If you like the idea of having a copy of your dive log on your PC to review & annotate, the Suunto Dive Manager & PC connection are great products. All in all, they worked as advertised & are great additions to your dive gear.
I did have a little trouble initially getting connected to my Suunto Cobra dive computer , but that was my fault because I didn't realize that the Cobra needed to be in "data" mode before it would react to the PC connection. I guess I was expecting a USB "plug and pl...ay" connection.
Anyway, once I had the Cobra in the right mode, the PC connection immediately recognized it & stepped me through the process of transferring the dive log to the PC. The connection wasn't particularly speedy, but unless you do hundreds of dives, you won't be doing it all that often anway.
After I had the log transferred, the Suunto Dive Manager UI was very friendly & efficient. I spent a few hours reviewing my dives, adding gear items, & annotating each dive with my own information. It can actually become somewhat addicting if you're a detail-oriented person like I am.
All in all, the Suunto Dive Manager & PC Connection worked as advertised & can be great additions to your dive gear if you're the type of person who likes having a copy of your dive log on your PC (mine is a Dell Dimension 8400 running Windows XP SP2).
Bought this cable to use with a used Suunto Vyper dive computer. Hooked it up, downloaded the USB adapter drivers from Suunto (Windows couldn't find them on its own), installed and rebooted, and it started working. Just had to figure out that I needed to put the dive computer into the proper mode to initialize comms with the PC, and I was able to pull off all the old dives. So now I have a nice empty memory to store my own dives in.
Writing in a log book is time consuming and if you don't have good handwriting illegible. Log books are small and difficult to fill in the blanks. The Suunto USB Download Kit is for uploading logbook dives to a PC/MAC in order to optionally store and organize the data, compute statistics, simulate dives and personalize the logbook file. Rather than filling out the logbook, just print out your log sheets to prove your diving experience. The USB cable enables you to connect your dive computer to Suunto DM5, available for PC and Mac. Compatible with Suunto HelO2, Vyper, Vytec, Vytec DS, Vyper Air, Cobra, Cobra2, Cobra3 and Zoop. For Computers see SKU's: SQTVWC, SQTVCW, SQTCBCWC, SQTCBC, SQTCBC2, SQTCB3CQ, SQTZPWBK, SQTZPC).
This product can only be shipped to U.S. addresses.

Thank you for your question. I found this note on page 42 of the Gekko manual.
"4.1.3. PC Settings Mode
Although the Gekko does not support PC-download,
the tissue calculations can be reset and all settings
returned to factory defaults using a PC-Interface cable
and special software. This feature is useful for dive
shops and their rental units only. The software is not
available to the general public.
To enter the PC Settings mode select MODE- 1
MEMORY- 3 PC SET (Fig. 4.14.).
NOTE! While in the PC SET mode, the connector/
water contacts are used only for the data transfer .
The Dive Mode IS NO T automatically activated if
the contacts are submerged.
Press the SMART (Quit) to exit PC SET mode. If a
button is not pressed or no data is transferred within
5 minutes, the instrument beeps and returns to the
timekeeping display automatically.

Does this fit the Zunto Zoop Novo? The Novo has a round connector
DONNA L
have a sunto viper, the connector is rectangle but I and most people at the dive shop can't get the sunto to connect using the usb. it's very frustrating. I've emailed sunto and received no help. but I don't think that usb cord will fit your zoop. Donna

Will this work on windows7?
MICHAEL Y
both versions of the software work on windows 7. I prefer the older version as it supports multiple users.
YAN G
Yes.
Shopper
is it compatible with suunto stinger?
CRAIG M
Check with Suunto to be sure.
YAN G
No, it is not. No cable is available anymore that will work with the Stinger.
RICHARD J
I didn't own the download kit when I had the Stringer. Numbers were small on the Stinger so I sold it and bought the Vytec and later the Vytec DS. Works great with those. Check Suunto"s Web Site for that compatibility.
