In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didn't empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The Finger Spool is most often used as a gap reel or for short distance exploration. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped-off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in a double-ended snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use.
Blue Reef's Finger Spools come equipped with a durable corrosion resistant stainless-steel double-ender bolt snap. The Spool is stainless steel for strength, corrosion resistance and long life. The Line is international orange nylon line. The Blue Reef Finger Reel is available in 2-Sizes that have line lengths of 100' (30.5m) and 150' (45.72m).

is the reel the same size regardless of line length or does this come in three different sized reels?
LEWIS D
The best I know there is just one size reel for this brand.
It is stainless steel and is fine quality. I have had mine for a couple years and still looks like new.

How wide is the 50' spool?
JEAN MARC H
I wish I could answer.
The spool got loose on a very deep dive and I kissed it good bye.
The problem with this spool is that the stainless edges are too thin and the double ender kept on getting disconnected. If you keep it in a tool bag or pocket that might be ok but then be careful as you pull it out.
Definitely not usable with thick gloves.
So in short it's cheap and can work for some task but not a hard core spool.
Daniel Z
I realize it will sink if dropped. I would use the 50' version in shallow water only.
JEAN MARC H
Form what I recall it was maybe 1 1/2" wide.
Nice compact spool. I think I rather use delrin spool.
BRIAN W
The spool is about 2" wide. I love this spool because I am able to attach it to a D-ring on my BCD for easy access when I need to launch my safety sausage. It definitely recommend this spool to all of my students.
Daniel Z
There are several sizes this spool comes in. Was yours the 50' version?
