we like them

By Randi R.

I was surprised by the negative reviews. We bought one because our BCD weight pockets are so far in back for a large person it was making my wife flip over. During the testing I realized I had similar problems. This gives us great control. The construction is solid which makes them stiff. The position clips are a bit difficult to move. I would like to see a snap buckle type adjustment. I made custom weights of sheet lead specific to these pockets. I can get 6# in them. I have a hard time bel...

Great product

By Cragar

This is a very nicely designed and functional weight belt. The 5# soft lead shot bags are a snug fit, probably as big as you can get into the pouches.

This award-winning product is the most comfortable weight belt ever developed. It is fully adjustable and designed for a custom fit on every diver. Each belt has two independent sleeves with pockets that are sewn together. Thus, a six-pocket belt has two sleeves built from three pockets. Pockets are built with 1000 Denier Cordura for durability and long life. Double needle stitching adds to their strength and durability. Pockets hold up to 5 lbs. (2.27 kg) of hard or shot lead and the 2" (5.1cm) Nylon Webbing Belt adjusts quick and easy to your size.

Large hook and loop closures reduce the chance of weight loss and unused pockets Velcro flat and streamlined. Belt is equipped with a quick release molded glass filled nylon buckle and four stainless steel weight keepers which prevent the weight pockets from shifting along the belt webbing. Each belt comes equipped with a female quick-disconnect clip for attachment of accessory items. Belts are available in 4, 6 and 8 pocket versions and come in multiple colors. XS Scuba's Weight Belt holds US Patent # 6146053.

