Good Product

By Mark

I bought this reel exclusivly to deploy a safety sausage. It's great for this use as it is compact and fits in a bc pocket so it will be there when you need it

Basic and it works

By WESLEY J.

Basic and no thrills finger wheel. I got this finger reel for travel. Other reviewers indicated the Orange color came off the line and made me second guess myself but went with the Orange anyways. I've not had a problem at all with the color coming off and or staining any other gear.

In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didn't empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The Finger Spool is most often used as a gap reel or for short distance exploration. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped-off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in a double-ended snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use.

Blue Reef's Finger Spools come equipped with a durable corrosion resistant brass double-ender bolt snap. The Spool is durable material for strength, corrosion resistance and long life. The Line is international orange or white nylon. The Line comes in lengths of 80' (15.2m), 100' (30.5m) and 167' (50.9m), to serve your needs and is approved for up to a maximum of 176 lbs (80kg) of dry weight.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Angel A  What is the width on the 100 ft Spool?
Mario C  Thank you for your question. The width is 1 1/2"
Michele R  what is the diameter of the reel?
CHRISTOPHER C D  Outside diameter 3.25 inches.
GREGORY P  Its about 4" in diameter. Prefect little finger spool. Prefect for deploying a safety sausage or a light flag line. Doesn't get more basic or reliable. I've had mine about 5 years and have about 100 dives on it. Still in good shape.
MARK R  Is there any notch, or other way to lock the line into the spool (like a spool of sewing thread has), so it doesn't unwind in your pocket?
STEPHEN B  No. I lock it by the clasp I added to the end.
LESTER P  No there is not a notch, but I made one on my spool, it serves two purposes. A place to lock the line in and also I can identify my spool in dark caverns. This is very helpful in the caverns where there is a lot of training going on and there are several Primary or secondary lines run.
PHILLIP G  No, but you can hook the double end bolt snap through one of the holes.
JIM A  hello Marcos. there is no notch, but it's easy to lock- just run the same side of the clip attached to the reel through 1 of the holes in the side of the reel. No way it can come undone. and you can use the other end of the clip for a D-ring if you prefer. i use the reel for a safety sausage. i ran out ~20' of line and knotted it to the reel such that no more that that 20' can come off the reel. then it's easy to use with the sausage- use the clip to attach to the sausage, inflate it, and just drop the reel. sausage goes up, reel drops 20', and if you're at a 15' stop it's perfect.
DENNIS J  No notch, Normally you make a loop on the line pass it through one of the plastic holes on the real then place your clip through the small loop holding the string in place.
JUSTIN L  There is no notch but there are holes around the perimeter. You use the double ended snap clipped to a hole to keep it from unwinding.
GREGORY M  I have read reviews recommending the orange line as shown in some photos of this sale item. However when you select the blue reef finger spool it states that it only comes in B&W, why?
KEVIN F  There are two drop-down menus for this product. On one you select the length of line, on the second you select the line color. Both White and Orange line are currently in stock in all length choices. If you have any further questions or difficulties, please contact us at info@Leisurepro.com.
Shopper  What is the center hole's diameter?
PETER R  Not big enough for a GLOVE finger, but should be good for a NON-GLOVE finger. Yep, small for most men to fit their thumbs in. From my experience on ALL finger spools, this design should have an extra large center hole. Area of frustration.
YAN G  One Inch.
