Great mask I own two.

By Albert R.

 -  Bellevue, WA, US

This is the same type of mask that I first started diving with in 1974. A few years ago when I saw it on line at Leisure Pro for about $55 I bought one and like it so much that I bought a second one because the price was so good. It now lists for $98 but if I needed a mask it is the only mask that I would buy. They say you should not buy a mask with a purge valve because it could break and it cuts down on peripheral vision. The purge valves have always lasted a long time (the purge in the gla...

I LOVE this mask!

By Judah W.

I've been using this same model mask (except that it used to be made of black rubber with a polished stainless steel band before it was made of black silicone) for about 25 years and I think it's great! It's comfortable, clears easily, leaks very little and I can see very well through it. The one I'm currently using was a gift from my wife, who bought it for me to replace another model mask that I DIDN'T like! I've been a commercial diver for 24 of my 25 years of diving, and I've tried sev...

The Aqualung Pacifica is a perfect combination of simplicity and functionality. The single tempered glass lens design allows you to fully see your surroundings, unlike many multi-lens design masks that cause breaks in your field of vision. You won't miss a fish or find with this mask acting as your window to the underwater world.

Having water in your mask is never ideal, but sometimes a buddy accidentally kicks you or you smile for an underwater photo and a bit of water sneaks into the mask. Have no fear! The Pacifica's one-way purge valve allows you to simple exhale through your nose to rid the mask of the unwanted water. Purging your mask like you were taught during dive class is a thing of the past; the Pacifica allows hands-free clearing making this process easy and quick by simply breathing out.

The black silicone rubber skirt is ideal for anyone who likes to take underwater pictures. Because of its dark color, the skirt keeps excess light out of the diver's vision a feature sought after by many photographers. The double feathered edge mask skirt and wide split style mask strap combine to create a perfect seal on the face. Mask is equipped with an easy-to-reach nose pockets for ear equalization which can be utilized even when wearing thick gloves. The Pacifica is a medium volume mask design, has classic metal adjustable strap buckles and the shatterproof, tempered glass lens suitable for diving and snorkeling meets ANSI standards.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  A purge valve mask was my first one back in the early 90's. Its the only kind of mask I will use. And a single faceplate is also a must for me. Will I use an ordinary mask?
darrick c  Hello, here is the link to all of the purge masks we carry: https://www.scuba.com/l/Scuba-Gear/Masks/Masks-for-Adults?sel=Mask-Features_Purge-Masks. You should be able to find one that would work for your needs.
Shopper  Is it available in clear?
darrick c  No, only black silicone.
Shopper  What is the max depth reccomended for this mask?
RICHARD C  Not sure but I have been to 120 feet with no problems.
MARK C  I have had mine to 180 feet but I suggest you do not gtake yours that deep
MICHAEL Y  I don't know. I've dived with it to 120 feet, no problems.
RICHARD B  I don't know of a mask that has max depth ratings. With that being said this is a decent "old school" as they call it mask. Last year in the Turks & Caicos my son dove with it on West Caicos wall and Northwwest Point with our max depth around 90'. Your not going too much deeper as a recreational diver on no deco anyway. I was going to upload a few photo's with it on him, but no option under the Q&A part. Hope this helps.
FRANCESCA H  I'm confused about the nose purge. Is it to blow out water when it leaks into the mask?
RICHARD B  It is just a convenience feature. Any certified diver should know how to clear a mask with out a purge, but it allows one to look down and clear with out having to head up and break the bottom seal to clear.
JAMES H  yes you can blow water out of the nose purge above the surface of the water
MICHAEL K  yes, if you get water in the mask, exhaling through your nose will clear it.
WILLIAM A  Frankly I don't know what else it would be used for.
CARMINE D  you can
NORWOOD G  If you are under water and have any mask on it will leak a little and the purge is a convenient to expel it with out having to use ones hands. Also since I use glasses it’s just the right amount of room for a pair without the ears on of course.Enter an answer to this question.
MARK C  Yes, it's to blow out seepage. If youre going to dive moderate to deep depths I'd avoid a purge valve for safety reasons .
DANA S  It's the main reason for the purge. I makes clearing the mask a quick and convenient method, but there is one drawback to this mask. It requires 2 hands to equalize, as acess to the nasal indentions are tucked away behind the purge. I have one of these and they are nice, but the 2 hand procedure is a bother.
Shopper  How & where may I purchase the strap to this mask?
YAN G  We have generic straps that may work: http://www.leisurepro.com/p-aqums/replaceable-mask-strap .
