Backup dive light

By MICHAEL F.

Light, bright, rechargeable. A great back up light and brighter than a lot of primary lights. I've been carrying an Ikelite PCaLED light for the last several years and this is far superior. The only shortcoming is the 1.25 hr burn time but this is easily remedied by replacing the 750mAh battery with one of the newer 2300mAh ones. this should get it close to the 4 hr range. The price is great as well.

Backup dive light

By MICHAEL F.

This is the neatest and best backup light that I've seen. First it's re-chargeable. The ones that I've been using for the last ten years or so use 6 AA batteries and are excellent lights. I've used them as my primary light on several occasions and they were fine. This light is much lighter as well as brighter. The flashing mode is great for getting someones attention. I always carry my backup light on daytime dives to look into holes as well as to see the true colors of something.

The Sport Tac II features 500 lumens on high mode with a 10½ beam angle from its CREE LED lamp. This light is designed as an all - purpose light, but still has a depth rating of 328' (100m)! It burns for over 2 hours on high and includes a visual battery charge indicator (green; full, yellow; half, red; low). The integrated USB charger means there is no reason to take the battery out of the light! With a beam distance of 672.6' (205m) on land, this is the best light for all your sporting needs!

Light has 3-output modes of 100% (high), 50% (low) and SOS. The lights burn times are 2-hours+ at 100%, 4-hours 40-minutes at 50% and 4-hours 30-minutes in SOS mode. Powered by a single rechargeable 3.7V, 2600mAh, 9.62Wh, 18650-A lithium-ion battery (included), the light has a recharge time of 4 to 5 hours. The battery has safety control circuitry that will prevent accidental surges, overcharging and explosive discharge. This piercing narrow beam light has a color temperature of 5700½K to 6900½K. The compact Tovatec Sport Tac II Light measures (L x Dia.) 6.3" x 1.1" (160mm x 28mm) and weighs 4.4 oz. (124.74 g). The light can fit easily in your pants/BCD pocket. Lights switch is a magnetic toggle with battery indicator. The light is made from an anodized aluminum and has a glass lens. Included with the light are an adjustable wrist lanyard, USB cable and owner's manual.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Mike H  What is max depth rating?
darrick c  Hello Mike, 328 feet or 100 meters.
Shopper  My package came with an o-ring. Where does it go? In the inner cap? or the outer cap? It doesn't have an owner manual
Mario C  That is correct that extra o-ring is a spare for the battery compartment.
PETER B  I contacted the manufacture there is an o ring in the unit and that is a spear.
Mario C  Extra O-ring for the battery compartment.
RON S  Does this come with a charging cable, and if so, does it plug into a wall socket?
John M  The light comes with a USB charging cable. It does not come with a wall adapter, but it can be charged using any USB wall wart (smart phone, Kindle, etc.) or plugged in to a USB port on a computer.
ADRIAN M  I think it comes with a USB cable. But no wall charger. You just have to plug it into any USB outlet to charge it. I really like this flashlight.
Olen B  It does come with a charging cable with a standard USB connector on one end. It does NOT come with 110 VAC to USB charger. Use your computer or phone charge to recharge it
james e  Yes and yes the back unscrews-- the light is great--
William G  It's a USB cable and will plug into any USB port to charge. No wall charger adapted is included.
MICHAEL F  I believe that it comes with a USB cable but no charger. You can buy a USB charger that plugs into the wall for a few bucks. It is charged through a micro USB port inside the cover.
ROBERT D  It does. You plug it into a lap top or other devise or adapter with a USB port. You can get a wall USB charge cheap and it will work for lots of other things. Gopro ect.
Jeff S  I believe you do get a cable but not a charging brick that does into a wall socket. I plug mine into the USB port of my computer. Recommend this light. Much better than other more expensive units.
JEREMY K  It comes with a micro USB cable, but no wall charger. You can plug the cable into any computer USB port or into a phone charger. Excellent value flashlight by the way. It saved me a lot of money on those CR123A batteries, and with the adjustable beam, it works both as a floodlight for photography in clear water, and a spot beam when I hunt.
