This is a very nice SMBJAN P : The closed cell means that it cannot be filled from the bottom via air vented from a regulator. It must be filled by either disconnecting your LPI hose from your BCD or by oral inflation. Some people (Tech diver) like to be able to use the vent from their primary reg to inflate the SMB as it conserves gas by using the exhaled air, this cannot be done on this type of SMB. Orally inflating an SMB requires a person to remove their air source from their mouth and some schools of thought believe this to be a risky practice (especially with novice divers)CHRISTOPHER H : The bottom is not open. Good because it will not leak out the air. Bad because it's a little harder to fill.

Hollis DSMB

Great closed cell DSMB. Bright colored, compact, and the reflector at the top is a nice touch. The inflator mechanism is easy to use to make sure you don't over inflate. Aside from this, the major issue I have is the price. It is wildly overpriced for what it is, but at least the boats that come across your DSMB will know you're using a piece of Hollis gear. Overall I would recommend based on the product features and quality if you can get past the price point.

Buoy is a closed cell design made from durable 300-D polyester material with radio frequency (RF) welded seams.
