Great knife from Atomic. This thing oozes quality. It's made from Titanium so it won't rust. The holster is amazing; it slips in so easily but locks with a secure 'snap'. Removal is easy as well - slightly depressing the two buttons right by the handle let you slide it out. The button locations put your hand right by the handle for immediate and safe grabbing of the knife. Easy to get out when you need it but hard to accidently remove.
Straps are standard rubber straps but have a nice plast...ic locking mechanism to keep them the right length. Fits very securely and comfortably on your leg.
Knife size is perfect for any task - not too big, not too small. The handle has an amazing grip too. Comes with a smooth edge, a serrated edge, and a line cutter - everything you need. The blunt tip can be used for prying and chipping.
Highly recommend this - get the blunt tip so yo don't hurt yourself!
A dive knife is a tool a diver needs on every dive. Most knives are made of stainless-steel. A stainless-steel knife, if not cleaned and dried properly, will begin to rust. I always go blunt for dive knives. Remember you'll be using your dive knife as an underwater tool, not a shark assassination device.

I prefer pointer. Worrying about puncturing equipment has never been a problem. The pointed is nice to be able to use to get thing open or started! Great knife worth every dollar.

It's a matter of personal preference really. I go with blunt because you can use it as a pry tool or screwdriver in an emergency situation... To add you also can't easily stab yourself (or your equipment) with a blunt tip compared to pointed. If you are caught up in fishing line or kelp, you dont want to puncture your line or BCD right?! Some people might perfer the pointed end for use in piercing something in an emergency, but in all honesty this probably wouldnt help you anyway, and if the knife is sharp enough it should slice better than stab anyhow.

does the blade extend thru the handle?

I believe that it does, on the end of the handle there is a HEX type screw that you can remove which allows you to remove the blade completely from the handle. I will say this, I have had this knife with me on every dive, from Doria, U-869, to the shallow stuff since I bought it back in 2007 and it has never once corroded or let me down in anyway! It is a very well built, sturdy knife that should last you many years. Hope this helps.

Yes blade is bolted on from the tail of the handle. I have had this knife for 2 years now 60 + - dives nice knife stayed sharp no corrosion.
