Wetsuit

This is the 2nd wetsuit that I purchased. Good product

Akona understands the importance of reducing dependence on oil-derived chemicals. Akona's earth-friendly neoprene uses limestone that is over 99.7% calcium and does not rely on oil as extensively as petroleum-based neoprene. Akona wetsuits features a full length molded Delrin zipper and a #10 YKK marine-grade brass slider. This superior combination of zipper and slider is the ultimate in corrosion resistance and strength.

The glued-and-stitched zipper dam is "skin-out" for added seal and reduced water flushing. The closely guarded, unique lamination process of bonding the nylon to the rubber and Akona's new, strategically designed pattern matched with lightweight, limestone-based neoprene is the science behind Akona wetsuits. All seams are flat-lock sewn for strength and durability. Suit has reinforced, laminated knee pads.Glide-skin neck minimizes water entry and flushing of the suit. The neck, wrists and ankles of this wetsuit are finished with elastic binding for comfort.Akona's wetsuits are the most comfortable and best fitting wet suits in their class. Akona's 1 mm Jumpsuit is available in multiple sizes and is black in color.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Paola N  Hello, I'm 5'1 and weight 127. What size would I be? Thank you!
Lexi B  Yes I am 5’2”, 125 lbs. and got the 7/8 and it was a good fit.
NANCY M  The 9/10 Akona 1 mm worked well for me on a 10-day snorkeling trip. I am 5-5 and 130#.
Christopher D  For the Akona suit I would recommend the 7/8 The Pinnacle suits run rather small in comparison so I would recommend the Small Aqua Lung tends to fall in between and I would recommend a 6
Karen N  RE: Akona 1 mm Women's Wet suit:  I am going to the Caribbean this May, where the water temp is ~80-ish.  I know that when I've snorkelled off Maui (water temp ~78), I would get chilled after about 20 mins in the water -- so I rented a shorter wetsuit so I could stay in for several hours.  I'm thinking I now want to buy a light wetsuit or dive skin instead of renting. I like the full suits for protection against abrasions & jellyfish stings.  I hope only to snorkel/maybe scuba in warm to balmy waters!  BTW, I have an hour-glass figure -- so a boy-cut suit isn't so great.  I'm 40-32-41 @ 5’4”. Do you think this would serve me the best? If not, what do you recommend? Thanks!
HEARHER H  I would get this wet suit and a vest.
BARBARA M  I think this would work well and because it's 1mm, it is lighter to pack & dries more quickly
ANN M  I love the Akona fit for me (125 lbs, 5.5 ft) ... but I am not certain that 1mm will be warm enough. Like you, I get cold after 20 minutes. I just went snorkeling with whales in DR with a 3mm ... 4 hours in and out of water. I tried to wear the 1mm and a dive skin one day and was quite cold. Suggest you go thicker. You can always take a scissors and cut off the legs to make a long-sleeve shortie. That works for me.
GERALD H  My wife wears this wetsuit diving in the FL Keys every summer where the temps average the low to mid-80s. it's perfect in her opinion. It conforms to your figure regardless of shape. She likes the akona 1mil so much I bought her two of them.
MARY H  I was in the Southern Caribbean in late Jan. and early Feb. The water temperature was about 76 at the time. I found that the 1mm Akona was not warm enough for me so went with a Body Glove Womens Pro 3 - 3.2MM and was quite comfortable during all the snorkeling excursions. They both are cut for women and fit nicely. I am one of those people who is always cold, so I would suggest that you go with the thickness of the wetsuit that you rented since it kept you warm enough. I did not find that the full wetsuits hindered my swimming in any way and they provided the protection desired from abrasions and stings. I would suggest that you consider getting some socks, as it makes getting in and out of the full suits much easier and provide some protection from fins rubbing.
ROSA S  Hi, I live in the Caribbean and I think that this suit suits perfectly for the weather and for recreational diving in warm waters. I have an hourglass figure as well and it fits me beautifully. I recommend it for what you want.
