Heavy duty goodness

By John C.

 -  Chicago, IL, US

Was bigger than I expected, but I can't think of a piece of equipment I wouldn't trust it with. Bonus points for the brass quick release (no suicide clip here). It's a bit long even before you unclip it, but allows for great flexibility for flashlights and cameras while never having to detach. I use cross sections of bicycle inner tubes to keep my light stowed nice and tight on my shoulder strap until needed, then it's just a pull away.

Great lanyard

By John D.

These lanyards are great for attaching lights, cameras, etc. to your BCD.

We always need to attach more stuff to our equipment to free up our hands when we need them. Lanyards for lights, cameras, gauges, game bags, or maybe even a fish stringer when spear fishing. Having a few spare clips in your gear bag is a must for the serious diver. It's a snap! This coiled lanyard expands to 36". (91.4cm) Simply unhook the quick-release latch with a squeeze of the fingers and the coil is released, offering up to 36" (91.4cm) of extension during use.

Lanyard has corrosion resistant marine grade brass spring loaded gate 360-degree swivel clip attachment on one end and fastens to a secure position in seconds with lanyard or stainless-steel split ring on the other end. Coil lanyard is ideal for use with gauges & underwater photographic equipment. This coiled lanyard makes a great save-a-dive-kit item.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

LINDA D  I would like to use this to secure the Lefeet S1 Pro scooter to my BC.  Would the coil help prevent the line from getting caught in  the propeller?
darrick c  Hello Linda, the blades have a protective shroud around it so this should not get caught in the propeller.
Shopper  what is the coil make of?
Steve S  The coil is plastic.
DOUGLAS R  WELL, i am not sure what it is made of, but it works great !!!
NIGEL L  The coil is made from plastic- there is no metal or fabric in the coil proper. It does not kink, returns to its original shape after being extended, and seems very durable. I have several of these, and they are now 5 years old, and still performing properly.
ROLLAND F  Not really sure it seems to be a tpe of plastic coated cable. In any case I've had mine for about 5 years and it looks as good as the day I bought it. I do rinse religiously after every dive.
JOHN M  the coil is a heavy duty coil that has a brass hook , a heavy duty plastic clip, and a rubber expandable coil. this is top quality and very well made that you can put almost and item on this coil and know it will hold.
Shopper  What is the strength of the coil? How much weight before it breaks, 5lbs, 20lbs, 50lbs?
JAMES L  I know it will support 30 pounds of camera/strobes/arms...
MYLES M  Have not broken mine, but under water it could probably support 50 lbs, the coil lanyard is perfect for larger lights
ROBERT U  I've used this for lights, SPG and generally light equipment. I have used it to tether a scooter but under water its only slightly negative so not much weight was ever attached. Doubt it could hold 50lbs (e.g., full 120cf steel tank). I'd keep lighter equipment (less than 10lbs) for tethering, not carrying. It seems to be made well and i just started using it again (no more scooter) for SPG.
CHUCK B  Mine has never broken so I don't know.
Matthew F  I think the specs that came with it said it would support 6 lbs. I use it for my camera (Ikelite with wide angle attachment + strobe) but I've never just it dangle by the coil so I don't know how strong that part is. I will let the system dangle if the clips are connected and that part is strong/secure.
MANFRED J  how long is this item from the brass clip to the silver ring when it is not disconnected? Thanks for the help!
BLAKE B  10 inches; workis great with the big pelican light.
CHRISTOPHER P  About 10 inches.
STEVE W  It will stretch out to about 3 feet. It works great every time!
MANFRED J  thank you, I meant though when it is connected to the quick release?
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
RICHARD P  For use with my Micro 3 camera when diving
RAMON N  When shore diving lake Michigan in drysuit. If there are waves I need to clip camera while putting on and taking off fins.
Leonard B  Brass clip
RICK C  It looks light and easy to use.
DULCIE L  Needed something to attach my camera to BCD.
SCOTT C  for camera
JENNA A  Exactly what I'm looking for and it's multipurpose! I'm going to use it for snow gear and scuba gear! Thanks
KATHLEEN M  My brother has one and recommended it to attach camera to BCD
