SharkSkin ChillProof Trilaminate Micro Fleece Socks Review - Scuba Gear Reviews

By WilliamC

socks are great, but the 2XL are quite large for me, even though sizing guide stated this would be the appropriate size.

Keeps feet warm

By Kailey W.

 -  Honolulu, HI, US

I wear these with my free diving fins and they work extremely well; however, they are almost too thick to fit in my scuba booties.

The secret-is-out! From kayakers, jet-skiers and multi-sports enthusiast, to dry suit wearers and spear fishermen using full foot fins, the Chill-Proof Socks by Bare keep your feet dry by wicking the moisture-away! 100% warm and super toasty use under boots or by themselves these socks will help your wet suit slide over your feet easily and help in donning your boots. Sharkskin Chill-Proof Socks are a great choice for layering or as standalone for protection from chaffing and UV exposure.

Sharkskin Chill-Proof Material is an aquatic specific, windproof 3-layer composite material that has been developed for water sports athletes. The comfortable 'micro fleece' layer is next to the skin and 'wicks' moisture and sweat away from the body to help keep you dry. The second middle 'technical' layer is 100% windproof yet breathes to regulate body temperature while stopping wind chill. The third outer layer is a nylon/Spandex blend for abrasion resistance and 4-way stretch. It is also UV resistant for sun protection and has a durable water repellent finish (DWR) to provide a protective shell that 'sheds' water. Sharkskin Climate Control Chill-Proof is neutrally buoyant, anti-microbial, odor resistant, itch resistant and machine washable. Socks are black in color and available in multiple sizes.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Would these socks be good for surfing in cold water behind a boat with a wet suit?
CHARLES E  I don't think they would be good for that. They are a loose fitting extra layer of insulation. I actually really like these under my hard sole dive boots for warmth on cold dives, but when worn without anything else they tend to shift and slide around pretty easily. Also the outer layer material is relatively slippery and there is no added grip on the bottom of the foot. Although if you want an added layer of insulation under boots or soft dive shoes, I would highly recommend these.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
