    Rating: An Underwater Sun!
Reviewer: Michael Johnson, Tuesday, September 19, 2006 - View all my reviews
warning - firing up this light on a night dive may cause your dive buddies to develop a severe case of lumen envy! this is one powerful light. since the object of night diving is to see all the creatures that venture out after the sun sets, why not make sure you can really see them all? the light cannon blasts a strong beam into the deepest recesses and crevices exposing many more critters than a typical dive light. not only is the light super bright, its also super white making the colors really come alive. on a night dive in belize, we found 8 octopi and when each one was spotted i was always summoned to illuminate them with my light so we could really see the spectacular color changes. i also recently fabbed a lexan bracket to mount the light to my underwater camera housing. works great as a spotting light and supplement to the cameras built in flash for my very novice photography. also very helpful in taking night videos with the digital camera. no negative comments, but a few cautions. with 8 c cells, its heavy on the surface, but easy to handle once under water. it does take 20-30 seconds to reach full brightness and color. i dont have a good figure for the battery life, but theres no warning that the batteries are running low. once the voltage s to a certain level, the light just stops working. but as standard practice, i always have a back up light stashed in a bc pocket. also might be a good idea to pack an extra set of batteries for a trip as they can be expensive at some dive destinations.

    Rating: Let there be light
Reviewer: Brian Olson Instructor, Friday, August 18, 2006
If you’re looking for an all-purpose light that blows the doors off the competition, your search is over. The Light Canon 100 by Underwater Kinetics is the most versatile and brightest light in its class. This hand-held light is compact and light-weight for travel and easy use in and out of the water. The 25 watt equivalent HID (High intensity discharge) bulb puts out a warm blanket of white light that imitates sunlight for the most brilliant and true colors. This light is so effective and natural that many of the videographers I know are using it as a portable video light at a fraction of the cost of other video lighting systems. When coupled with the Gates Flexible Arm, it can turn any video or still camera into a brilliant way to capture images with vibrant colors and crystal clear focus. I was delighted to see that this light comes with batteries, lanyard, diffusers for a soft glow and a pistol grip handle. For the serious diver, a rechargeable battery pack is available for bright light throughout the life cycle of the battery. A lantern grip is also available for a moderate price. Overall, this is the most versatile and portable light I have ever used.

    Rating: UK Light Cannon 100
Reviewer: David Packman, Thursday, December 07, 2006
The UKLightCannon100 fills a niche in the dive light market. If you plan on having your light ON for the entirety of the dive this is a great light for you. It is battery efficient and bright as heck. It will light up entire cave passages better than most non-HID lights and is perfect for a safety guide who wants to provide illumination from behind. If, while on your dive you plan to turn your light off and on a few times the UKLightCannon100 may not be a great choice. It takes 30seconds to warm up-for the HID bulb to reach its full brightness. While very bright once warm the light tends to diffuse quickly. A tight beam on a halogen will light up an object further away because it does not diffuse as quickly. These two drawbacks make it less than perfect for signalling so if you are leading dives, you might not want to plan on using this as a primary light. All that said, I like my LightCannon100 alot. Scuba.com sold me the light for 50% of what it cost at my local dive shop. Thx Scuba.com!!

    Rating: UK Light Cannon
Reviewer: Steven Grzebiniak, Sunday, November 26, 2006
This is without a doubt, the brightest dive light Ive ever seen, I first saw one in use on a night-time manta ray dive off Kona, Hawaii. Of the 20 odd divers, all with different lights, the one person with the UK Light Cannon stood out as having the most bright, and just as important, most "white" light. We bought one and used it on a dive trip to Maui. It is rather expensive, but when you consider the investment youve made to do a night dive, in some exotic locale, the price becomes less of an issue as this light makes a night dive a whole new experience. We also purchased the rechargeable battery kit and I believe in the long run this will pay for itself.

I like the Underwater Knetics, HID Light Cannon 100, well, words could never express the excitment I have for my new toy. Words or action just do say enough about this light. I can never display the words to tell you much I Love my UK C 100, I wanted to buy another one, and us them of both at the same time. One person told me, its as bright as a RunWay, and on a recent night dive, everyone wanted to follow me. The true test, when I let another diver use it on a night dive, I must admit, I did not want to give my light up, one thing for sure, the UK 100, Its a Run Way, more light than you local Air port.

