WONDERFUL

By PAT W.

 -  Albany, OR, US

I would recommend this shark skin to anyone, the only thing you have to be careful with is the sizing. I am a size 10 in most things I wear. I read the other reviews and they all said this runs large so I was very careful what size I ordered. I took my measurements and went by their size chart. I ended up ordering a size 6. The first time I put it on it was snug, after being in the water it stretched out and was actually some what loose. I do believe it helped keep me warm thou. I dove ...

Perfect solution

By DONALD S.

Excellent customer service, product and timing!! They helped me pick a size. Fit was great! Wore it under 3 ml wetsuit. Stayed warm in 72 degree water for 2 - 1 hour dives!!

The Sharkskin Chill-Proof Undergarment by Bare is primarily designed for use under a dry suit for colder water diving. The front entry zipper makes the suit easy to get on-and-off. The chill-proof material provides warmth and insulation in the case of a minor leak or even when completely saturated. The windproof membrane keeps you extra warm during surface intervals. The undergarment is equipped with stirrups and thumb tabs (loops) to prevent ride-up when donning a wet or dry suit. They will also make donning of exposure suits easier with their smooth slick surface.

Sharkskin Chill-Proof Material is an aquatic specific, windproof 3-layer composite material that has been developed for water sports athletes. The comfortable micro fleece' layer is next to the skin and Degree wicks' moisture and sweat away from the body to help keep you dry. The second middle Degree technical' layer is 100% windproof yet breathes to regulate body temperature while stopping wind chill. The third outer layer is a nylon/Spandex blend for abrasion resistance and 4-way stretch. It is also UV resistant for sun protection and has a durable water repellent finish (DWR) to provide a protective shell that Degree sheds' water. Sharkskin Climate Control Chill-Proof is neutrally buoyant, anti-microbial, odor resistant, itch resistant and machine washable. Suit is black in color and available in multiple sizes.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Leslie C  Can this be worn under a 3/5 mm wetsuit ?
MARK S  Yes. It’s one of my most versatile pieces of dive gear. I wear it alone as a skin in warm water, under any of my wetsuits to inhibit water movement in the wetsuit and add warmth and under my drysuit as an undergarment.
ASHLEY S  Yes, I've worn mine under a 5mm for added warmth.
CAKEBYEDIE C  what compared mm is this suit?
PATRICIA H  The website states it's about a 2 mm on it's own and a 3 mm under a wetsuit. I dive in Kona and the water temp has been 75°. I've been very comfortable with this and a 3 mm. The 3 mm is not enough for me. The great thing about the sharkskin is it goes on easily and my wetsuit is easier to pull on. I struggle with a 6 mm. The only downside is the price. For me it was worth it. Hope this helps.
CAKEBYEDIE C  Thank you for taking the time, that is the answer/explanation I was looking for. I dove in a 2MM for a long time and in most 80 degree dives it was perfect. But as I get older I do get cold faster.
PATRICIA H  Someone told me that for every year you dive in Kona, you add 1 mm. I also add a reusable hand warmer for the second dive. I snap it and throw it down the front of my wetsuit just before I jump in. I buy Hot to Go from Amazon 8 for $20). I keep extras in my dive bag for other people who get cold. They're always appreciated and I get the kudos for offering them. Have fun diving.
CLARE F  This cannot be compared to a wetsuit. It is an undergarment for a drysuit. You could also wear it as a skin in warm water for protection against stinging critters. I do also have a sharkskin hooded vest I wear under my wetsuit that helps keep water from flowing down the back of my neck.
