Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Hot Pockets
Reviewer: Paul E., Friday, January 13, 2012
These are awesome. What you get is a neoprene "cumberbun"/belt which holds the gel pack. The gel pack ships and travels as a solid. You recharge the pack by boiling it for a few minutes, which melts the inside of the pack, and when youre ready to use it, you push a metal click button which, before your eyes, makes the liquid solidify and warm up. Pretty cool. Im not only using it for Diving but also as a heat pack at football games for sprains etc. Also look at the electronic version of this...

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Decent heater
Reviewer: Michael Smith, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - View all my reviews
Im an active instructor and got this for the long cold nights in the pool. First, the good: the heater pack does get warm, and stays that way for about 45 minutes. Its rechargeable, which is very nice. The neoprene belt also adds some insulation on its own. The bad: it doesnt get super hot. Id say its a marginal improvement, but not going to turn a 3mm into a 5mm, but it will extend your bottom time some. It is practically impossible to activate this through a wetsuit. You really need to pinch the activator from both sides. So you cant wait till you get cold and punch it for a wash of warmth. To recharge the heater pack, you need to boil it for AT LEAST 15 minutes. Otherwise, it will not reverse the activator, and will continue the chemical reaction leaving it discharged. Your goal is for as much as possible of it to end up in a liquid state.

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Small somewhat functional
Reviewer: Michael R., Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Got a few on sale for a decent price but was surprised by how small they are. My previous set which have stopped recharging after 20 years were 18" x 7" in size these are 4 x 10" which do not put out as much heat and last only the first portion of a dive

I wore this on a recent dive in the St Lawrence river right up next to Canada. With the water cooling down this time of year I needed just that little extra to keep me warm. Usually one of the first to get cold in the group, with the Wetsuit Heater this time I was comfortable the entire time.

price was good but the product was not. heat packs when properly regenerated (boiling), do not stay in a liquid state for long, they start to chrystalize soon as they cool, this diminishes the lenth of the heating ability. ive tried seversl times with the same results.i have even went on the web to make sure i am doing it correctly.

Did just as described, lasted longer than expected. Only negative thing I can say is I couldnt activate it when my 7mm suit was on so I had to activate it before I zipped up. Other than that I love it.

Works well enough for diving, can also be used around the house as a heating pack. Recharging it requires heating it in hot water for about 3 minutes, so buuy extra packs if you dont have access to boiling water.

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater A+ on the hotsuit heater!
Reviewer: AMY L., Sunday, June 20, 2010 - View all my reviews
I am very happy with this product so far! I had read that you had to be careful to not accidently activate them too early, but I did not have this problem! Just when I was ready for it (just begining a bit of chilly decompression) I was able to activate the heater...and OH! Glory! it was DELICIOUS! lol! A warmer diver thinks more clearly, makes better decisions, has better dexterity, and -face it- is just plain happier. :) For such a low price, this item is a tremendous value. I suggest having a spare heater for each dive you do in a day. A lovely, lovely, lovley product! thanks!

The product is priced well and works well. I especially like that the instructions are printed on the item so I dont have to mess with paper or trying to remember what to do and how to use it. It feels comfortable and fits nicely under a wetsuit.

Reviewer: Adam Helberg, Saturday, April 17, 2010 - View all my reviews
As someone else pointed out its very very difficult to find the button to activate the thing under a 7mm wet suit. The only way to use it is to activate on the boat before donning the wetsuit fully, and then you lose half its life on the boat.

Have only tried this product as a heating pad at home. Retains heat for at least an hour in air. I doubt the time will be that long in water at 10 deg or more below room temp. Will use for diving in a couple of months and for hunting next winter.

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Hotbelt Wetsuite Heater is a Must for cool and cold water diving
Reviewer: allan s., Sunday, January 03, 2010 - View all my reviews
I went out on a limb when I purchased this heater not knowing how it worked but the limb held and the heater is great! You must boil the chemical pack for 15 minutes to reset it for your next use. Once you boil it, it will stay ready for you until your next dive even if the next dive is months away. You do not have to boil it at the dive site, boil it at home and carry it with you. Feels like a heating pad on low setting when used under your wetsuite. Stays warm for 45 minutes to a hour. Chemical pack is reuseable, just boil the pack. I love it when diving springs.

As a new diver or a veteran diver money is tight and we all want the best bang for the buck, Myself being a new diver I want to spend my money on the right type diving products. I cant really say if this product will be worth the money, havent had the chance as of yet to use, the rock quarry I dive at is some what chilly under 15, I hope the product will work but I do see problems trying to get it reheated after first use. I tried it on, goes on easy seems to fit under wetsuit fine, appears to be more like a back support belt with a removable heating gel, which could be a benefit.

