Hi there. I see that nobody has taken the time to answer this one. So, I'm not either =0)(just kidding) But I will tell you EXACTLY where you can find this information. If you go to either your local dive shop, your local Barnes & Nobles, or maybe even @ DiverDiscount.com, you will find the "PADI Encyclopedia on Recreational Diving". The book costs roughly $40, but it will tell you EVERYTHING you want to know about recreational SCUBA equipment.

Go to www.scubapro.com.. Look the the regulators there and you will find out.. Basically what happens is that the first stage (goes on to the scuba tank) has a moving pistion that uses the water pressure and the pressure going to the secound stage (what goes in your mouth) to keep the pressure in the hose between the 1st stage and 2nd stage to 250 psi.. the 2nd stage regulates the 250 psi pressure in the line to what your body need to breathe (ambient pressure).. on the surface its 14.7 psi.. at 33 feet its 29.4 and so on..