BRANDON C  Yes it comes with a cord and wall plug, they can be seperated and use in a USB style port.
MARK W  Comes with a short USB cable that plugs into a computer or any standard 2V wall charger that will take a USB cable like one for an iPhone etc.
Laura E  It does come with a charging cable. The micro USB end plugs into the battery end cap and the other end, a standard USB male end, plugs into a female USB port. You can plug the standard end into a laptop or electric plug adapter, which the user must provide. It works well. This system eliminates the need to carry AA batteries and a charger with you when you travel. Instead, we just purchased a single proprietary lithium battery (one with over-charging protection) as a second battery. To date, we have not needed the backup battery.
STEVE M  Yes it comes with a charging cable and you can charge the light by plugging it into a wall socket. However, you need an adapter (that does not come with the light) to go from the USB to wall plug. I think virtually every iPhone comes with one of these adapters so I didn't have to buy one, though I'm sure they can be purchased for very little money. This is a great light at a bargain price. I love it.
Paul B  The unit does come with a charging USB cable. It doesn't include the wall charger part. You could purchase one. I have been charging it of a pc, but for an upcoming trip I will likely use a wall charger as well. I do like the light. I am using it for a secondary. I hope that help....
Shopper  where is the on-off switch?
Laura E  The On/Off switch is on the side of the barrel. It is closer to the LED end of the light than the charging end. You simply slide the switch forward to activate the light's high beam. The switch springs back to a neutral position. Push the switch forward again to dim the light to its lower beam. The third push activates the strobe phase. A fourth slide turns the light Off You do not have to cycle through all 3 settings to turn off the Tovatec Sport 2000. If you turn it on and leave it ON for at least 10 seconds, the next push of the On/Off switch turns the light OFF. I hope this answers your question.
BRITT P  It is at the top of the cylinder for the battery on the beam adjustment knob.
RICHARD W  it's a slider right where the narrow part merges with bulb and focus ring. Works very easy.
MICHAEL F  It's a slide switch near the front. It's actually the little bump on the bottom left of the picture. This is a great light. It's as bright as much bigger and heavier lights. The battery runs down when not used but it recharges with no problem. The life is OK with the supplied battery which is 750mAh. There are 2300mAh replacements available for <$2 that will give you around two and a half hours of burn time.
james e  On the side its magnetic and perfect. I'm Hampton in Hawaii and this flashlight never leaves my side size weight and power are great plus it's rechargeable which is perfect environmentally friendly I love it
John M  On the barrel of the light. It is spring loaded. One push forward to turn it on, subsequent pushes to activate low-powe, strobe, and off. I think I remember reading it is a magnetic switch that does not penetrate the barrel.
DOMINIC R  its a slide thumb button that u push up on. very good light. takes a long time to charge fully but lasted a very long time -- took it to roatan worked all week including 2 night dives .. took it down over 100' feet no issues very bright and well made heavy durable feeling light
Jeff S  Right above the handle on the head of the light. Great light at a great price. 3 settings are very helpful and easy to use.
Pankaj D  I'm intending to use this for photography - opinion on the light performance itself and also on the mounting systems that can be used to mount a pair of these?
MARK S  The way I found this light helpful was to have it on a wrist lanyard and to brighten up shaded places. My GoPro was in the other hand on a selfie stick and the light was handy to just turn on when needed. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on a night dive. To see how it was handy, check out my video segment from one of our dives where visibility wasn't the best. You can search YouTube for BVI Big Nurse Shark by Mark Stein. That shark was totally missed by my buddy just ahead of me but with the light I had a good look. Good luck! -Mark
DANCU A  I used this light in carabian sea at 100ft , with my camera and I very satisfied, it's works very good For closer photos it's amazing. Thank you tovatec