    Reviewer: Chris I., Friday, March 23, 2007
This light is hands down one of the best values in scuba gear. If you are contemplating buying your first light, spend a few extra bucks and get this one. It lives up to every one of its claims and more. I have used mine on over thirty dives so far and I always have the brightest light among the other divers with handhelds, and the rechargeable battery is still going strong. My only complaint is that the rechargeable battery pack doesnt have a charge indicator. You just have to be confident that you have had it plugged in long enough. The plusses outweigh the minuses on this one though. Five stars.

Reviewer: Joe R., Monday, May 14, 2007 - View all my reviews
Nice size. Very bright as the HID bulb may not be instantaneous, but does come on quickly. Price quoted sounded like a great deal compared to the suggested retail, but the same light on other sites was just a tad bit more, so this was a good deal (but knocked it down a star for this). I ordered some wholesale rechargeable batteries in high mA and a nice charger instead of the rechargeable pack. Given my frequency of dives, this more than gives me enough dive time, the turn-around recharge time. Kept the alkaline batteries that come with it for back-up. All in all, I like this light.

this baby really works well! i had a good beam concentration when descending, & the illumination is a+. the included diffusion filters helped for video/photo shots. the pistol gip is adjustable to balance the weight, & it feels good in the hand. the only caveat to a 5-star rating is the on/off switch: it was loose and wouldnt turn on the light when it arrived. i adjusted it as best as possible & it now works ok but at this price, i would like the factory switch installment to be flawless.

    Reviewer: Peter B., Wednesday, January 24, 2007
I had done a bit of research prior to purchasing the light cannon and it had received some very good reviews. When my dive instructor suggested it (without my prompting), it was a done deal. I tested it recently in Cozumel and the light cannon was far and away the brightest and most powerful light on our night dives. It really lit up the entire sandy bottom when I would scan the horizon. Very powerful...awesome dive light. I could light up fish & objects over 100 away!

I recently completed my Advanced O/W night dive and this was the light I used. it is a great light. such a nice, bright, white light. all 3 instructors with my group had this same light and 2 students had it too! everyone loves this light and for good reason. i also purchased the lantern grip with makes for a very relaxed hand gripping on the light. very highly recommended. its worth the buck for the bang you get from this light.

The UK Light Cannon is,by far, one of the brightest underwater lights available for an affordable price, especially at SCUBA.COM. My first dive experience with this light was to a dark depth of 117 ft. in an inland quarry. The Light Cannon blasted a beam of light that guided my underwater adventure like no other. I highly recommend everyone who dives in low or no light depths to buy a Light Cannon, they wont be disappointed.

AWESOME!!!!! This light is unbelievable. Its easy to use, and gives the option of 2 types of handles I went with the standard pistol grip. The light this cannon puts off is unbelievable, I was able to light up a whole C10 Jump plane from front to back on a night dive. It is so impressive my boyfriend had to have one, so we now have 2 at my house. Very good investment.

I bought this light primarily as a video light. I recently used it cavern diving in Mexico. I used it with one diffuser installed (it comes with two). It gave off a fair amount of very blue light with minimal "hot spots". The light did not have very much penetration with the diffuser in place, and I didnt get a chance to try it without.

We purchased this UK Light Cannon to add with our the other one had got a couple years ago. The beams are so bright and clear underwater it looks like something from Star Wars during a night dive. We needed two to place on our underwater video camera. They are heavy but worth it. Do yourself a favor and get the recharable kit.

The UK Light Cannon is by far the brightest light in the sea. I purchased it from scuba.com and was extremely pleased with the entire process. I have used my light only once so far with great results and the envy of other divers. The rechargable battery kit is indespensable. Give about 2hrs of light. Great so far. JP

In The Northwest almost where almost all dives require a light, this one is great. However, with rechargable batteries it doesnt last for a full three dives, which I usually do. It dies about 2/3 of the way through the last dive. I needed a second set of batteries to change out after second dive.
