I started out with aqualung's total dry snorkel and switched to this after one season diving for abalone. What a difference having a good snorkel makes. With the total dry on calm days it was o.k. but as soon as it got choppy the valve was closing too often and interrupting my breathing. With the impulse 3 I never have this problem and the dry top diverts all water from going down into my mouth unless the snorkel is completely submerged by a wave for a couple seconds. I got the rigid pipe mod...el as opposed to the flex model so when I'm ascending fast after a dive it doesn't feel like it's trying to twist out of my mouth due to the flexible tubing.
If your were to buy this product in a dive shop without any kind of discount it would be a little steep, but the price on here is totally worth it's value. I have tried countless snorkels and between snorkeling and diving have gone through several snorkels to find one that is at least semi-good.
Super easy to purge, great overall design, never gets water in waves, and really easy to breathe. I would get this snorkel again in a heartbeat.

Looks like a basic snorkel for scuba an skin diving. In my opinion the more bells an whistles on top of a snorkel make it harder to use (breath). My 2 cents.