KIRKSAK P  Wanted a strong secure clip to attach camera to BCD. Have one now that has a plastic clip, want to replace with this sturdy brass one.
JACOB H  It will do the job and it was on sale
PETER M  Great attachment point for a small UW Camera. Hands Free until you need it.
LAUREN C  Used similar in the past
KRISTOPHER H  this is for my SPG.
PHILIP O  value
Peter C  My dive torch has a simple coil spring but it just dangles while swimming so this is to make it more streamline and accessible on my BC
NICK B  Great for attaching my light to my bcd
HAROLD J  To hang my UW camera housing on it. If I want to be hands free.
MAX K  My intent is to attach a metal end to this and use it as a tank banger to get fellow divers' attention.
LAWRENCE D E  To hang gear on my BCD
DONALD B  Was introduced to this product by another diver and liked the product.
DENNIS D  Needed something to secure camera. Looks like good quality, good price.
MARILYN H  This item was on Black Friday sale
JOHN B  I've a big dive light and chose this due to price and reviews of divers using this to tether their cameras to themselves.
BILL T  need cord for my light. I have a similar on for my camera.
Steven S  Great way to carry a camera
SALVADOR Q  practical
RICHARD K  brass clip
Janet B  Using to keep from losing camera when diving
EDAN K  I use these extender for securing my underwater camera
Michael L  It fits my needs perfectly. I wanted a secure lanyard to hold onto my Gopro.
CHRISTINE W  Handy piece of equipment to secure camera when not using.
ROBERT R  Price and availability.
Steven O  I bought this based on someone's review on Scuba Board. I have some 'standard' retractors and they work great for items you use for a brief time, for example a compass. However, if you are planning to hold something out extended for a good while, it gets tiring. This being a lanyard, works differently. When you unclip it you can use your flashlight or camera for as long as you like without having it pull back against your arm.
WALTER B  Need for instructor training.
ERIC J  THESE WORK GREAT WITH UK FLASHLIGHTS. CAN USE STRICTLY BY FEEL. VERY USER FRIENDLY UNDERWATER, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.
DAVID B  The reviews were very good and I want to make sure I have the right accessories to keep my purchases safe and secure on my dives.
Antonio A  It is nice to have every thing in place and handy.
MARCIE G  I needed something to hold my abalone gauge and blade to keep my hand free when I was diving in Sonoma in August. This lanyard should work great with clipping my fins to my weight belt or my BCD when I struggle out of the surf on the Sonoma, Mendocino coast.
KATIE S  I actually returned this - it's massive. HUGE!!!
ROBERT K  To keept the camera attached to me
CHUCK C  Use with underwater lights.
SAL D  Great lanyards, have them on all of our camera housings for past three years over 350 dives with no failures or issues.
JON B  hang camera on bc
ROBERT L  Sounded good. It wasnt. Far too long when coupled.
MICHELLE I  Needed a secure way to keep my camera attached to me underwater and I didnlt have time to make my own rope laynard.
BLAKE B  too hook my dive lite up. and sometimes to hook on to a bad dive buddy that always gets lost.
SHAWN L  camera security underwater and during entry and exit from the water.
JONATHAN R  I use this for my underwater camera and it works great.
KEN B  I love these things... I buy them all the time andf use them in my business
RON B  This is my second clip. It does a good job but the clip breaks over time. They last around 5 years. Maybe I could replace the clip but for $12 not a big deal.
EILEEN J  Use it for my console. The coil is nice because even uncliped it doesn't let the console totally drag behind.
TOM B  great price and use to connect computer to BCD.
CHRIS L  Great spring clip with brass ring so highly corrosion resistant. Good stuff for hanging lights, instructor slates, etc.
STEPHEN R  this lanyard is just what I need for my dive light.
KAREN H  To connect my underwater camera to my BCD and be able to use the quick release if I need to extend my arms for a picture and not worry about the camera floating away
RONALD F  A must have for a camera. It only takes once to forget to attach your camera in Cozumel - the current carried mine away, never to be seen again!
RICHARD N  My Sealife DC1200 is an investment I'd rather keep a hold of without always having to utilzie my hands.........
OSCAR L  It makes comfortable and easy to load heavy and expensive accessories
