Great DSMB!

By Chris

This is a quality DSMB! When mounted, you can't even tell that it's there. It's totally out of the way, but still easily accessible. I ordered the Quick Link version, because I don't have a zipper mounts on my Stiletto, and didn't want to purchase them separately. NOTE that the Quick Link version DOES NOT come with any form of BC attachment or mounting hardware. It has grommets for attachment points, but it doesn't natively mount to a Zeagle BC with what's included. While the Zeagle ins...

Zeagle Surface Bouy

By KEVIN C.

 -  Fairfax, VA, US

Integrates well into my Ranger BCD!! Keeps it tucked and out of the way.

The Quick Deploy (QD) Deluxe Signal System is a compact way to effectively store and deploy a signal tube and a thumb reel. The system includes the signal tube, the reel with line, double ended brass snap and an E-Z mount or zipper pouch. The Quick Deploy Deluxe Signal System is completely enclosed in the pouch when not in use. To deploy, the diver grasps the deploy strap and pulls the reel and the signal tube out of the pouch. The diver inflates the signal tube with their octopus 2'nd stage by purging air out of the regulators mouthpiece into the large one-way valve on the bottom of the tube (if available) or by orally inflating with the signal tubes oral inflator valve. The diver can then drop the reel which unwinds and let the tube ascend to the surface. The diver encircles the line loosely with the thumb and fingers and ascends to the desired depth.

There are 4-models to choose from, 2-models with EZ-Mount Zip-On Pouch and 2-models with EZ-Mount Grommet Pouch, either can be purchased with a plastic of stainless-steel reel. Models with the lightweight plastic 3.25" (8.3cm) reel provide 115' (35m) of nylon line. The models with the stainless-steel 3" (7.6cm) reel provide 65' (20m) of nylon line. All QD Deluxe Signal Systems come with Zeagle's Deluxe Signal Tube. This surface signaling device offers a brightly colored highly visible profile in the water when needed. The tube measures (W x H) 7" x 60" (17.8cm x 152.4cm) and can provide Up to 22 lbs. (10 kg) of lift. The signal tube has a large duck-bill one-way valve and an over-pressure relief valve with manual dump pull cord.

Questions about this item:

