R C : How is the tip extracted from the fish? I do not see a ring to keep the flappers held to the spear when extracting from the fish.Glenn M : there is no retention ring … the easiest way to extract the point is to push the whole thing all the way through the fish and then unscrew the point … or just unscrew the shaft from the point, leaving the point in the fish until you clean itAndrew Y : thats right, no ring here. I am using this tip for a few years. For surf perch or flat fish you can simply hold flaps together and push the tip through fish, perch is small and most of the time tip goes throuh. For anything bigger you either unscrew the tip or cut the fish. If the shot is close to spine or belly I usually cut.