The Hotbelt wetsuit heater provides an additional level of comfort under your wetsuit for colder dives. Its very easy to prepare and use. In fact, your only regret will be that you didnt buy an extra heat pack for the second cold dive of the day!

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Longer surf sessions, better flexibility in the cold
Reviewer: Mike Pinkerton, Thursday, December 03, 2009
After 40 years of surfing I dont take the cold very well any more, and have a cronic back problem that gets worse in the cold. The heat belt solved both of these problems for me. Not only am I getting longer sessions (4 hours out on the first day with the belt) my back stays flexible the whole time. I usually get about an hour or two of surf before the cold starts to affect my back. I just click the heater and within minutes Im good for another hour or two. Warm and flexible. What a deal!!!

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Not great for thick wetsuits
Reviewer: Darren S., Friday, October 23, 2009 - View all my reviews
The product is nice and looks like a good quality product but its really made for cold weather diving and is not very useful for me atleast in a cold weather wetsuit. I use a 7mm John with a 7mm coat ... So with 14 mm thickness its virtually impossible to activate it with the suit on even on dry land... My instructor asked if I was ok because I was doing a little dance and reaching for my back for a couple minutes. I will try it over my John next time I wont gain as much heat but perhaps I can turn it on then.

Reviewer: Jeff G., Monday, July 13, 2009 - View all my reviews
This wetsuit heater is nice. I used it on my third dive in one day out here in Catalina island. First off, it kept me really warm in my wet wetsuit for the few minutes that I was waiting to get into the water. I was warm the entire dive (about 40 minutes in 59F water). My friend who is very sensitive to cold also used it snorkeling in the same water and said it was awesome. She was in the water for about 20-25 minutes. Also, it is very easy to recharge, just boil it in a pot of water for about 10-15 minutes.

Reviewer: tim c., Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - View all my reviews
I really liked this product. I had read some reviews on it before I tried it, so I knew that it might be delivered already activated. So, I boiled mine and got it ready. I dove off the California coast on the 4th of July at night in 55 degree waters. I usually wear a 3mm hooded vest with my 7mm wetsuit, but that is not warm enough sometimes. With this heater I was perfect! My core was very warm. I actually activated it right after I put it on, so I was warming before I walked into the water. It lasted about 45 min. Great for me! I recommend this product to those who like to dive and stay warm.

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater Wetsuit heater
Reviewer: Linda Mckee, Friday, June 12, 2009 - View all my reviews
The concept for this item is great! The main problem is that the heat only lasts about 20-30 minutes, so towards the end of the dive when you are freezing, you are out of heat! If there was some way to activate the heating element during the dive, it would be perfect. This is not possible, however, through a wetsuit with the heating element behind you and under your tank and BCD. They certainly make the first half of the dive nice and toasty though! Make sure you order 2 if you tend to do two tank dives as they need to be boiled between uses.

Rating: Hotsuits-Hotbelt-Wetsuit-Heater This produce is amazing
Reviewer: Kimberly Balkun, Monday, May 11, 2009
Ok I have to admit I have not yet used this in the water. I live in New England and it is COLD here for diving. Which is why I got the Hot Suits heater. I have tried it out at my house though and it is so cool just to watch it work. The chemical in the pouch is reuable and you simply boil it to get it to a liquid state. It then will "freeze" at the click of a button producing heat? Yea I know it sounds wierd but the chemical "freezes" at such a hitemperature it actually gives off heat. I got this product at a great price from and email deal. Well wortht the 30 bucks. Cant wait to use it in the water. I should have bought more so someone would dive with me in the cold water!

Sometimes I use my two piece wet suit when shore diving. It is eight years old and has lost some of its insulating capability. The Hotbelt does help to keep the torso a little warmer, though my shoulders still get cold. It wont replace my dry suit.

Reviewer: Richard Cavanaugh, Monday, June 25, 2007 - View all my reviews
The heater is difficult to activate while wearing a wetsuit, BCD, Tank etc.... The instructions say to wear on your back over kidneys. I dont think I would be able to push the button while wearing gear. I wore the heater on my stomach. Still difficult to activate. However, once it was activated, I could feel the heat for about 20 to 30 minutes. The heater is still somewhat warm past that point, but it is not "hot" I feel it is good for the third or fourth dive of the day where you may get a chill at the end. It is not practical to use on every dive as the heater must be boiled for 15 minutes to reactivate.

Reviewer: Arika T., Thursday, May 17, 2007
This product works very well once activated. The instructions that come with the heater do not explain the actual process for activating the heaters for the first time. Ours came already activated so we were not able to "simply push the metal button" to activate. It was necessary to boil and activate according to the instructions for re-use. Once we figured that out, we were very pleased with the heaters.
