Keep ahead of reg problems

By Capt S.

To me this is like checking the oil in your car -- and just as easy. By monitoring your IP frequently you stay ahead of potential problems BEFORE you find yourself on a dive trip with a bad 1st stage. I actually gauge my service intervals for my regs based on this.

Check your Rig!

By divereric

Always know that your rig is working before you get on the water.

Knowing the difference between a simple second stage leak and a malfunctioning first stage regulator intermediate pressure (IP) can make the difference between annoying leaks verses a major problem. This compact, ultra-lightweight, Aqua Intermediate Pressure Gauge is ready to go with you anywhere. It's perfect to help diagnose regulator problems when you're away from the shop gauge and is designed to simply plug into any standard BCD low-pressure inflator hose quick-disconnect (QD) coupling and can give you instant diagnostic information of any IP problems. Gauge has an impact resistant rubber boot, reads up to 300 psi (20 bars) and has a chrome plated marine grade brass QD fitting.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Can it screwed into LP port directly?
Daniel M  Yes. Although you'll need to find an alternative way to purge the regulator.
WILLIAM K  Plugs into a low Pressure BCD inflater Hose, to test the hose pressure and check for leaks. Fits my Sherwood and oceanic BCDs. As far as removing the quick connect and screwing it something else, I just don't know.
JYE C  No, it cannot. It connects to the LP hose that connect to BC inflator
WAYNE M  No, You can't.
NICOLE C  No, uses quick disconnect via a BC hose as mentioned in title. This is meant for a quick IP check for troubleshooting regulator issues
DAVID G  No. As shipped, it is setup to be attached to a Low Pressure Hose Quick Disconnect fitting....most commonly found on a BC/Wing inflator hose
PAUL D  No. Looking at the thread, it appears to be a 1/8" npt which is a tapered profile unlike the thread used on a LP 1st stage port. As described, it works satisfactory when coupled to a standard BC supply hose. I couple the gauge to an old BC hose to tie into the LP port.
JOE S  This gauge is designed to check LP output pressure using the BC inflation hose. It is not designed to be mounted permanently to the 1st stage . so no, it will not screw into the LP port directly
David D  No, it cannot. The adaptor is specifically meant for a LP inflater hose; though a reliable IP reading can be had that way . . .
LOUISE M  No, this product is designed to attach to a LP hose with a quick disconnect I.E dry suit hose or BC inflator hose. The gage itseflf has NPT treads and is not compatible with the regulator ports
Shopper  Does this have an over-pressure relief valve?
L R  NO
CD C  No. It is a straight pressure gauge.
SCUBA O  I don't think so.. It's just a gauge with a male lp inflator connector.
JOHN M  no, It does not, When you check the IP. keep your hand on the tank shut off valve and open it up very slow, if the pressure starts to go above 160, shut the tank off, you know you have a problem.......Jack Murphy Florida Keys..
Shopper  Is there an adaptor for this guage to use with Oceanic XS2?
HANS G  This gauge is simply to be connected to a low pressure connection hose and is designed to help measure the low pressure (second stage). Any regulator connected to the second stage can be tested, as long as you have two low pressure hoses connected to the first stage. One hose for the gauge and one for the second stage regulator. Hope this makes sense.
GARY H  I know of no such adapter.
GARY C  The gauge plugs into the low-pressure hose. I suppose if the BCD had a non-standard connector, that particular LP hose would have to match the non-standard connector.
CHARLES S  If you have an Air2 style hose attached to your regulator (larger opening), it is just as cheap to buy a standard LP inflator hose and attached it to the regulator first stage when you are testing the regulator while servicing it.
TUNGAN H  I'm not sure. Typically, the quick release air connections are a large and small size. This is the small size. You can probably make it work if you change the hose rather than getting an adapter. This may be a cheaper option to trying to find an adapter. You may be able to find the large fitting at a hardware store. Take your XS2 hose to the hardware store and see if it fits the pneumatic tools. If it does, see if you can twist off the gage fitting and substitute the tool fitting. If not, just buy a hose from your local dive shop and save trouble. Good luck. T
PAUL O  Sorry - no idea
Shopper  Does this include a hose?
LeisurePro S  Sorry, no. Check out XS Scuba's pressure gauge.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ROGER P  need it to properly set a regulator
PAMELA K  Begininng to rebuild my regs, this will let me know if an adjustment is necessary.
PAUL T  Check equipment
JAY Y  To check/adjust proper operating pressure of the 1st stage regulator time to time.
sebastian m  it is what it is. thats why it works.
STEVEN R  To check 1st stage IP periodically. Easier than hooking up an inline orifice adjuster with IP gauge. Just plug it into the inflator hose.
ROGER B  might help diagnose prob, but it may not fit ScubaPro AirII - it was deeeeply discounted
MARTIN P  check regulator
PAUL O  Inexpensive intermediate pressure gauge - had some regulator problems on a trip and this led me to take a little defensive action for future trips.
Heidi C  Excelent for a double check and also for Nitrox Check.
GINNIFER L  For my safety :)
GARY H  Inexpensive and a good way to watch IP creep, a sign that a regulator needs service.
