Reduced Backscatter significantly

By MARIETTA B.

Anyone with the Sealife camera, housing, and strobe knows about the back scatter. The Flex-Connect Flex Arm doesn't eliminate it all, but decreases it significantly. I use it along along with the rigid arm with a sea dragon flash.

Direct light wherever you need it:
Expand your underwater camera set with one click! - The Flex Arm allows for creative lighting, easy aiming, and reduced backscatter by positioning the flash or light farther away from the camera. Each arm has 100 Degree bending motion and adds 7" (17.8cm) of length. The Flex Arm quickly and easily clicks into a Flex-Connect Cold Shoe Mount (SKU: SLFFCCS), Grip (SLFFCG), Trays (SKU's: SLFFCM, SLFFCS, or SLFFCD), or Flex Arm (SLFFCA). Up to two arms can be added per side. Arm is made of fiber-reinforced polycarbonate material and stainless-steel hardware for maximum durability.

Expand your camera set with a click! Quickly and easily expand your underwater camera set with Flex-Connect - add grips, Flex Arms, trays, and other accessories with just a click! Flex-Connect allows you to transform your camera set from compact to full-featured in just seconds, providing a quick way to adjust to any dive environment.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Philippe R  What is the buoyancy of each flex-arm, or at least the weight?
B C  Arms have a negative buoyancy weight of 0.30 LBs
STEPHEN S  Does the flex arm attach only to the standard non-flex arm to extend it, or can you remove the standard arm from the camera base plate and attach the flex arm in its place?
Glenn C  I tried mine, and the flex arm fits with the non-flex removed. However, I've not used it this way. So far I just add it to the top as described in the instructions and in the ad pictures. But I might try it next time to see, in case I don't want to carry everything on the next trip. GC
KARL D  The flex arm can be attached directly to the base. I use it this way without the standard arm.
LILLIAN B  Yes, they are interchangeable. I swapped them out on my setup to make sure.
Rene C  You can remove the standard arm from the camera base plate and attach the flex arm in its place. However, the additional flex arm attached to the standard (non-flexible) arm really gives you more range to play with the light --(either the video or the flash). You have a wider circle option to position the light and can bring the light in or further out from the camera lens. Eventually, you will settle into the right fit you want for the type of shot you want to take. To be sure, with both attached, the arm is longer and more likely to "get in the way", so it's a question of taste.
STEPHEN S  Thanks for your detailed reply. I currently use an Ikelite strobe but am always looking to make my equipment more compact and lightweight for travel purposes. Since my wife also dives, there are always two sets of gear to transport in addition to our clothes! Thanks again, S.
Rene C  Thank you for your kind reply. I use both the Ikelite slave strobe and the Sealife. What I don't like on the Ikelite is the flex arm's length, but the slave function is better than the Sealife cable system. On the Ikelite, I add a Sola video light, using the velcro hand wrap that I wrap around the strobe. On the Sealife, the strobe and video lights have to be on separate arms. So, depending on the nature of the dive, I pick and choose. Back from Truk where the Ikelite / Sola combination for wreck penetration was best because of tight spots. For reefs, the Sealife flash and video light on separate arms with the Sola on a shoe mount on the camera head is for me to be the better combination, especially if you encounter the "Big Stuff" like a Manta or a fast moving shark. But this is personnal preference only and my own observation. Still looking for the perfect gear matching the perfect dive ! Hope the best to you and your spouse. Enjoy !
STEPHEN S  Thank you Rene! Any tips or other info is sincerely appreciated. S.
Shopper  how long are each pieces ?
KARL D  The arm is approx 7 inches long. The flexible portion of the arm is 5.75 inches long.
DAVID A  I think it is about 7", but am not sure. It is a great addition and a must have to really have flexibility in position the light. Clips right in easy as can be.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
RODNEY H  To use with SeaLife SeaDragon Strobes.
Doug B  This way you have better control the the light.
Glenn C  for obvious use as advertised.
