Easy to use and set up. I use it for wrecks and it is very easy to use. Definitely recommend
In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay-out the line and if they didn't empty the entire spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive since winding the line was difficult if not impossible. The Aqua Ratchet Primary Reel is a large diver's reel designed for cave and wreck diving. The reel is available with 2-line lengths of 140' or 250' (42.7m or 76.2m).
This unique, high impact and corrosion resistant plastic reel is extremely durable and feature a unique, thumb operated, ratchet lever line payout design. Press the lever and the spool releases line, stop pressing and the ratchet lever stops spool from turning. Reel is equipped with strong and durable line that has a special braid capable of holding a maximum 176 lbs (80kg) of dry weight. To attach the reel to your equipment, reel has a chrome-plated bass spring loaded 360 Degree swivel gate clip and a durable ABS plastic handle. The reel positions the handle on top, which helps divers who use a handheld light to hold both the light and the reel in one hand, freeing the other hand to work the reel.

I have a crazy question. How much weight will the line hold? Does this have a quick release to allow the reel to run free?
CHRISTOPHER P
YEs has quick release just hold the button open.
No idea about weight the line will hold but it's huge.
You could probably anchor a small boat with it!!
JASON H
The release on the reel is lever action with spring to lock. It does not stay in free flow. The cord is braided and can hold a fair amount of weight.

I estimate that the line will hold 60 to 75 lbs. The reel will not free wheel. It requires that you press the yellow spring loaded release lever just below the hook with your thumb to pay out the line. I use this reel every dive and like it very much. I suggest taking off 50 ft of line before using, it tends to fall off the sides and tangle if its too full. I also used a sharpie to mark off 10 ft intervals to 50 ft. Hope that helps.
STEVEN N
It has a spring loaded release which must be held open during unwinding but ratchets to allow rewinding without holding. Guess the line will hold between 10 and 20 lbs but never tried to break it

No idea where was made, but is not the best reel, is not durable and bulky you can invest a little more for safety, specially for cave diving.