Daniel T  Dimensions of reel and buoy in the pouch ?  L x W x H ...Please
Megan G  But what are the dimensions of the buoy rolled up and reel both fully packed into the grommet pouch? What are the dimensions of the pouch that attaches to the bcd?
Mario C  There are 4-models to choose from, 2-models with EZ-Mount Zip-On Pouch and 2-models with EZ-Mount Grommet Pouch, either can be purchased with a plastic of stainless-steel reel. Models with the lightweight plastic 3.25" (8.3 cm) reel provide 115' (35 meters) of nylon line. The models with the stainless-steel 3" (7.6 cm) reel provide 65' (20 meters) of nylon line. E M  Can I attach it to Zena BCD in any other way than by just hooking it to a D ring up front?
CHRISTOPHER H  Yes, you can tuck it between the jacket and the wing. You'll need the Zeagle Quick Link and Strap (https://www.leisurepro.com/p-zglql/zeagle-quick-link-with-strap) to secure it. You can also attach it to the bottom rear of the BCD with the same Quick Link.
Shopper  What is the major difference between the EZ zip on pouch and the EZ mount pouch? I am looking at the 65' ss reel. I do not have a zeagle bcd.
MICHAEL L  The EZ Zip pouch mounts to an integral zipper on some Zeagle (RangerLTD) BCD's. the other pouch has a more universal mounting with grommets which could be configured different ways
ADAM B  EZ Zip is designed to zip into Zeagle Ranger or Ranger LTD BC zipper under the wings EZ mount has Velcro or ziptie mounting options for non-Zeagle BCs
DAVID S  I purchased the easy mount pouch that simply clips to a D-ring on my scuba pro BCD. It's my understanding the zip pouch is designed to work specifically with a Zeagle and can be zipped directly to the BCD.
CHRIS G  The zip on pouch allows you to interchangeable attach and detach pouches more easily. If this is the only pouch you are getting, you probably won't need a zip mount. You still need some way to mount it to your BC. If you go with the zip on, I believe you need to purchase a zip mount adapter to attach to the BC. If you go with the non-zip EZ mount pouch, you need something like the ZGLQL SKU. I use the ZGLQL with the webbing strung under my wing around that tank band, and the locking ring attach to the top grommet on the EZ mount pouch.
Shopper  What is the total length of the entire unit. Do you have any pictures of this unit rear mounted to a ranger BC?
CHRIS G  I can't find a picture of it on a Ranger. I have it installed on a Stiletto, but the installation is basically the same for the Ranger. I'd recommend getting the Quick Link as well for a seamless installation (http://www.leisurepro.com/p-zglql/zeagle-quick-link-with-strap). Basically the strap on the Quick Link goes around your upper tank strap. The quick link then hooks around the upper grommet on the top of the signal tube sleeve. The bottom of the signal tube sleeve doesn't connect to anything, but the entire sleeve and contents is held into place between bladder and the backplate using the bladder retaining strap(s). You can barely see the sleeve at all when wearing the BC and you can't feel it. You can keep the reel inside of the sleeve to keep everything out of the way, or you can pull the reel out and clip it to an accessible portion of your BC. It's very much out of the way, but also stays put in one place, so you know where it is. There's an installation video on the Zeagle site for the Quick Link which shows how the sleeve and tube integrate to the BC (LP doesn't allow me to link the video, but just search for "Quick Link" on the Zeagle site) Hope this helps.
DBMAX, I  I bought this signal tube but decided not to use it as I don't have a Zeagle BCD. It was relatively bulky due to added zipper mount. I instead purchased a DAN signal tube which was more compact. Juan
JUSTIN D  Total length is just over 12" and fits neatly between the wing and the backplate on either side. It takes some practice in the water getting the reel and smb out without getting hung up.
BENJAMIN H  Will the E-Z Mount Zip-on Pouch fit straight to my Stiletto BCD?
SAMUEL C  To fit the pouch to your Stuletto BC you need to purchase the corresponding zipper add-on attachments from Zeagle. These zip attachments are relatively inexpensive and can be added directly to the Stiletto under the back pad. After the attachments are in place you can zip the pouch directly to the side of the BC where it will sit discretely under the side bladder clip. I have the Stiletto BC for travel and have used this system for two plus years. It is very reliable and streamlined. I highly recommend it. I often have to deploy my SMB during drift dives and this set up works very well for that. My experience level: OWSI. Number of dives: 600+.
KEVIN C  It should, assuming you have the zip mounts on either side of your BCD. I have it zipped into my Ranger BCD and it is nice to have the signal tube tucked away.
CASEY C  Yes. This is exactly what we did bought... Same BCD and same accessory, the E-Z mount zip-on pouch with the signal tube. It worked perfectly with no issues.
ADAM B  It zipped directly onto my zeagle ranger ltd BCD Should work with stiletto if it has open zippers
ROGER M  Does your Stilleto have one side of a zipper on the underside of the bladder wing? If so, it should work fine, though you may need to loosen the strap which pulls the wing forward, in order to make room underneath the wing.
CHRIS A  You'll need the Zeagle Zip Mount Adapter (8137). The setup comes with two; one for each side of the BCD and took me about 10-15 minutes to install (good install video on Zeagle's site). I use the left side for the Signal Tube, and the right for a 6 CF Zeagle Pony Bottle (750-6206). They are awesome! Keeps the signal tube and spare air tucked in very nicely, but still accessible. When not in use, you just unzip the accessories, and you don't even know that anything is left. Chris A - PADI Instructor
JUSTIN D  It should if your bc is already set up to take it. You will see a 1/2 of a zipper between your wing and back plate. If not you can purchase the ez mount kit for $20 or so and it's easy to install. You will need to remove the two tank straps and it weaves into them and fits between the wing and front strap. It works great for other accessories as well. My Ranger did not come with them so I needed to add them when I purchased this as well.
SCWATS C  No. You will have to get the zipper mounts that will be strapped to the BC with Velcro and the cam band. It requires a but of dis/reassembly but quite worth it.
BENJAMIN H  Okay, How about the standard E-Z Mount? Does that require any further parts?
