Awesome power fins

By NATHAN T.

 -  Conroe , TX, US

These fins are awesome for TEC diving. Great for frog kicks and all the modified kicks you would use in SM,CCR, cave and wrench diving. Love the shorter blade that gives tons of power without fatigue. I traded up to these from the my Hollis F1 and am never going back.

Compact & Powerful

By Deborah H.

 -  Seattle, WA, US

Bought these for drysuit dives and I also wanted to try a fin with a spring mount. The fin is not too heavy and helps with keeping feet down. Additionally it is super easy to don - spring stays taught on heel and doesn't move. Lastly, it doesn't take a lot to get moving in these fins. With normal kick power, the fin offers a great amount of propulsion. Got the yellow ones so I can be easily visible.

Designed in collaboration with the US military and renowned for outstanding performance and reliability, the APEKS RK3 is a rugged thermoplastic rubber fin featuring an over-sized foot pocket to accommodate dry suit boots and a spring strap for easy donning and doffing. The RK3 is available in three sizes of medium, large and super. APEKS didn't give the RK3 fin a shoe size range as this can be very misleading. The environment that an RK3 is used in will tend to dictate the size of fin that you need, for example do you dive in a warm environment wearing wetsuit boots, or are you walking across pebbled beaches and wearing a dry suit and rigid dry boots? Both forms of footwear may be a size 9, but will take up different amounts of space in the fin foot pocket. Therefore, APEKS recommend that you visit your local dive store and try the fins on with your own footwear, just to ensure that you're getting the right fit for your style of diving.

Based on one of the first vented rubber fins sold in North America and popular among military and professional divers. Compact, and ultra-rugged for use in harsh environments. Improved foot pocket with spring straps for ease of use with cold hands or thick gloves. The design has been the standard gear issue fin for military, special ops, coast guard and public safety divers for decades. Short wide blade provides maximum forward thrust while maintaining great maneuverability. Vented blade design reduces resistance on the upstroke and enhances thrust on the downstroke. The vents also eliminate vortexes that can occur along the back of the blade much in the same way split fins eliminate the vortex.

The blade material designed to hold up in the toughest environments, temperatures and abuse. Two large grommet holes designed to fit most carabiners for easy storage of the fins while accessing the dive site. Spring straps as standard, and custom designed buckle holds spring straps in optimum position. Simple push pin design allows simple replacement of springs if necessary. Fins are available in multiple colors. Fin dimensions and weights are as follows: Medium has a blade length of 19.3" (49cm) with an 8.66" (22cm) foot pocket depth, 3.54" (9cm) width and weigh 34.6 oz. (982 g). Large has a blade length of 21.46" (54.5cm) with a 10" (25.5cm) foot pocket depth, 3.74" (9.5cm) width and weigh 42 oz. (1.19kg). Super has a blade length of 22.4" (57cm) with a 10.63" (27cm) foot pocket depth, 3.94" (10cm) width and weigh 45 oz. (1.27kg).

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

DAN M  Are these bouyant, neutral or sinkers in salt water ???
JAMES W  Just a touch over neutral. The HD fins are negitive.
Patricia A  My size is at the top of the medium and bottom of the large size ranges. Is it better to buy smaller or larger?
PATRICK K  I am a man with a size 11 shoe and I got the large. My advance dive instructor a few years back introduced me to these fins and his comment was they ran small. I would go to the larger size. I dive both warm and cold water and I can fit any size boot in mine comfortable. I would add I have two other sets of fins one of those pairs in a Scubapro Seawing Novas and these are my preferred fins. They are compact, easy to get on and off and provide plenty of power when diving in current. I recommend these fins.
BRET B  I have a Size 10 foot I wear a large. My brother is a size 9 foot and my largest were too big for his 9 foot boot I’d get a medium if my boot was smaller than a Size 10. You could also find a boot that was thinner, that might help too
robert d  I'm a 8.5 mens size with booties what size should i buy?
Mario C  if those boots are tropical soles (thin) the medium should work better,,, if thick more like sneakers soles the L should be better
Mary K  What's the length of the small (from toe to strap)?
Mario C  + - 10 1/4 in
Nick Z  Is it hard to flutter kick? Is it hard to do the side stroke kick?
Jacob Z  Easier to do flutter kick then side stroke.
