Any chance the snap clip can slide off the ring portion? In the picture of the product there appears to be a large gap between the end of the ring and the straight rod portion. The ring doesn't appear to be touching the straight portion.

I never had that problem with the clip slipping off the ring since the clip is larger than the gap in the ring end of the rod. You can tighten it with pliers if necessary. The only problem I did have was that end of the ring getting caught in my mesh bags. I now store them in one of my lycra dive socks until ready to use

The rattle is extremely annoying to fellow divers
TAMMY C
Rattle? Are you talking about rattles in general? Or referring to this product hitting against the tank?
JEANETTE D
My mistake the same version has rattle

I've had these for several years and not had any problems. The picture looks a little misleading, but you can always close the loop up a little with a vice. Probably done 40+ dives in the Red Sea and Bahamas w them. The short one isn't too handy and I'd recommend replacing it with a reef hook for those high current dives.

I added a lanyard to keep on my wrist

The gap is big enough to cause problems, I used a vise to tighten it up. We also used lanyards to attach it to our wrists while using them and they are even smaller in diameter. Attaching the lanyards to the snap ring worked. When not using them, we tucked them into our skins, up our wrists. They worked well and we didn't lose any in two weeks of diving around Komodo.

In the set I received the gap was too small for a clamp to slip off. I dove with it in a pretty strong current and there were no issues.

No. Snap clip does not come offf.
In case ring gaps bigger you can use a plier or hanmer to close the gap back.

The illustration is not accurate. The ring is sufficiently closed to prevent the clip from sliding off. We have two sets of these and have used them for several years from Florida to Indonesia, with no problems.
