About Dive Alert Surface Marker Buoy, Orange

The Dive Alert SMB (surface marker buoy) features Closed-Circuit (one-way valve) construction, which prevents air spill at surface. Inflate on the surface to attract visual attention or redundant flotation. Inflate at depth to send up as a surface marker. SOLAS reflective tape (Coast Guard approved) across top of SMB creates better visibility day and night.

Over-Pressure Valve (OPV) prevents bursting and easy air dumping. Deluxe SMB is (L x W) 65" x 8" (165cm x 20cm) which provides approximately 40 lbs. (18.1 kg) of lift. Nylon strap handle on top allows for easy attachment of light or slate.400 denier poly-urethane coated nylon material, this SMB will last dive after dive without issue.

Questions about this item:

S EDWARD R  Is this inflatable using the regulator?
PATRICK P  Yes. you can inflate it by holding it over your regulator and using the purge or just exhaling. very easy especially with your second regulator. You will want a reel attached to it. I also bought a 16INCH nylon diver flag and sewed it to the top of the sausage so I now have a diver flag on the top of the safety Marker
EMILY D  Yes, it's inflatable by a reg. The only drawback is that it rolls up to be a bit bulky. But it still fits in my pocket and when you need to use it, bulky means it's a bigger marker!
CARL M  The regulator is what is used to inflate the SMB The SMB does not have a oral infla ter.
S EDWARD R  Thanks
ROBERT K  Call the Leisurepro toll free number and ask, hopefully they will tell you oral inflator only so easy cleaning after a dive. Air does not escape unless. It's over inflated or you deflate it.
JUSTIN F  Can you orally inflate this product?
Brett H  This one does not have an oral inflate tee, only purge to inflate, their deluxe version here does have an oral inflate: http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/AQUDADSMB.html .
JUSTIN F  I was wondering the dimentions of this product when it is all wrapped up and I also am wondering what the circumference is when it is fully inflated?
JOVAN S  3"x8" when it's rolled up, and when filled it is between 4-5.5" depending on how you are facing it.
EDWARD B  Justin, Going off memory the SMB's dimensions when rolled up are around +3" in diameter and 8" long. It is pretty big when blown up (maybe as beig as 6" diameter). This is not the regular size recreational safety sausage.
ROBERT K  It is about 3" dia when rolled up tightly and about 7" long when rolled up. It fits nicely in a BC pocket as it can be collapsed/flattened or can be clipped to the outside of a BC. Fully inflated I seem to remember it is about 6 feet long. We are very satisfied with it.
CHRISTOPHER S  I'm not sure of the exact dimensions while wrapped up but it is pretty big. It does not fit in the pocket of my Zeagle Stilleto BC. A good solution though is to have the SMB and a reel attached to the back/bottom of the BC just above your butt. This allows it to be out of the way and doesn't drag on the bottom, is more streamlined becuase the SMB is in the cylinders draft and since it is on your backside, you are able to access it with either hand in the event one hand is incapacitated. One thing I do not like about the SMB that I got was that it does not offer an oral inflate. This is helpfull for when you get to the surface. The SMB deploys perfect while at depth but when you get to the surface it kind of goes limp. DAN does have a new SMB that is just like this one but it does offer an oral inflate while at the surface. With either SMB you get from DAN, a charter boat will have no problem spotting you. I used it two weeks ago in Jupiter, Fl and the waves were about 4-5ft which would have swallowed up a normal size SMB but the charter captain had no problem locating me and my dive buddy with this SMB. Good luck.
