Best Piece of Gear I Own

By Bug H.

I'm a NorthEast wreck diver -- and this suit is the envy of everyone on the boat diving in Dry Suits. It is a flash to put on and take off -- and wearing a lava core liner underneath, I'm as warm (or warmer) than everyone else during deco. This suit is awesome. You'll never want to dive in a dry suit again. *Note -- have NOT tested this below 40* water. But at 43 degrees, I was still incredibly warm and comfortable.

Fantastic wetsuit

By Yes O.

As an Ohio diver a good wetsuit is crucial in the quarries, and this is just the ticket! At 65ft in 45 degree water it kept me quite comfortable. Quality build and great fit overall, very happy with the suit.

Enjoy the warmth of Hollis Gears new NeoTek cold water hooded semidry. Constructed from a compression resistant 8/7/6mm nylon 2 super-stretch neoprene and a Hollis exclusive ThermaSkin inner liner. Includes a front neck dam bib with revolutionary G-Lock horizontal front zipper for easy on/off and a tight barrier against water intrusion. Arms and legs are also sealed against leaks with an internal dam. All seams are quadruple glued and butt joined with a blind stitch construction which is all covered by a unique liquid seam. Suit is fitted with generous gusseted pockets on both the left and right thigh for storage of accessory items. Suit is available in multiple sizes and is proudly made in the USA.

Questions about this item:

SETH O  Anyone able to tell me how this suit has held up through long term use? like 60+ dives type use?
JOE S  I had about 300 dives on my suit before it started to even show any wear. and about 375ish dives before I had to replace it. I was doing a lot of training for people at the time of wearing this suit, both pool and open water. The zipper/Water Dam area started to pull away. I assume that is because of the stress I put on it while Donning that part of the suit over my head. I'm not very easy on my gear sometimes. The life of your gear is also dependent on taking care of it. Rinsing saltwater or chlorine from a pool off and not leaving it in the sun to dry will extend the life of this an any wetsuit.
MICHAEL G  So far my suit is holding up well. I use it both for local diving in the northeast as well as my cold weather suit when I dive outdoors during the winter at a aquarium (I am part of a volunteer dive team and we dive outdoor exhibits year round). For shore/boat diving I imagine this suit will last a long time. I dive my suit for both leisure and volunteer work (where it gets brushed against some pretty rough surfaces like faux rock structures) and suit still looks practically new.
Amalio Jose B  Hello, my suit has about 50 dives and so far everything is excellent.
bill r  Perfectly! Besides a little pilling, everything is still in tact! Zippers are perfect, inner seals are wearing well. It’s a great suit. I’m guessing 60-80 dives...
SETH O  what brand of zipper does this suit use? I've seen reviews say ykk, pk, and g-lock. which is it and how is its quality?
JOE S  As per the Hollis.com website, under the description of this suit, it shows a G-lock zipper. It has possibly used other brands in the past.
Winston J  Mine has a PK zipper. I haven't had any issues with it.
Sal C  Is the zipper a YKK?
IGOR I  This zipper is a G-Lock zipper and it’s not very durable, I replaced one suite by warranty because of zippier.
Winston J  No, not a YKK branded zipper.
JOE S  This zipper is a G-Lock zipper and is very durable and reliable. Made specifically for Marine environments to reduce water infiltration.
DAN K  No, it isn't.
CHUCK H  This suit sounds promising for Northeast cold water use; better than doubling up  5mm and 8mm suits to stay warm. In cold water my hands are the first things to go; what type of  gloves are recommended to go with the suit?
JOHN M  I’m a marine archaeologist and spend most of my bottom time make detailed drawings while lying fairly still. When wearing this suit I use two gloves; an extended cuff 5mm on my left (non-drawing) hand a 1.5mm on my right. Currently both of these are X-cel sealed seam surfing gloves which have an excellent dexterity to warmth ratio.
Warren M  I swear by Waterproof Five Finger 5mm G-1...not cheap but an excellent semi-dry glove... I wear the 5mm G-1 with both my dry-suit and my semi-dry... I dive cold water full time...the G-1 are excellent...
Kenneth G  I use a waterproof brand 7mm lobster glove for cold water at 45F. A good 5mm may work well with proper lining.
JOE S  I would recommend the Bare 5mm Ultrawarmth Gloves. Very warm.
ROBERT L  How do you know what size the hood is?
JOE S  The hood will be sized according to the suit size. you can find the size chart at Hollis.com Also, the hood is very stretchy so it comfortably fits a good range of head sizes proportionate to the suit size.
Kenneth G  The hood will be the same size as the suit; a medium suit will have a medium hood. The best bet is to find the size that fits your body the best rather than by hood size. Leisure pro has a good return policy if you get a suit and it doesn't fit right as long as it is unused.
