Hollis Gear's SMS100 Side Mount System was designed not just with the side-mount cave divers in mind, but any diver. Whether you are a beginner, advanced or technical diver, this kit was designed for you. The SMS 100 is suitable for side-mounting twin or single cylinders, but also for use with re-breathers or rear mounted singles. This system can be used in any environment from open water to the overhead environment.

The system is ready-to-dive out-of-the-box.

This bulletproof constructed system allows full visibility over your gear, diver can perform gas checks/management, configure and monitor all gauges, valves and hoses without assistance. The system reduces additional gear: doubles bands / hardware / manifold - benefit when traveling, aids in transporting gear to and from the beach or boat - one tank at a time. This includes exiting the water on a boat dive. The system streamlines profile which in turn reduces drag increasing your bottom time.

The SMS100 Side-Mount System Harness comes equipped with 6-stainless-steel D-rings on the padded shoulder straps with 4-pre-bent for accessory attachment. The harness has adjustable shoulder and sternum straps equipped with squeeze-style side-release buckles for easy donning and doffing. The Hollis SMS100 Harness has a stainless-steel latch-style waist buckle with adjustable crotch strap. The crotch strap is equipped with an additional stainless-steel D-rings for attachment of accessory or scooter. All hardware is manufactured from 316- marine-grade stainless-steel.

The Hollis SMS100 Side-Mount System, bladder with inflator mechanism and overpressure relief/dump valve, is a 360° elastic bungee system (removable) wing that provides 52 lbs. (23.6 kg) of lift capacity. Bladder has a centrally located inflator mechanism elbow to avoid tank valve/regulator interference, lower left pull dump/overpressure relief valve (on single wing) and lower left and right (dual wing) and the inflator system is made from durable impact resistant plastic with a corrugated rubber hose. The internal components and inlet quick-disconnect nipple are made from chrome plated brass. The SMS 100 Wing is equipped with upper and lower cam band slots for single cylinder mounting.

This bulletproof constructed wing is manufactured using 1000-denier Cordura nylon with a polyurethane lamination outer shell & 15mm urethane internal bladder(s). The SMS 100 bladder is streamlined designed for reduced drag and passing through confined spaces. Included with the wing is a 3/8" threaded low-pressure quick-disconnect hose (or 2 with redundant dual wing) and an owner's manual.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Marcin C  Is it possible to mount only one cylinder at the rear?
JOE S  Yes the SMS75 can be used with a single back mounted tank, back plate/harness/double tanks and sidemount.
Keith H  Yes. The included tank straps can be threaded through 2 slots on the back to convert to a standard BCD.
Micah B  Yes. You may mount a cylinder on the back. You will need to get a cam band and feed it through the back slots.
Daddy E  I want to ask about the size.my waist line is 26 inches I'm wondering if the small-medium will fit on me?
donald s  Yes you need the small/medium.
Jonathan L  Is it the full black vest or is it red and black like in the picture?
Charles W  All black with a bit of red piping/ trim
J J  The full black
RYAN O  It's completely black with red writing.
SAFETY S  Mine came in red on the bladder and red writing on the back pad, everything else is black.
Customized T  I would like to ask how stable is the single tank mount on this bcd compared to the hollis hd200? Im an instructor that works mostly recreational but interested in the sidemount diving. What would be your recomendation, to just use the hollis sms 100 or take the hd200 for daily work and buy another sidemount rig for the sidemount? Thank you
JASON B  No stable at all... I even tried it with multiple stays and it still flipped side to side.
Customized T  What would you recommend for an all around BCD?
JASON B  This is a nice SM kit, just not that great for BM IMO. I dive the Dive Rite Transplate with Travel Wing for Single BM, then switch the wing to my Tec wing for Doubles BM. Then I have an XDeep for SM. I have yet to find a good kit that does SM and BM. This kit is bulky and IMO wouldn't be good for travel. There's lots of good BCs out there, it all depends on the person and what they are doing with it. The HD200 is a good solid rec BC. I love Hollis stuff....a lot of gear is Hollis, I'm must not a fan of them taking a BM config and adapting it to SM. It works, but you really don't get the true essence of SM that way. again..these are JUST MY OPINIONS.
Customized T  Thanks alot for your detailed answer 👌
MARK C  I prefer (and suggest) to attach a Stainless Steel single tank adapter screwed in the soft back for more stability.
CHRIS B  I'm not sure. I've used it with back mount doubles before but never just a single. I'd think it would be fine. Good setup. It's a little big for just standard sidemount if your not carrying any extra stages. Id get a recreational basic bcd and buy a Hollis katana for sidemount. Just my 02.
Charles W  I bought the SMS to do side mount for wreck etc but use it mainly as a single tank mount (Faber steel tank) and it works great. Given the wing it is very stable when diving prostrate. Is a little less convenient on the surface as it tends to tip you forward a bit but no big deal.
Rodrigo S  What would be the recommended length for the inflator hose when using a single back-mounted tank with the SMS 100?
TOM H  I use the Hollis longer corrugated19 inch inflater hose with a 27 inch lp hose
JOE S  If it's mounted on your back, then the regular PI hose on your existing regulators will be fine. Probably something like 26 or 28". If you are side mounting it, then a 15" hose will be good. It should have come with the BC.
