JW Fisher s Basic Onscreen Display for Time, Date & GPS

JW Fishers On-Screen-Display allows important information to be overlaid on video picture from any underwater camera system. The On-Screen-Display shows time, date, and boat's GPS position (only for ROVs). With the optional sensor package, the water temperature, depth, and compass heading of the video camera are also displayed. Whether performing a job for a client or recording video of a favorite dive site, the information can be viewed on the monitor and captured on a DVR for a permanent record. The system works equally well with NTSC or European PAL video cameras. The On-Screen-Display system consists of two parts: a control unit and sensor package console (with ROVs the control unit is built into ROV console).

The control unit connects between a camera's video and sensor package outputs, and the input on the video monitor or DVR. The control unit also receives the boat's GPS output. The sensor package is installed in the ROV and connects to the control unit via the camera's umbilical cable. The On- Screen-Display is sold in two parts to maximize its affordability and allow the operator to have as much or as little data as required. The first part is Basic On-Screen-Display" (control unit only) which displays time, date, and the boat's longitude/latitude position on the video monitor. The second part of the On-Screen-Display is Additional sensor package" which displays the water temperature, depth, and compass heading of the ROV (SeaOtter-2 or SeaLion-2 only SKU's: JWFSO2 and JWFSL2).

The information is displayed in three segments:
1) Time and Date
2) GPS Position
3) Depth, Temperature, and Compass Heading

One segment of information is displayed on the screen at a time. The information segments are rotated 1,2,3,1,2,3, etc. All the information or any combination of individual segments can be displayed. An on-screen menu allows selection of display data and set up of parameters. The On-Screen-Display can be attached to almost any remote camera system. A single wire (plus ground wire) is all that is needed to connect the sensor package to the control unit. When the On-Screen-Display (OSD) package is purchased with Fishers SeaOtter-2 or SeaLion-2 ROVs, the OSD control box is not supplied. The electronics from the OSD control box is included in the ROV's control box.

The control unit measures (W x D x H) 8.3" x 9" x 3" (21 cm x 22.9 cm x 7.6 cm) and weighs 2.8 lbs. (1.27 kg). The sensor package board measures (L x W x H) 6" x 3" x 1.5" (15.25" x 7.6 cm x 3.8 cm) and weighs 10 oz. (283 g). The compass sensor measures (L x W x H) 4" x 4.5" x 3.5" (10.2 cm x 11.4 cm x 9 cm) and weighs 4 oz. (113.4 g). The temperature sensor measures (L x Dia.) 2" x 1" (5 cm x 2.5 cm) and weighs 1 oz. (28.4 g). The depth sensor measures (L x Dia.) 2.5" x 1" (6.4 cm x 2.5 cm) and weighs 3 oz. (85 g). Sensor board to surface cable - single wire plus ground (two 22-gauge wires or larger, 1,000' (305 m) max).
