200 cheaper than a new one. It was in perfect shape. No scratches on the screen, the battery was 100 percent and the wrist band was uncut. MARES NEMO WIDE: The display is huge so it can display all the essential information on the screen. Everything is clearly laid out for you and easy to see from any distance or angle. The night light glows like the Timex Indiglo. DIVING WITH NEMO: I did 6 dives in Cozumel with my computer. It worked great. It clearly showed my depth and in large numbers my bottom time countdown. Audible alarms can be heard even with arms at your sides. Between dives Nemo does a desaturation countdown and it has a... View Full Review

| Mares 2mm Low Top Medium Sole Equator Dive Boots Reviews
Reviewer: Fran C. on 7/21/2008
Snorkel Booties - It was two days before our 2 week vacation to Hawaii when my package from Scuba.com arrived. I wasnt sure about these booties when they arrived because they were all about function and not much on fashion. I had already purchased another pair of booties from a local retailer before my saleman at Scuba.Com suggested I try these. When they arrived my husband (an ex Navy diver) explained how these booties were made to fit inside my fins with no bunching or rubbing around the ankle, unlike the other booties I had bought. The sole was flexible enough to allow full movement while inside the fins. Also, when I was out of my fins and just in the booties, they fit so snuggly to my feet that I... View Full Review

| Mares Avanti Quattro Dive Fins Reviews
Reviewer: doug p. on 1/5/2010
fantastic fins - For my first pair of fins, I bought the Mares Raptors. I used them for about 20 dives and never really liked them. I wondered if the issues I was having (lack of control, inability to fight currents, and feeling like I had to kick in a very specific way in order to move) could be due to the split-fin design. I did some research and found that a number of people had the same issues I did with splits. After some further research I found that, amongst paddle/blade fins, the quattros were highly regarded so I decided to purchase them. These fins are great! They are light (or at least light compared to the raptors) extremely comfortable, provide good power, look cool, have a great buckling... View Full Review

| Mares Avanti Superchannel Full Foot Dive Fins Reviews
Reviewer: Paul R. on 7/19/2008
Zippy fins! - The Mares Avanti Tre Superchannel fins were excellent! Comfortable and efficient at all kick styles. Only negative was that they were slightly large for my narrow heels. Have to wear 2mm wet socks on my 10.5 feet. Ordered the large and maybe a size smaller would be better. Should not be a problem for normal heels.

| Mares Volo Power Adjustable Strap Dive Fins Reviews
Reviewer: EDNA DECASTRO on 4/10/2009
best fins yet! - many benefits:
1.lightweight so it wont weigh down your already heavy dive bag and in airline baggage wt restritions every ounce helps
2.swim faster in the water with less effort and hence less
cramps/weakness of legs
3.if you have long strides when you swim this is the fins for you compared to split fins where you need shorter strides.(note:split fins heavier!)
only disadvantage is some older dive bags may not accomdate the width of these fins

| Mares X-Vision Mid Skirt Scuba Dive Mask Reviews
Reviewer: Cortlen Hernandez on 7/21/2010
Comfortable is not always good. - So, this mask is the first mask I have ever bought that wasnt a hand-me-down or something I didnt find at the bottom of the ocean. 2 things I am still getting used to:
first of all, the silicon skirt. Very comfy but unlike most of my friends, I dont like it. My mask seems to flood water just enough to make my dives in cold water very uncomfortable. But since I seem to be the only one with this problem and I have no other soft silicon mask to compare it to, I think its just me.
Second, if you get the mask that is not clear on all sides, you get mad tunnel vision and disorientation every now and then. Again, I think its just me and my bad viz diving but i never seemed to have... View Full Review

| Mares Stainless Steel Dive Fin Spring Straps Reviews
Reviewer: Nick L. on 10/18/2009
Better than original straps - Having used spring straps before, I tried using my "universal" straps on my Mares fins but they didnt fit so I ordered the Mares spring straps which for some reason cost almost twice as much as the univeral model despite being identical except for the shape of the mounting attachment. The cost is the only reason that I do not give these straps a five star rating. They DID fit quickly and are much easier to use than the original straps both when donning and removing my fins. I think spring straps should be offered as an option on all fins since the unused OEM straps add considerable cost to the original fin purchase.

| Mares Quattro Power Full Foot Dive Fins Reviews
Reviewer: Robert E. E. on 7/17/2009
Great fins for underwater hockey - the full-foot fin is a must for underwater hockey players and these came highly recommended. and they delivered! these are extremely comfy, snug-fitting fins (i have wide feet) with lots of stored potential energy (stiff). that is exactly what i was looking forfins built for speed. my uw hockey buddies thought they would make my legs tired in short order, but even after 1.5 hours of bottom time in a 12-foot pool playing at a fairly intense level) much more vigorously than i would if i was scuba diving) i didnt get a cramp or even feel fatigued. in fact, i felt they made me noticeably faster than i had swam previously. i suspect they would be appreciated by others who seek speed (free divers... | Mares Dragon Ergo Scuba BC with MRS Plus Weight System Reviews
Reviewer: Butch Amann on 9/20/2006
Mares Dragon BCD a winner - I recently purchased the Mares Dragon Ergo BCD with the MRS Plus weight system. I looked into several other models before making my decision. I am very happy with the vest. It fits well and is easy to put on and get off. The weight release system functions extremely well, and was easy to add or change weights even while underwater. The side pockets are easily accessible. The only problems I had were with the tank clamp, which seemed to be a little hard to get tight, and it did rub a bit in the front shoulder area. This may be in part due to the newness of the unit, and may get better as it is used more.

| Mares 2.5mm Reef Shorty Wetsuit Reviews
Reviewer: Robert DiPadova Jr on 8/8/2009
Great Suit - I purchased this suit to be used for going in the water at Marathas Vineyard. The suit was great offering the warmth and flexibility. One thing to note is the sizing. I was not sure what size to get but a quick phone call to a SCUBA instructor gave me all of the information I needed. They said that Mares sizes fall on the smaller side of their sizing chart. I fell in the middle of the L size chart. After telling him all of my size information he recommended going with the XL. This was some great advice as the XL fit like a wet suit is supposed to. If I had gone with the L it would have been way to tight. So make sure to order a size up or if you are in doubt a quick call to a SCUBA... View Full Review
