Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Frederico O  What's the thread of the ELF Lionfish Spear Tip?
DANIE T  6 mm. Metric
DAVID C  6 mm
KEVIN B  Standard 6mm
BRAD B  Google 6 tip steel lionfish spear
BRAD B  It fits a lot of shafts. I missed a lot with this tip and went to a 6 tip spear good for big and small lionfish
CHALES B  Sorry, I don't know the thread count...
Shopper  I lost the rubber cap to my ELF spear tip. Can I purchase a new one?
DANIE T  Any large hardware store has a large variety of chair tips, the plastic caps you put on the legs of chairs to prevent scratching the floor. Good hunting !
DAVID C  use three wine corks for free
CHALES B  I use the corks from wine bottles, works fine. Keeps the tips clean and dry.
WESLEY C  These are just tank caps. They can be purchased at any dive shop.
BRAD B  I'm not sure I use a cork
JAMES R  The cap is the same as those used to cover the top of a standard scuba tank to protect the O-Ring. Look for one at your local dive shop.
SUSAN M  I like to use an empty aspirin bottle, some thing with a smaller opening just enough to get the barbs in, maybe even squeze the tips together to get them in the opening and they will hold the bottle in place when opened. I have also seen people make one with duct tape.
Shopper  How far apart are the tips? I have paralizer tipped pole spear and small lions simply end up between the tips!
Steve S  The tips are about 1.5 inches apart from each other.
DANIE T  Shopper: tips are 1 1/2" apart. Try putting a tank O-ring over the tip or try shooting them in Cuba where they grow to softball size.
KEVIN B  spines are 1.5 inches apart. The Trident Delta 3-Prong Barbed Stainless Steel 6mm Spear Tip can be mounted to this spear for smaller lionfish. Trident also makes a 5 prong version
JILL R  The tips are 1.5 inches apart, but they are bendable. You can squeeze them closer together or spread them further apart.
DEE B  3/4" apart
YURI Z  It is about an inch, usually I have used O ring on it So for a small ones just slide O ring forward... Work awry time!
MICHAEL M  They are close together. I dont know exact distance but this works well for smaller/medium lionfish. TIP: I put an 2 o-rings on end of spear so that I can adjust the distance of the tines/tips by moving the o-rings down the tip of the spear.
JIM E  The tips are about an inch apart but you can make them closer by sliding an o-ring over the tips to make them closer together.
MICHAEL K  1.5cm
BRAD B  Lionfish Mini Spear with Tip You will not miss one with this spear. Its what all the lion sish hunters in cozumel use.
LAWRENCE D  You may bend the spear tips as close or as far apart as you like.
BRAD B  You are correct they are way to far apart. I went with another on tip.
Jennifer W  how wide is the fitting? i need a 5mm female fitting. is this one like that?
SUSAN M  It is a 6mm fitting
WILLIAM X F  I believe the tip is a 6mm female fitting. This fits on most standard spears, I separately purchased a 20 something inch pole spear specifically for lionfish and the tip fits and works great!
CHARLES J  This tip has a 6mm fitting. It fit the JBL pole spear perfectly. Both items were bought from leisure pro.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
WILLIAM G  I bought an elf and it did not have a tip
Stan S  No barbs
MARK H  They keep the fish on the tips better than a completely smooth tip.
Kody B  Perfect size for travel!
