Loved my Zeagle Express

By Bill F.

 -  Montreal, QC, CA

Dove the Express Tech for 14 years and 975 dives. Added weight pockets and D rings. BC is simple, light and comfortable. No complaints at all. 2 straps on the tank was a real plus.

Great BCD

By SHERMAN R.

 -  Holly Ridge, NC, US

Only one dive so far but impressive. Easy to adjust, good streamlining in the water. Handled a steel 80 + 10lbs in a 3mm suit easily . No shifting and good buoyancy. Could use a few D rings but no complaints otherwise.

The Express Tech Deluxe Back Inflator BCD with Ripcord Weight System is an ultra-light weight, super compact traveling BC pack with features never-before-found in a rig this small. The unique back-plate is reinforced with a polymer material that gives the support needed and the flex desired for a comfortable fit. The system comes standard with a 24 lbs. (10.89 kg) lift compact bladder with elastic retractors to keep its' profile small. Two sets of center plate grommets allow for attaching twin cylinder assemblies via the bolt and nut arrangement that most tech systems use.

BCD is equipped with dual rear pull dump valves and Zeagle's Bx Power Inflator. The Bx Inflator is unique in its design. Rinsing the internal bladder completely after every day of diving is important to the life of the bladder. The Bx Inflator has a special threaded coupling that allows you to remove the power inflator mechanism and attach the inflator hose to a standard garden hose. This unique feature allows you to fully flush-out the entire bladder with clean fresh water removing salt, sand or other contaminates that can cause wear and deterioration of the inner bladder. The Bx Power Inflator comes equipped with a 3/8" threaded low pressure hose for attachment to the first stage regulator. This BC can be called the ultimate travel rig for any type of diving. Take it to the islands for lightweight reef and fun diving or explore the deep holes and ledges that require technical gear and twin cylinders.

Deluxe Harnesses BCD Version:
The Express Tec Deluxe includes all the features from the standard Express Tech plus: - The Deluxe Harness has an articulated shoulder assembly which will swivel to adjust the harness to the body's contour. The harness is equipped with Airloc buckles on the shoulder section and waist band along with a chest (sternum) strap. All the buckles allow for adjustment for a custom fit and are squeeze-style quick-release for ease of donning and doffing. Express Tec Deluxe BCD also comes equipped with a back pad and shoulder pads for added comfort at the back and shoulders. BCD includes the Ripcord Weight System that has 30 lbs. (13.6 kg) of weight capacity. Bladder is constructed from durable 1,000-Denier nylon fabric with an internal urethane laminate and all seams are radio frequency (RF) welded for long life. BCD weighs 6.5 lbs. (2.95 kg) dry and comes with a comprehensive owner's manual.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Andrew D  Does this have the shoulder pad and lumbar pad included?
STEPHEN W  It comes with shoulder pads but not with a lumbar pad. I bought this for my wife and she loves it. I have been diving for 13 years (mostly tech in cold water) and use a Halycon back plate and harnes. If I need a new one, I will buy one of these for my self, I really like it. It is light weight and perfect for travel. I suggest you buy a croch strap.
KETIL D  If you buy the basic model it does not have the pads, but the Deluxe with ripcord have the pads and lumbar support included. I have used mine with a 3 mm and a 2.5 mm wetsuit, and it works like a dream. It does miss D-rings, so I have added 3 D-rings for camera, light and SMB. Ketil
KETIL D  Yes it does. Ketil
RAYMOND H  Mine came with just the basic straps. It was okay in a wet suite, but not good with just a rash shirt. They rub kind of harshly. After trying to use it the first time, I ended up going to a dive shop to purchase aditional d-rings to attach to the straps. There was basically no place to attach my octo, gauges, camera, etc. Then it was a matter trial & error to get it set-up the way I wanted it. It's a good BCD. Also, when you're floating on the top of the water (waiting to be picked up, or just swimming) the BCD tends to tip you face forward into the water. You can counter that by not putting too much air in it, but again, it's something you have to learn by doing. Good luck.
Simon I  Does the ripcord system that comes with this BCD have Dual pockets on each side like the ripcord systems featured on other Zeagle BCDS, or is the weight system single pocket only?
KETIL D  Hi I got several of the Express Tech Deluxe BCD with Ripcord Weight system. The pockets on this BCD is a single pocket just for the weights. It's not like the pockets on my Ranger. If you need space to store something, you need to add a pocket. I bought the Zena pocket, and it will fit on the BCD, but I took it off after two dives. The beauty of this BCD is it's simplicity. I ended up adding a couple of extra D-rings, and have my spare light and SMB hanging from them. Regards Ketil
RAYMOND H  It has a single pocket on each side. I'm not familiar with he other models. Pull the rip-cord, and it drops both pockets. I've never tried it, and I hope it actually works.
Shopper  I own zeagle express with 24# lift bladder. What is my options to increase lift?
MICHAEL C  This bcd can be used with most of Zeagles optional bladders. we currently have 4 available. http://www.leisurepro.com/Catalog.aspx?op=gcsSearch&Term=zeagle%20bladder#!1
Shopper  Hi, How much does the Deluxe setup weigh?
ROBERT G  According to my scale 2.6 kg
RAYMOND H  It's under 5-pounds without the rip cord, and about 5.5 with the rip-cord installed. That is the dry weight. I read where some people carry it in their carry-on bag. I didn't. I just put it in the bottom of my check bag. I carry-on my Regs., and my camera. I took mine to the tropics, and used it hard for three (3) weeks. It dried out pretty fast. It had a little left over water in the air blatter, and it took a little effort to get it out. Not bad. I added a couple of stainless rings to mine, because there's no other way to attach your Octo or spg. The rings are about $2.00 on line, or $10.00 in the tourist dive shops. I should have bought them before I went on vacation. So, the d-rings add a litle weight, but not much. I'm always concerned about check-bag weight, so I try to make sure my gear is dry before I fly. It's pretty compact, and lite. It still looks new after 30 dives, and I'm happy I bought it. It took 3 or 4 dives before I fine tuned the amount of weight I needed, and I became comfortable with gearing up with this BCD. If something ever happens to this one, I would buy the exact same one again. HOWEVER, it was very rough on my wet suite. Just rubbed it harshly, and now my weit suite has serious wear. But still a cool BCD. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
SETH M  Looking for a more packable bc for travel. This will be great and a ‘one-size fits all’ format will allow me to share with friends that don’t yet own their own gear.
