This camera and flash was great! I just took it on a Live-aboard for a week in the Exuma Cays. I took over 800 photos and 30 videos. The auto external flash camera mode and auto Pro Flash took super clear photos from a few inches to 8 feet. I ran everything on auto because I am new to under water photography. I cant believe I took them they look so good! It changes mode from stills to video with a few steps. It performed better than my expectations.

I got the camera in just in time to take it with me to Virgin Gorda for 4 days of scuba diving. The camera worked flawlessly and took fantastic pictures!! I took over a thousand photos with it, it was the best investment I made for the trip!

Rating: Sealife-DC800-8.0-Megapixel-Pro-Kit-with-Digital-Pro-Flash underwater camera
Reviewer: Robert T., Wednesday, June 10, 2009 - View all my reviews
The dc800 was very easy to set up and get started. The pictures were very good above water, underwater pictures taken at 20 feet and above were focused and had good color. My main issue with the camera was the battery, although it was rechargeable it was unique to this camera and had a very short life and went dead before the end of my dive trip. The replacement had to be purchased direct, next time Ill have to take a back up battery

We ordered the camera just before a cruise to Mexico and from order to delivery about a week. One really needs to read the directions and play with camera before depending on it for pictues. It worked great, I got good pictures, I just need more practice. The zoom worked great too. I had trouble seeing the camera screen until I got my mask unfogged, then I could see what I was taking a picture of. Somehow I got between still pictures and movie while underwater and back to still pictures and I still dont know how that happened, still got good pictures. I was a bit unsure of myself and turned the camera off and back on a couple times. I think the camera was smarter than me this time. With the Proflash attachment the whole unit floats really well. I wasnt deep enough for the flash to be needed, but the exposure and color were good. Scuba.com was very good with explaining the product. I would advise purchasing extra battery and external charger. One battery lasted more than two hours of picture taking. I do not know how long the flash batteries would last. overall a good product.

I found this to be effortless in use.I still need to get better at "MY" part of the equation, but as for the camera it took great pics. The water tight housing working perfectly, and for the strobe it work will but DO NOT leave your strobe in the "ON" position or it will eat your batteries!

Rating: Sealife-DC800-8.0-Megapixel-Pro-Kit-with-Digital-Pro-Flash Outstanding Camera

I received the camera just a few days before a recent trip to Key Larg, Florida and I was very impressed with the results. The camera was very easy to set up and the learning curve for basic functions was fairly short. Looking forward to learning some of the more intricate functions and unlocking the full potential of the camera.

Rating: Sealife-DC800-8.0-Megapixel-Pro-Kit-with-Digital-Pro-Flash Great Camera for Beginner like me!
Reviewer: Scott P., Wednesday, February 25, 2009 - View all my reviews
In 17 dives I took well over 300 pictures in Roatan Honduras. The camera had a learning curve for using underwater, IE. 2 to 3 feet from the underwater critter you were taking a photo of for best picture, also a bit of trial and error on which direction to face the flash so the fish or coral would not look washed out or too bright. Underwater movie mode was better than expected, I wish there was a way to fix the color on the movies though. Above water photos and movies were great too. It never leaked at all after 17 dives and removing the camera about 10 times to get the pictures over to my PC was a breeze. I used only 2 moister munchers the whole trip and the camera never fogged up at all. Also underwater the camera seems to be a bit buoyant though I never let go of it to see if it would float. My only real dislike is the carrying case, when you try to put the camera and the flash in there together they do not fit very well and I lost 8 brand new batteries by the flash being accidentally turned on and draining them. By turning off the flash and making sure it stayed off, I only used 8 batteries for the entire week. Of course 1 week after the purchase of this camera, Sea Life comes out with the DC1000!

Very easy out of the box operation and settings. Used it on a recent diving trip to the Bahamas and put it on auto. Was about 50/50 for good shots? Flash did not always fire so operators may want to double up on shots with the flash setting to "on" if using auto mode to ensure images arent underexposed. Otherwise very easy to use. No leaks!

This camera, with very little configuring made easy by the instructions guides for both components (camera + flash), is producing great photos and video! If someone told you that you cant switch between video and photo mode when in the UW case, they are wrong. With my 8 gig memory card, I can video a whole dive. Unless you plan on using trimix, the depth rating is good for all divers. I am very pleased with this product.

this is my first digital camera. the big screen allowed for an honest evaluation of each picture. that shortened the learning curve considerably. the flash adjusts from fill flash to its most powerful setting (or automatic) by simply turning a large knob on the back, which took only a 100 or so photos to get used to. i bought a few 2gb cards so i didnt have to photos, but could look at them later and learn. very easy to operate in warm water, without gloves. im anxious to see how it is with three-finger mitts, in cold water.

I love the camera and flash. The descriptions were exact and helpful when deciding which camera to purchase (not to mention the help from the SCUBA.com customer service). I received the camera one day and was on a trip and in the water the next, therefore I didnt have a lot of time to spend playing around with it. The directions were quick and easy to follow and the camera was easy to use. However, the pictures look like they came from a complicated very professional camera, not from simple everyday me! Same thing goes for the flash. I had never used one but no big deal, it was all made simple! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to have great photos without all the complications! Dependability, quality, and useability are all an A+!!!

Rating: Sealife-DC800-8.0-Megapixel-Pro-Kit-with-Digital-Pro-Flash First tries with Sea Life disappointing compared to Lumix system
Reviewer: Greg M., Friday, December 26, 2008
Although I still feel a need to spend more time with the 800 Sea Life Camera, after two weeks in Cozumel diving both shallow 10-20, and deeper 60-85 water, I was disappointed in the camera. I had previously been using a Lumix TZ3 with the Lumix housing and, although a bit bulkier, found it faster, more user friendly, bolder colors, and easier to switch from video to still, as well as other various setting options. Fortunately I will be in Cozumel again in January to give the 800 another try, and hopefully will become better with it. Comments from anyone else having used both cameras would be welcome.

Rating: Sealife-DC800-8.0-Megapixel-Pro-Kit-with-Digital-Pro-Flash Happy buyer

I recently purchased the Sealife DC800 Pro Kit and Pro flash. I love it. It was a great buy. I have not tested it in open water yet, but did go to the local dive shop for a test run. The pics came out great. You do need to read the manual and play around with the flash a little. One thing I was kinda bumbed out about was that you cannot change from picture mood to video under the watet. To all those that would like to purchse and have read other reviews I would like to put you mind at ease. The camera functions great under water. I never had any blury pics and the seal did its job. I did find it is easier to adjust this camera for pics under the water then pics on land. Again It takes great pics you just have to play with it to learn how to set it. I hope this reveiw will help you purchase a camera and make you fell as lucky for your purchase as I do.

Recieved the camera in less than a week. Took it out on the first dive with only reviewing the fast start instructions. It performed flawlessly. Instructions are easy to read and understand. The larger view screen is priceless. A 2 gig card enables 900 pictures in high quality. I definitely recommend this product.

Rating: Sealife-DC800-8.0-Megapixel-Pro-Kit-with-Digital-Pro-Flash excellent camera for a beginner like me
Reviewer: Olga R., Sunday, July 20, 2008
I had no experience taking underwater pictures, and this is my camera. the camera came with an excellent manual. I took it for the first dive in Pacific Northwest, It exceeded my expectations! the camera was easy to use, and for the low visibility we had, I took decent pictures. it shoots jpegs, not raw, but thats fine for a beginner. i also enjoyed the camera on land. there are many presetting that make using it easy. i will recommend it to my friends.
