Great Fins

By Kwaj D.

I bought these for my 10 yo daughter who just completed her open water SCUBA class. These fins worked great for her. They are very light and so easy to put on/take off that she does not need any help. I love the fact that they fit her small/narrow foot now and can be adjusted as she grows. The price was just as great as the product.

The Caicos fin has an extended sole plate, which adds thrust and relieves strain on your foot. Built with a simple and reliable strap adjustment system for ease of donning and doffing. A contoured foot pocket design gives maximum comfort. Fins can be used with or without booties. Manufactured from high grade polypropylene material which is durable and long lasting for years of performance. The directional channel, in the middle of the fin, increases propulsion efficiency. Vent spaces, on each side of the fin, releases water not involved with thrust. Structurally optimized hinge point provides correct fin shape throughout kick cycle. Fin is available in multiple colors and sizes.

Questions about this item:

ROBERT M  Do these come in different lengths? I have a pair I love that are 22". The ones I see labeled short, look as long as mine in the  picture, but I want to be sure I order the right ones for other people. ( my adult children)
darrick c  Hello Laura, yes, the length of the fin would be the same.
ROBERT M  Thank you. One more question, The color listed as yellow, looks green on my computer. like a spring green, or yellow green. If they are really yellow, I would prefer blue for my son, but if they are a yellow green as they appear, I think he might like them. Let me know your opinion.
darrick c  Hello Laura, they are a Neon Yellow color not Green.
RICK I  The tabs holding the straps keep popping out.  No problem to find at the bottom of a swimming pool and reattach.  But I am afraid they will get lost in the ocean.  Any suggestions?  Any replacement tabs available?
Mario C  Hi Rick, Could not find your order to be able to gauge if under warranty or not ( 2 years) if under warranty - link below https://www.leisurepro.com/g/Service-Repair we do not sell replacement straps for it but i can see other retailers doing it. https://www.google.com/search?q=akona+caicos+strap&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS906US906&oq=akona+caicos+str&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j33i160l3.7851j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Hope it helps Dive dive dive!!
Shopper  how long are these fins?
Mario C  Thank you for your question. I measured up the size S/M 4.5-8 and it came out at 22 inches. Hope it helps.
Shopper  Can these be worn with neoprene socks or are boots required? Can they be used for scuba?
MARILYN M  I have worn these fins with booties with no problem. However, they are a little light for diving. I've found these fins best for snorkeling.
JAY S  yes my wife uses boots with them she scuba dives but not very often
SARAH S  Neoprene socks work well - I have not tried boots
AGNES L  Boots are not required, but I wore them scuba diving with boots, while my husband has worn them snorkeling barefeet. You can certainly wear them with neoprene socks. They run a little bit wide though and that's how they fit my husband who wears size 10 men's wide. I wear a size 8 women's and have really narrow feet.
KEITH H  I'm a woman wearing a size 8 shoe. I wear a 2-3 mm boot to dive. What size would I wear in these. Also, I'm looking for a good travel fin that I can pack in my carryon - how heavy and how long are these fins in the size that I need?
MARILYN M  I wear a size 7.5 shoe, so I followed the advice of other reviewers and bought the SM/MD (fits size 4.5 to 8). While I have plenty of room for my booties, you will most likely need the next larger size. Those will be 23" long. Pros: I have these Akona Caicos fins in pink because I love being a girl, it's a great cause and frankly, the color makes them very easy to find in the heap of black fins on a boat. I absolutely love them for snorkeling. They're very light and comfortable, and the side holes make it really easy for carrying them around. Cons: I've found them too light for diving thought, so I use heavier fins for that. All in all, GREAT snorkeling fins, but if you're looking for diving fins, I highly recommend jet fins with spring straps.