Shopper  What about weights for the weight belt? I don't see any
darrick c  Hello, weight for this belt is sold separately. If you want to call our sales team at 1.800.347.2822. They will be able to help you get the proper weighting for this belt.
Gary S  What's the best way to keep smaller soft weights (e.g. 1-2lbs) from falling out of the bottom edge openings on each pocket?
STEVE T  Sew it to the pouch
Frederico O  what's the item number please?
B C  SKU: XSSWB WB104 - Up to 20 pounds in four pockets WB106 - Up to 30 pounds in six pockets WB108 - Up to 40 pounds in eight pockets
MIKE H  What is the overall length of the belt? I have heard they are all 60" no matter if you order the 4 pocket or 8 pocket. I just wanted to make sure this is true. Also, are the pockets secure on the belt or due they move around?
MICHAEL S  The pockets are removable from the belt and can be adjusted towards the front or back, but they stay in place while wearing the belt. This means that the nylon belt itself can be replaced if it wears out or is not long enough. I don't know about the belt length, but I got the six pocket belt and it had a lot more length than I would ever need. The pockets are well made and well designed, so much better than anything else I've seen. I don't work for XS Scuba, but whoever designs their gear really understands my diving needs.
ROBERT H  I know i had to cut the belt because it was long. as far the pockets 4 keepers as shown in pictures 2 on each side. basically the keepers sandwich the pockets on each side.
SETH F  The total length of the belt on the 4 pocket version is 55 inches. The pockets are secure on the belt, they won't move around during a dive. However, you can adjust them on the belt a little. I have about a 30-31 inch waist, I wouldn't use this belt if your waist is smaller than that.
ERIC V  I don't recall the overall length of the belt as I did cut it down (rounded edges and lightly melted to seal against fraying) but it was definitely a lot longer than the 30" or so that it is now. There are metal "pass thrus" which you can see in the photo which stay in one place once you slide them into the desired position. If you position one on each side of the group of pockets, i.e. 4 in all, then everything stays in place perfectly. If you want more than 2 groups of pockets, then you will need to find a way to secure the additional pocket group in place... Find 2 more metal slides, sew or pin them in place. Overall it's great to be able to just add weights to your pockets positioned exactly where you like them then having to slide, position, hope they stay,... on every dive day.
ROSE D  Hi Mike, I love my belt but had to cut it down to fit so I don't remember the exact length. You can look up their website and they have a phone # there where they can answer your questions. Leisure Pro had the best price for this item. The pockets do not shift around and there is a metal slider to keep them stable. The belt does not shift on your body and stays in place. I ordered an extra pocket as I always seem to be weight challenged (steel vs aluminum etc) If you have room on your belt just attach it there and leave it empty for adjustments. I creatively attach mine wherever I can. I 1st saw this belt when friends were using theirs and they adored it. That was good enough for me. Get it, it's great. Happy diving and have a great day. Rose
BRIAN E R  I have the 6 pocket and I had to trim a lot off, I think close to a foot (I have a 36" waist) so I think the size is okay for most people. The pockets have metal slides on each side of them to keep them from moving during a dive but allows you to pick the location best for you. These are a pain to move so take the time to get it set up correctly before the dive because it will not be possible to adjust in the water.
KEELY J  Yes the belt was long and I cut it off (and remelted the raw edge) because I'm very small. No, they aren't secure they can be positioned how you like them. Mine are 2 & 2 . I really like mine! I hope that helps! Happy diving :-)
ANDREW P  Mine has 6 pockets. It measures 48 inches. Pockets are sewed together in groups of three. Each group slides over the belt which would allow you to put in a longer belt if necessary. The pocket groups are kept from sliding by a belt glide at either end (4 glides total).
Shopper  Are these XS Scuba Single Tank Weight Pockets that are sewn together? if yes, how are they sewn together? if not, can I cut them apart to make individual pockets. The belt is less expensive than 8 XS Scuba Single Tank Weight Pockets. Thanks
KEN K  Hello: Thanks for your interest in the dive gear mentioned above. I have used these belts for several years now and their GREAT !! It is a solid heavy nylon belt that has another belt of same lenth sewn onto it. Where a web belt can be threaded through giving it a balence and an almost nonexistance in the feel when wearing it. I highly recommend it with soft weights especially. The comfort is nothing like you've experienced before with a weight belt. As to cutting it, I wouldn't unless you would never need one or more of the pockets. You can simply choose not to put weight in one or more of the pockets. You'll never know the difference. Best Wishes and Hope you like your XS Belt !!! Ken Kirby IDC Staff Instr. Scuba Doo Dive & Travel Corryton, Tenn. 37721 (865)388 -5566
ALISON D  Nope, you can´t cut them apart to make individual pockets. My belt has 2 groups of three pockets each and if you separate the three pockets you would open each end and then wouldn´t hold the weights. There is a single wide band that connects/creates the three pockets and by cutting the band between them you open the sides of the pockets.
PATRICIA L  They are sewn to the belt sleeve in such a way that cutting them apart would ruin them (looped together. I really like this belt by the way.
KEVIN A  Hi, I have the 4 pocket XS Scuba Weight Belt. It has two pockets sewn together and attached to a tubular webbing on each side (two sets of two) of the belt. The weight belt is slid through the tubular webbing, but is not attached to the belt by any other means (nothing sewn or adhered to). Basically, you could undo the sliders and the belt clips and slide the two sets of pockets off of the belt. You would then have a pair of of dual weight pockets and a weight belt. Hope that helps. Kevin
LUIS G  Yes, they are sewn together in two sets of three weight pockets that can be separated from the weight belt and I also bought them for the same reason--price. Because they are sewn together as two sets of three pockets and not sewn to the weight belt you can actually take them off and use them with the waist buckle and webbing of a backplate, as long as you are ok with three on each side of the waist buckle.
LUKE S  Hi there. I bought one off these and the pockets are seen together in 2 groups of 4 so you can either have 4 pockets on your belt or 8. And honestly 8 is designed for 40lbs. which is alot (and I am big guys diving in cold New England waters). There is no way to detach the individual pockets from each other without ripping/cutting them and potentially ruining the belt. My advice (which I wound up doing later) would be to buy individual pockets from XS Scuba and put them on the belt. That way as your weighting needs change you can easily readjust without the bulk of empty pockets on your weight belt.
